DD1 turned 2 at the beginning of August. We are waiting to tell her until we are ready for everyone to know. She has no filters and will share with anyone who will listen! We have shared the news with our parents/siblings, but we aren't ready to tell all of our friends. We have a few events coming up that would make it easy for her to spill the beans and want to wait until they have passed.
We are really excited to share the news with her and she is in such a baby phase, she will be over the moon!
DS is only 14 months old. We've already started telling him that there is a baby in mommy's belly, but obviously he doesn't get it. As it gets closer to d-day, we will get him a baby doll and start introducing him to the concept of having a baby in the house.

Like cayenne said. DD is only 19 months so she doesn't get it. I ask her all the time if she's ready for a baby brother or a baby sister. Then I ask her if it's a boy or a girl
Thanks, Ladies! My DS is older (3.5) and I think he'll be pumped (he loves babies!) but am just not sure how or when to discuss with him. Maybe as we're done with first tri is a good time. I was initially thinking closer to Christmas so the birth doesn't seem so far away for him, but I don't want him finding out from someone else who already assumes he knows.

I think waiting until you would be okay with most people knowing is probably best. We told DS1 right away when I was pg with DS2. Not even an hour later he told our friends we were meeting for breakfast "baby" and pointed (more like punched, he's a rough one) my stomach. He was 2.
This time I am waiting until after the ultrasound. DS1 is 6 now, so if I do lose the baby, there would be a lot more explanation and questions to be had and I don't want to not only confuse him, but put myself thru it.
As for how I am going to tell them, maybe we will show them a picture from the ultrasound. I actually haven't thought that thru yet. I don't think DS2 ( who is 3) will fully comprehend. But I know DS1 is going to be thrilled. He's been asking me for a while when I will have another baby.

DD is 2.5. She knows a little bit about babies and big siblings from her daycare friends and from some of her TV shows. But she still doesn't quite grasp it. I'll get some books explaining it and start working it into conversations quite a bit once we're through the first tri- I don't want her blabbing to people we aren't ready to tell yet.
