I had my weekly appointment today. When I was pregnant with C, they never offered to tell me how dilated/effaced I was. Today she asked if I wanted to know and I couldn't say no. 1.5 cm! It's something! She also said "I'm touching baby's head" while she was checking, which was both creepy and cool. So pretty much all that 1.5cm tells me is that I won't be pregnant forever
I had to bring C with me today to my appointment. I peed in the cup and she said "you like the juice, mama?!" I lol'ed and said "not that juice!"

Wow annapunkalunka, 1.5cm is certainly something! Lol at C's comment. I have to bring DD with me to every appt. She takes charge of getting the cup and lid for me, and while I'm peeing in it, she bends over and gets very close so she can see what's happening. Good thing my sense of modesty went out the window when I had her.
Yay for progression annapunkalunka! I've had a lingering cough for over a week now and I'm so over it. My next Dr appointment is tomorrow so I will ask her about it.
hurricanerek that's almost exactly what my DD does too. Plus she insists on carrying the sample to the little window by herself.
We went to a lake with a little beach with friends today. DD absolutely loved it until she lost her shit when she got too tired. It's getting really hard to carry her tantruming out of places.
H is out of town until Friday. I'm hoping I survive. I just hate the nights - add anxiety onto how difficult it already is to get a good night's sleep.
fem Stressful with YH being away! I hope it all goes smoothly. annapunkalunka, that's exciting to know things are on the right track! September is really just around the corner
Had a short stint at L&D last night after a ton of contractions in the afternoon. Long story short....they were just braxton hicks (which I knew) and I'm not dilated at all. Fun times
FFTC: I got out of work an hr and a half early. Instead of telling DH now and going home to help with bedtime, I'm having dinner at a little Peruvian place by my office before I go to the market.
Unrelated, but was it you who had a LO that was dairy-free and mentioned giving up dairy a few weeks before baby was due this time? (If not sorry.) DD was also and I am debating if I want to go to the effort to give up dairy in the next few weeks. It would be nice to have it out of my system to see if it affected this one, but lazy....and yummy cheese.

hurricanerek, I've been meaning to ask you, what are your thoughts on a nursing stool? I only ever used one when I went and saw a lactation consultant and liked it. I'm short, so my feet don't touch the ground when I sit all the way back on my couch.

That's a great question! I honestly have never used one and couldn't provide a strong opinion on one. I'd be happy to do some research for you and come back with something more concrete.
Without having done that, it sounds like it's something that would be helpful depending on the mom and baby and what types of positioning they like for breastfeeding. I probably could have used one, as I still nurse DD with a cradle hold and I have to pull my leg up and rest my ankle on the opposite thigh in order to support her comfortably.

I'll throw my 2 cents in...
I have A Dutalier glider with a gliding ottoman that has a slide out nursing stool and I freaking LOVE it! I'm not sure if I ever put the stool away. It was nice to have a solid, still surface to put my feet. Even if you don't go with a "stool", definitely get something to put your feet on. The extra support of having your knees propped up help with the lower back, and even provide a but of extra lift under the nursing pillow.
I'm 5'9 at its a must for me so I can't imagine being shorter and not having it.
This is very similar to my stool. Same company, slightly different model but you get the picture. They're also customizable.

Very happy to read this since I spent the extra money to get the Dutailier nursing ottoman when I ordered my glider. It just needs to arrive before baby now!!
