H and I have been throwing around a few new ideas for entertaining as well as trying new wines with dinner/date night.
I usually drink coconut rum and pineapple juice with cream of coconut. But have been trying a few different drinks lately. Some I liked some I didnt.
I'm really interested in trying new wines. We've talked about doing a wine tasting sometime soon because I've not really ever had a huge selection to try. Mostly different Arbor Mists. I would love to hear what your favorites are and any suggestions and it doesn't have to be just wine, anything fun and tasty. So if you drink, you go here lol.
Oooh that sounds good cnf2013, I'll have to try that. I like cranberry juice drinks as well. I've drank a few and made a few Washington apples. It's apple crown with cranberry juice. Tasted just like a fresh apple.
I don't drink much anymore so when I do, I try to make it something really good! I don't care for liquor (other than margaritas on occasion) because I don't like the way it makes me feel. I am okay with beer, especially pumpkin beers in the fall and spiced/holiday beers around Christmas, but really I am a wine girl at heart.
My all-time favorite wines are sauvignon blancs from New Zealand (there are a million different brands - I haven't met too many I didn't like so I usually try a new one and pick the prettiest label, lol) or an unoaked chardonnay (meaning they were aged in stainless steel vs. oak barrels) for white and pinot noir for red (my favorite is Meomi). Post-baby my taste buds have seemed to changed and I've been gravitating towards sweeter whites - reisling or pinot grigio (moscato is too sweet for me still). I'm still learning my way around these and don't really have a favorite yet (cnf2013, any must-try reislings you can think of?).

Anything from the Finger Lakes NY region! It was a perfect climate for reisling grapes and that's what the area is famous for. I haven't met one I don't like the yet!
I've never been much on cocktails and I enjoy wine, but my real love is craft beer. I love a good milk stout, especially aged in a whiskey/bourbon barrel, or a nice crisp lager. A couple of my favorites are New Holland Dragon's Milk (a milk stout) and 4 Hands Single Speed (lager). I also really enjoy whiskey and bourbon because apparently I'm an old man.
Ugh cnf2013, I miss those wines so much. The Rieslings in the area really are fantastic - the ones here just don't compare.
I love wine tasting parties! We've been to a few (always hosted by others) and it's a great way to try different varieties without committing much at all. I usually just go for something in the dry white category, although I've recently been into Malbecs. Like geners, I usually go for a pretty label or clever name haha.

I'm not huge on wine unless the mood hits me. If I want something alcoholic it's usually a beer. But my go to cocktail is a vodka tonic with lime. It's so light and refreshing.

What is a milk stout? Is it creamy? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I've never heard of italthough the milk stout in a whiskey bourbon barrel sounds like I could get on board.

It's sweet because they add a sweet lactose (hence milk) to it. It's still thick like any other stout, but not really creamy, just sweeter. Think dessert beer. Mmmmmm

I love coffee porters in the fall/winter and am a huge fan of most thing bubbles. My cheap go-to right now (since it's summer) is the crisp white Barefoot refresh... It's good for the price and is typically on sale at my grocery store. Otherwise, LaMarca prosecco is my standard and Veuve Clicquot champagne for special occasions. If I drink liquor, it's margaritas or greyhounds (vodka, grapefruit and lime... Add a splash of cranberry and you have a bloody greyhound)
