DD was still fussing after the second bottle at 2:30. I picked her up, put her down, gave a pacifier. Nothing worked. I finally sat her down and offered her the last 5ml of her last bottle. That's what got her to pass out. Really?!
I think we made it through the 7-10 day growth spurt. DD is still nursing pretty frequently during the day but I'm getting some 3-4 hour stretches of sleep at night. Of course that means more fighting with her when she does eat because she struggles to latch when my breasts are too full, but I will take that trade off.

This is our 4th feeding. Went down at 8:30. 11, 1, 3, 5:30. And 3 was a screamfest for no reason.
Seriously it's like this every night for the entire month he's been alive. I love breastfeeding I really do but is there ever a point when he will get full for longer than 2.5 hours?? I'm open to yesterday's suggestion of pumping one or two bottles for H to feed at night. But serious question... is he ever going to go longer on breast milk or am can I expect this forever/ until I switch to formula?
C was up at 2 so I picked him up to feed him and he passed out after about 15 seconds. I'm thinking it was another one of those times where I think he's up, but he's actually just being a loud sleeper. Changed him and got him to eat for about 5 minutes and we went back to sleep. He just got up again now, I thought he'd be up again much sooner!

They definitely stretch out their eating. Remember that, right now, his stomach is the size of his fist. So he gets full but it doesn't last very long. But yes, your baby will STTN even before you night wean completely
venyia, mine have never woken each other up, but I do use a sound machine in the big girls rooms. But they will literally be screaming right next to the baby and she sleeps through it.

Are you sure he is not tongue and/or lip tied? That can cause frequent feedings. It did with DD1
Also I start working toward stretching feedings at some point using other soothing tactics as needed.

I don't think so? The doctor has never said anything that he is. He has gained an above average amount of weight so it's pretty safe to assume he's getting full each feed. I try to give him a pacifier or rock him or whatever else and he just loses his mind until he gets to eat lol

spicysalmonroll I don't want to be totally discouraging but it was like that with dd3 until she was 7 months old. She didn't sleep through the night until 10 months and was inconsistent at that till we stoped bf around 15 months. That is why I decided with this one I wasn't going to exclusively bf. My first two got formula and were much better sleepers by the 3 month mark.
spicysalmonroll Yes, he will eventually go longer stretches, hugs, sleep deprivation is so hard. Since you have been feeding so regularly for a month now I would be comfortable with skipping a session for a bottle. What I did with my first who had a very similar nursing schedule was I would pump a bottle about an hour after his morning feed ( your supply is usually higher in the morning). I would do the 830pm feed and go straight to bed. DH would stay up and do the 11ish feed with the pumped bottle so that when he woke at 1ish I had about 4 hours of sleep, which at this point, will feel amazing.

Unfortunately, this was us with DS too. We ended up cosleeping, but he was still up multiple times a night until i weaned him at 18 months.
2 of my 3 kids turned out to have an undiagnosed lip tie. We never realized it until their front teeth grew in. I was pretty annoyed but since they gained well, the pedis don't care

DD1 did too. It will get clipped when she gets braces at 11. DD2's is clipped. DD3's might need clipping when she also gets braces. Sigh.

venyia The baby sleeps through *everything* (except excessive kisses from the bigs). They were literally both playing recorders (thanks mom!) the other day, and she slept through that. There was 1 night DS got up each time the baby woke up, but otherwise they've slept through it.

Doesn't it affect speech too?
There are conflicting schools of thought on that. But when DS1's artic was late-normal ITO development, and then I linked it to the lip tie, I was annoyed with my pedi

It can, and dental hygiene. However DD1 has a super severe lip tie and is really articulate. My brother had a very severe tongue tie that wasn't clipped until 18 and his speech was unaffected.
Our dentist will lip ties if tooth decay starts or speech and eating is not impacted. I will be shocked if DD1 breaks hers. She is super cautious.

venyia - DD2 rarely woke DD1, but at that point DD1 was used to putting herself to sleep so it was as simple as a brief word of reassurance and good night. I don't think DD3 wakes either big ever. They rarely wake her with tantrums right outside her door. We run fans in the rooms and keep doors closed.
Thanks to all the lip tie talk, I just discovered LO has upper lip tie. I checked for tongue tie and lower lip religiously, but somehow never checked upper. I even just said to my mom the other day "LO is going to have a gap. He has a little ridge between where his two front teeth go." How I missed the tie connected to the ridge is beyond me.
The google says this explains the gas troubles he's been having also.
FWIW, when my boys' front teeth grew in they closed the gap. They aren't still gap toothed

DD1 is, but not as bad as I thought. DD2 still is even after clipping, but she has yet the get her full set of baby teeth so I assume the gap will narrow.
@suesposa - it took about a month for DD2 to learn to latch better after laser clipping, but I was so glad I did it. Younger babies typically relearn faster. FX this helps you!

It's DD3's MOTN even though it is only 9. She seems to be having mucousy runny poops and her room smells like the awful gas DD2 had. Looks like the grateful baby tummy troubles are starting up and I can kiss sleep farewell for real. Eff it. We have never found a cause before, or a solution other than time.
