DH got whatever sickness A and I had and he is pathetic. He took yesterday off of work, which is fine, but he woke up at 2am and basically told me he was miserable. I'm going to work for a couple of hours and then will take over childcare (H is off on Tuesdays). I'm annoyed because I didn't get a sick day and really no sympathy over the weekend when I was sick. Apparently saying "I don't feel well" means I'll still make dinner, do dishes and tidy up the house. 🙄 Sorry for the long vent- it's the MOTN here and I'm annoyed.

13liza, All my sorries. Sounds like your H is identical to mine in that his sickness is always much more worse than mine is. It amazes me that I can continue to care to the family, cook, clean, etc., but with one little cough my H is down for the count. It doesn't happen often, but it's so annoying when it does!

EG has been getting better from her sinus infection last week, but she woke up very snotty (all clear) this morning. Not sure if I can blame the illness or teething, but I suppose we'll find out soon.
I have scheduled her 9 month pictures (what?!) and now I have to pick out a few outfits for them. It's so funny - with her newborn and 3 month pictures I had to have the exact perfect outfits, pose ideas, etc. At this point, I'm very "meh, it will work out" about it. I'm still super excited about the pictures, but not stressing as much about planning for them.

13liza So frustrating! That's how it ends up in my house too. DH also always seems to need a nap on the weekends when I get the least amount of sleep. Makes me want to roll him out of bed sometimes.
I got after my H yesterday, I've been dealing with some neck and back pain (finally got my PT sister to help straighten me out...she had me in tears as she dug into my hip flexers on saturday). but He got in a habit of asking how my neck was in the morning, and when I'd say "It's still really sore, I need to find time to stretch" rather than some sympathy or an offer to watch LO so I could get a 5 minute stretch session in he's say "yea, my back hurts"...he got a little lecture on sympathy.
Big plans for the day include a visit to the dentist because my Invisalign tray broke again (anyone have experience with a permanent retainer??) and viewing a couple houses. I'm excited and scared to purchase a new house... Between the move to another state and me quitting my job our finances look very different than they did 6 months ago. My husband and I go back and forth on what would be a comfortable mortgage payment. I don't know how people afford to live in a top rated school district, save for retirement and college, day to day living expenses and have money left over for the occasional trip.
Sorry about your pain gdaisy09, I hope your husband starts being more understanding!
I sent FS2 to daycare with about 14 pairs of undies and 14 pairs of easy to remove shorts. I didn't actually know he HAD that many pairs of shorts. He soaked through the 4 pairs I sent yesterday before lunch time and they ended up putting him in a diaper the rest of the day which I think sets him back completely with potty training. He stopped telling when he had to go and just peed in the diaper. And he also woke up at 5:30 this morning and pooped in this diaper. It's like he totally forgot everything from this weekend already. But luckily, the daycare told me they would change him into as many new pants as I could bring before putting a diaper back on so that was comforting. I'm not giving up!
Man colds are the worst. The whining, and (at least with my H) the super loud nose-blowing and balled up tissues everywhere - blech. Hope your H is better soon, for your sake if nothing else, lol 13liza - and I hope you & A are feeling better!
thatgirlrachel, that reminds me, I need to get moving on finding someone to take family pics. I'd love to do some fall-themed pics (my favorite season, and I think C is going to be a pumpkin for Halloween so photos of him in his costume would be extra adorable).
gdaisy09, that is super annoying. MH and I both tend to get like your H when C has a rough night, where we are almost one-upping each other on who got less sleep (last night was one of those nights, sigh) and sometimes I have to remind myself that it wouldn't kill me to just be sympathetic once in a while.
I need to sneak a peek at C's upper gums tonight and see if teeth are any closer to working their way in. He was up a ton last night but I also kind of just think he is having a tough time sleeping since he's working on some new skills right now. MH did say he was drooling a TON yesterday though so I just want to check. He's had just the 2 teeth for two months now.

I have a permanent retainer (I had braces right after college, so I've had this retainer in for about 10.5 years now). But it is just a piece of wire behind my two top front teeth, not sure if that's what you mean. I also still wear my regular retainers every single night... I suppose at some point I could stop or wear them less often, but I'm just so so afraid my teeth will move.

Have you ever had any issues with the wire? The dentist I originally saw for Invisalign was against anything permanent bc it's harder to care for, etc. I've broken two trays in one year and don't want to keep paying to replace them.
I just booked the second trip I will be taking M on in an 8 week time period. Next month he is traveling with me to a work meeting in TX for a couple of days. I conned my mom into coming along on that one to watch him while I am working. Then in mid-November he and H are coming along to FL for a work meeting I have. We are extending on both ends of the work trip and staying at my ILs house in the general area of the meeting for the extra days so we can have a little family vacation. The drawback is that my ILs have decided to come along on the trip. I couldn't very well say no since we are staying at their house. At least we have a few days in the middle that we will be on our own at the resort my meeting is at. I did make it clear to H that it was our first family vacation and his parents could not get all bent out of shape if we want to do things without them. We'll see how that goes.
I am excited but also nervous about flying with him. He is a super chill baby but when he gets pissed, it is ridiculous. Luckily both trips are direct flights and not terribly long (a few hours each) so it should be ok. Snacks and toys galore will be packed.

I have the same thing behing four of my bottom teeth, I've gotten used to caring for it at this point (I've had it since I was 14...so 15 years) I use an electric toothbrush and occasionally run some floss behind it, never had any problems. my sister's dentist has encouraged her to get her's removed, but mine said it's fine.

I dropped the boys off at my mom's at 10 and came to town so I'd be closer to the hospital. My mom just called and said R is screaming. He's sleepy and hungry and won't take a bottle or his cup. I haven't heard anything from the hospital since 10ish. I would go back to my mom's but she lives 30 minutes away. I feel horrible.
Has anyone ever dealt with a canker sore in a baby? I think A has one under his tongue, but he's too squirmy to get a good look. He's eating fine, just more fussy when drinking his bottle- although he's sick and teething, so it could be one of those things too.

Bummer I hope he's eaten by now, but if not, could she try feeding with a spoon, or sips out of a (non-sippy) cup? Worst case, will he eat some solids? Poor guy.
I hope things get moving at the hospital soon! Good luck!!!

He loves his straw cup so she tried that and he would just smack it away. He was just too upset by the time she tried. She has just given him some solids too. I'm hoping she just let him get too tired and that caused the problem. I did tell her to try an open cup if it happens again.
I'm actually at my mom's now. Things are going slow and she hasn't needed me yet.

I had a work conference back in May and I got my mom to come with me to watch EG while I worked. So, when I didn't have networking events I got to hangout with them in the evening. I was so glad to come back to my baby and not just an empty hotel room. FX your traveling goes smoothly!

The rational reason for having them come is because I am still breastfeeding and it is easier than dealing with pumping, storing, and transporting milk for 3 days. The real (selfish) reason is that I can't even stomach the idea of being away from him!

I just left the hospital! It was awesome. The mama was a rockstar so I didn't have to do much at all. I'm getting food now because OMG I'm so hungry! Then I'm going to get my boys. R had a much better afternoon.
