Ha!
You know you're a mom when.... ....you have a scale for what is an allowable amount on spit up to be wearing. ....you have mastered the 3 minute shower. ....you realize that your heart now exists outside your body. ....you have 11 episodes or Criminal Minds on PVR that you can't bring yourself to watch. ....you care about how often somebody else poops.
It's a staycation week for us so the whole family is home.
O has a new habit while nursing....snapping my bra straps. She has also been sleeping from 8pm- ish to 7:30am with only one wake up, around 3:30am, for the past week or so.
You know you are a mom when you are happy that your 2 year old peed in her plastic toy container instead of her potty because at least she didn't pee her pants and she managed to dump it in the toilet without spilling ( happened today).
You don't flinch when your baby spits up on you ( except today because it went right down my cleavage and got one of my few nursing bras that actually fits dirty).
Your life heavily revolves around bodily functions. Like trying to time your day so your once a say pooping toddler may have a chance at actually pooping in potty.
C is generally good except she used a bad word at church in nursery. I was a little mortified and baffled as it was a curse word we never use. Wish I could say I never curse in front of her but I do use the "sh**" accidentally too often.
She has also described her friends at school as "my boys!". Girls are included in this mix. She definitely didn't learn that at home 😀.
E is good! Sleeping like a champ. Although I have a hard time going back to sleep if she wakes up after 5 but so happy she sleeps that long!
I have a 10y who hasn't slept through the night in 3 nights now (yea, I know this is nothing for you moms of babies/toddlers, but I've gotten used to sleeping through the night!!!). He has night terrors that typically come in clumps he typically starts about 90m after he goes to sleep. which when he goes to bed at his normal time (8p) doesn't affect me because I'm still awake. With vacation, he's going to bed later and for the last 3 nights I've been asleep 30-45m before he starts screaming. Just enough sleep for a nice nap. I can't fall back asleep for a few hours. And L NEVER hears him. 😩

You know you're a mom when you spend inordinate amounts of time talking about poop.
You "smell test" your clothes to decide if you need to change (I second the spit up).
Leaving the house is a victory. Getting somewhere at a certain time takes 2 hours prep.
You cry happy and sad tears over the littlest things.
4 hours of sleep feels like what 8 used to.
Isobel went through a period of 6.5 hour chunks of sleep! Didn't make it quite that far last night with 4.5 but we're still doing well in that regard. She usually has her big chunk then sleeps a couple more hours, then poops, then we're up. She naps well in the AM though, short naps but only 1-1.5 hours of being awake.
I will have a 12 week old tomorrow. That seems ridiculous to me. She's smiling lots - still no awake laughs. Lots of cooing and beginning to practice different sounds like "ka", "ga", "oooo". She wiggles a lot and shimmies clockwise/counterclockwise... no rolling. She's got a strong neck but is still figuring out her body - how to use her arms and hands.
One of our close friends does HVAC and we're finally biting thr bullet and getting central air! He's giving us such a deal we should've done it at the beginning of summer. I hope it makes Is more comfortable. I'm curious how she'll find the quiet since the window unit has been running constantly. It will reopen the crib sleep conversation. I don't think I'm ready yet, after the 4 month sleep regression sounds good to me. Maybe we'll try naps in the crib once the AC is in to get her used to it.
She's attempting to show her independence much more. She is also asserting her opinions much more frequently, and loudly. All of this makes parenting a bit more challenging. I'm really trying to remind myself that asking repeatedly or even sternly doesn't work at this age. She really seems to have no concept. I try to remind myself that songs and making things into a game really works well for her. It's a minute by minute challenge really. Although she did voluntarily put all of her blocks back in the bag when she was done playing yesterday without prompting and sang the clean up song to herself. It was adorable.
She's still up 1-2 times per night most nights. It takes varying amounts of time to get her back down. It is exhausting to still be up with a 2 yo. And I know that more of the overnight stuff will fall to me with O once #2 comes along (which seems like it will never happen at this point!).
QOTW:
You know you're a mom when...
...you smell butts to check for poop. ...you never sleep in (or maybe sleep period). ...you make up silly songs to sing because it makes your child smile. ...you are overwhelmed with love when you look at your kiddo. ...everything you think about involves how it will affect the kiddo.

I just had my first home alone with baby shower and it was a success! Usually I shower in the evenings now. I'm sure it will only take one time of screaming baby for me to feel hortible and switch nack, but until then I feel so refreshed and awake!

I just put the baby on a blanket on bathroom floor where I can see her. They are the shortest showers ever!! With my first I wouldn't take a shower for the longest time.

I chose naptime in the PNP with the monitor in the bathroom. Not a video monitor, but I watched the little sound lights like a hawk.
