Yea this one seems to like it much better with the halo sleep sack swaddle when I leave his arms free and just do the swaddle part around his tummy. When I I'd the arms he would fall right asleep but then wake up in a panic trying to break free, so now when he wakes he sucks on his hand for a minute and goes back to sleep. Still only getting 2.5 he stretches but that seems to be unavoidable.
We have the swaddle pods. I'm fan because there are two zippers. So for diaper changes I can just unzip from the bottom up without taking the entire thing off. And ps they're on sale on Amazon right now!
Ooh, buying one!
We've been using a Swaddle Me at night, but I love the idea of being able to change his diaper without unswaddling!
DS kindly cooperated with my plan and went back to sleep until 6:45. According to my Fitbit, I've had about 4 hours of sleep so far. Trying to fill this kid up once again to get a few more hours, and then I'll be in good shape...
LO likes to make a liar of me so we are currently on our first wake up. I wish there were snacks here. I've been having junk food cravings the past few nights.
Am I the only one who doesn't swaddle? Just reading about all the swaddle troubles makes me exhausted. If I had to add that into our motn routine I would not be a happy camper, so kudos to you all. I also don't know how to swaddle anyway.
I don't swaddle her anymore bc she rolls onto her side a lot and I don't want to restrict her ability to move in case she flops all the way to her belly. She already did it once and, while it was probably a fluke, it makes me too nervous
@suesposa I keep trying to swaddle and she haaaates it. I have so many different ones (DS was the world's worst sleeper and I tried everything), and she seems to get panicked by all of them. Not having her hands free really wigs her out. But she's also not sleeping so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
LO hated it from the beginning. He likes his hands and wouldn't stop rolling so I made the nurses stop swaddling him. When he startles, I swear it looks like he's jumping out of a cake yelling "surprise!" Fortunately, he's a hard sleeper and doesn't wake himself up.
Swaddling seems to be an art form these days. Would she do any better just having her bottom half wrapped? I don't know if that is a thing though.
I tried leaving her hands out, but that didn't help either. I'll probably keep trying different things until she adjusts to something.
We use a swaddle sleep sack. It has Velcro to strap her arms down but then she can still kick her legs inside the sleep sack. She is always kicking her legs so I think it works better for her. She still sneaks an arm out sometimes though.

I wish I could not. DD3 (like her sisters) hates it. But she won't sleep without it, even 1 arm out wakes her early.
I own nearly every swaddles on the market, plus the Magic Sleepsuit and ZipadeeZip to transition. I can't wait until ~4 months when I can unload them all finally.

Do you guys change the diaper at every waking/feeding? I am (every 2 hours) and he gets all riled up and cries. My friend told me as long as it's just pee that I can do it every other time. I don't want him to get diaper rash or sit in pee but I suppose all those babies who sleep 4 hours are fine going that long..?

Once they don't poop every feeding, no. I change when it feels full of wet then. Especially since by that point my kids are waking up to be held 8 times a night and eat 2 or 3.
My almost 2 year old goes 7:30-7 with no diaper change and pee, and she is fine.
We use swaddlemes with arms out because little miss C can roll on her side. She's been doing it since a few days after we brought her home. She hated having her arms in too but she probably does startle herself awake more.
And yess to the frustration of company letting the baby sleep in their arms all day long. Doesn't end up good for me all night
I've got the child (my second one in a row actually) who gets all sorts of pissed off if his diaper is even a little wet. We go through so many diapers here...

I change him before a feeding, then if he poops after the feeding, while we're still holding/burping, we'll change him again. After one of the MOTN feedings I did hear him poop after he was settled in the crib, usually he'll scream his head off with a dirty diaper but he fell right asleep after and I made the executive decision not to wake him up to change it. Put some extra butt paste on the next time though.

I feel like it is one thing to hold your own kid when you deal with the consequences if he/she sleeps all day and is up all night.
It is another thing if your mom/MIL/dad/FIL holds the kid all day and then leaves you to deal with the consequences. My mom has tried to keep holding one of my newborns through a feed and I have to remind her that I get one shot at a long stretch and she doesn't get to take it. Thankfully my mom usually listens eventually.

I'm going with the hold your baby as much as you want plan.
I'm currently awake eating/drinking before the 12pm cut off. I'm chugging down a vitamin water in the hopes I'll still have some residual sugar in my system tomorrow morning and not feel sick from not being allowed to eat/drink anything. We shall see if my plan works!

1am here...boooo. this one always gets a nice 3 your stretch for the first one of the night. And then after that he's every 90 minutes. What the hell piglet!
K has been hiccuping for almost ten minutes now. Poor little guy. I'm not sure how to help him stop them.
Will he nurse again? I think I did that the other night and it helped but I could be wrong. I'm shady on details at this moment. Gripe water for sure while help but it's 2am so that prob isn't helpful
I'm up for feeding #2. I hope she goes back down quickly because I am exhausted.
DH is going to take the first shift again tomorrow night so that will be nice. He offered to either trade off every other feeding or even to take a whole night. This is the most helpful he has ever been with a newborn (granted with the others I never asked), it took him until baby #3 but I'll take it now.
I just sat in front of my computer for almost 2 hours. It was for money making reasons, probably around 200 give or take, but omg ow. I feel squished. Gravity can blow me.
Edit: oh yeah, and reason #35432257 I will not be sleeping well tonight -- the construction folks are back right outside my front window. They are currently grinding away all the old paint on this stretch of street, so you can imagine how noisy that is. I am shocked DD is sleeping through it, except I have AC and a fan on, which may be juuuuuuust enough white noise. Or, she is just learning how awesome deep, uninterrupted sleep is. LOL Just in time for baby 2!
Moms of 2+, do your new babies and older kids wake each other up a lot? It sounds like a special hell mode for everyone involved.
