Now that she's walking and we are talking about going up to the next room at day care, we need shoes.
Any advice on getting size right? I was advised to go to stride rite, but I'm not about to spend $40 on shoes at this age. So we're going target or Kohls or something instead. But I don't want to be tripping her up on wrong sized shoes if I do it myself.

Help?
Once you get sized correctly, I would suggest going to a children's consignment shop. You can probably find the more expensive shoes that are barely worn, because of their age and growing so quickly.
I've been putting shoes on M since basically he was a new born, you know to complete his outfits! Lol! (but it has definitely helped him get used to wearing them)I just measure him myself and go to our stash of a billion shoes we've been handed down. Plus DS1 works at Nike and has bought him some super cute, and fairly expensive shoes (but he gets a discount, so that helps!)that he is just starting to fit into.

Stride Rite has a shoe sizing guide on their website you can print off and use. Target also has their Stride Rite line- Surprize I think it's called. We've had a few pairs for DD1. They definitely do not hold up as well as the Stride Rite ones, but good enough.
We've been doing Robeez (on sale) but they are not a thick bottom. I've read that the hard bottoms can be bad for their feet {citation here} so we do flexible sole shoes almost exclusively right now.
