Anyone here a nurse? Or if you know of any TCF-ers that are nurses, feel free to tag them in here.
I'm thinking about going back to school for nursing. I currently have a BA in Psychology. But I'm so bored. I've known for a while that I want to get into the medical field, but I think I finally want to bite the bullet.
Anyone have experience getting a 2nd bachelors? I have the option of getting an associates from a tech college near me, but I feel like it would make more sense and make me more employable to have a BSN, wouldn't it?

My friend got her RN and became an OB nurse at the hospital - they even hired her when she was five months pregnant. It was awesome. Anyways, they will now pay for her to go back and get her Bachelors degree while working. Something to consider.

I have a BA in English and am in an associate degree program for nursing. To me an associate program made more sense. Because I already have a bachelor so I can go from directly from ASN to get a master degree, it's cheaper, and I will be working in the field sooner. My program has just as many clinical hours as the bachelor program but doesn't have the research component.
Plus there is a nursing shortage in my area and many employers will play for higher education if you agree to work for them for a certain time period, typically 3 years.

My mom got her second bachelor's in nursing. She did an accelerated program in 18 months that was brutal but fast and cheaper. She really couldn't work and do the program at the same time. It was through Cleveland state university if you want to see an example of what an accelerated program would look like.
I have an associate in nursing...it made sense for me at the time. I think about going for Bachelors....some day. Most places prefer Bachelor now a days...especially if you want to be in a managers position. Honestly an RN is an RN in my opinion...level of education doesn't matter in most cases after you pass your boards...GL!
I have no knowledge on this, but am so excited for you jags8! I know you have been unhappy at your job for a while. Nurses are super heroes, in my opinion - I will never forget my L&D nurses at the hospital.
