newmomma8 gave me the idea: she shared her favorite memory thus far of the day she told her husband she was expecting her LO. Below is her story.

yalllow No video or anything special at all, I guess that's why I'll never forget it. Here it is, sorry if it's disappointing. Lol

I kept getting BFN's on home tests, I was two weeks late which was not normal even though AF was starting to come later and later very month when we started TTC, but two weeks was the longest. I knew something was up. So I called the dr right by my office and they said "so you need a blood test to confirm a positive home test?", I told her "sure, let's go with that answer". Found out the next morning, got so excited since I can't keep a secret and was determined to tell DH first since it was our first. I get home, I take my shower, wait on the couch,...DH walks in slams the door cussing up a storm with the broken garage door opener in his hand. "Damn thing won't work" he says. Lol He goes to change to finish painting the last wall of the living room, I'm about to DIE at this point since he won't slow down for me to bring it up. He starts unplugging the TV to move the entertainment center, I'm crying quietly at this point, and I blurt out "I'm pregnant" through my tears and start crying even harder. He automatically gets up, comes to grab me and says "well why are you crying?". So imagine in a crying state, the most childish way for this to come out "because you wouldn't stop and I couldn't tell you and I've kept it in all day". His response is laughter then he says "you REALLY haven't told ANYONE all day?!?!?"

Nothing special, but to know me and him, it's funny for us. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I wrote "I'm pregnant" on a plate with chocolate syrup and put it in the fridge. When he came home from work, I told him that I made dessert and it was in the fridge. He was happy, but also scared because we had a loss 2 months prior.

I think I threw a fit. I did not want to be pregnant. It is miserable for me. My husband got accepted to a 5 year clinical trial for a medicine. We were told he could not impregnate anyone while in the trial so they would hold his spot while he knocked me up. I put it off for 6 months and then when the poor guy couldn't take it any longer and had to start the medicine I caved. I chatted and got pregnant first month. NO LIE the day after I ovulated my H gets a call from the head doctor on the trial who says they made a mistake and the ban on pregnancy is only for women. Obviously it worked out, but no more kiddos for me. My body doesn't like pregnancy.

My boyfriend and I had been discussing getting married and buying a house together - he didn't think he ever wanted to get married or have kids before me and he was still pretty insistent that he didn't want a kid. I knew for about a month that I was pregnant, but my birthday was coming up and I didn't want him to think that he had to propose, so my plan was to tell him after my birthday (six weeks pregnant).

I planned on telling him the day after my birthday and the day just kept on passing. We went to dinner at his mom's house and on the way home we saw a house for sale and started joking about him being a stay at home dad - because, that had been our discussion/plan as we discussed marriage, house and kids. We kept making jokes and finally out of nowhere I yelled, "I'm pregnant!"

He thought it was a joke and then I started just rambling on about wanting to tell him. We joke about it a lot and it is still usually my strategy for when I need to tell him something - I just say it out of nowhere.

Hubs and I tried for a long while for our second. I was working out losing weight and every month I was getting more frustrated.

One night the day before my period was to start I had a dream that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I woke up ( was a Tuesday) and had one FRER.
Peed on it and it immediately turned. I could not believe it. I ran out to the living room and said, "BABE!" Hubs looked at it and said, "no denying that second line!"



We kept it hush till I was three months and announced on a family trip. We were all supposed to be wearing red shirts but I changed Sloan's at the last minute.

I always feel bad admitting how much I didn't want to be pregnant when people struggle so much. HG really makes pregnancy a miserable experience. I also never wanted a special needs kid and look where that got me.

we had decided to start trying in May 2013. That first month I got an evap line the night before my period started. I was so upset. The next month we weren't really going to be trying because we were going on vacation. I ended up getting knocked up on that vacation. Something felt different. I never had any cramps like I normally did and I knew based on my charting that my period was supposed to start that day. So I took a test. I saw a faint second line so I took two more. Two more faint second lines. I called DH and asked him if he could do lunch. At lunch, I showed him the pics of the tests and he was cautiously optimistic. 9 months later and we had DD!

My period was a couple days late and I had really bad cramping. DH told me I was pregnant so I took a test and he was right! He looked at the test first and told me it looked like I was going to be taking some time off. We weren't really trying but I wasn't on bc and we've never used condoms so getting pregnant wasn't a huge surprise to us.

DH and I decided to start trying in May 2013. I didn't know anything about ovulation but looking back, there was no way we could have gotten pregnant that month. June slipped by and I was starting to already be impatient. I remember in July we went out to a nice dinner and talked more and decided to put off trying for a few more months. We had a lot of upcoming events and I wanted to be able to drink. A week later I decided to take a test a day early just to see and I was shocked to see it turn. I ran into the bedroom and woke DH up and said 'I'm pregnant!' He looked at the test, said that's nice babe and rolled over to go back to sleep.

I called my grandma next who was so excited to hear she was going to have a great grand child. (She made me promise I'd tell her as soon as I found out.) then I sent a snap chat of the positive portion to my BF. (Because we're classy chicks, lol.)

It was about two weeks after we got home from a cruise and I was still feeling a little dizzy. At first I just said it was my body just getting uses to bring back on land but I also read that it was an early pregnancy sign. I had to stop at the grocery store one night so I just threw an early detection kit just for the hell of it. Took the test before DH got home and I got a really faint line. I kept it to myself for the night, tested again the next morning, same thing. I texted one of my girl friends on my way into work and she said "a line's a line!" It just happened that that week was DH's birthday so when he got home from work I told him I had an early birthday gift for him.

I stopped taking BC in Dec 2012 when my prescription ran out, because I knew DH was really itching to have a baby. After a couple months of him trying to convince me on the matter, I promised him that after I got back from visiting my parents in March that we would stop preventing and just let life take it's course. In early/mid July, I was just cruising the internet the one night and DH was playing his video games and I randomly said "I feel like I should have gotten my period by now, don't you?" and he said "sure, I don't know...want me to go buy you a test?" Of course it was like 11pm and the only Walgreens that was open was like 15 minutes away. So, he goes to buy a test. I take it, it shows up positive, and I just walked out of the bathroom and said "Hi Daddy!" and he gave me a hug and kiss and told me how excited he was. I had a hard time believing it at first, so I took another test on my own a couple days later to just make sure haha

It was our second month trying, and three months after our loss. I was ok with the BFN the first month, but I would have been really upset had it not happened that second month. I don't like MH to know when I am testing because I can convince myself it may not be positive and I am not sure he can. I was going to wait until the next day (9DPO, when I got my last BFP) but I could barely move on the tennis court the night before and I was really hopeful. MH had a 5K that morning so I waited until he left to get up and POAS. Actually he left, but I looked outside and he was waiting for his ride for quite a while, thank goodness I didn't have to pee super bad.

I refused to look at the test right away, I washed my hands, and let the dog out to pee. Came back, omg, it's positive. MH wouldn't be home for hours and I had to tell someone....so I told the dog (he didn't care), texted my best friend and my TB friend and then went shopping with my SIL and told her. I felt kind of bad about it, but oh well. Once he was home, I gave him a wrapped box about the size of a shoe box. He asked if it was baby related and I said no. He unwrapped it and inside was a smaller box, inside that another box, and another until he got to the Tobelerone bar (candy bar). He was like thats it, all that for a candy bar? I told him to open it and inside was the test. The box inside a box thing was how he proposed to me, so I thought he would think it was really cute, plus be happy that we got pregnant so quick this time (took 7 months the first loss, a year the second). He's not a yippie yay kind of guy anyway, and despite wanting another baby, he was scared, but I was dissapointed with his reaction. If we ever have another, he's just getting an "I'm pregnant"

I snuck out of bed early Saturday morning, poas, saw the positive, and snuck back into bed. He had woken up and I told him. I couldn't even keep it in to plan something cute.

Found out July 4th- H couldn't believe it until the next day when I took another one. We went hiking on July 4th and I kept slipping a wet rocks...all I kept thinking was "please let this tiny speck be ok" hahahaha explains a lot about my kid now

We had decided we were going to start trying so in July I bought a test right around when my period was supposed to start. Our anniversary is July 7th so I took the test on the 5th, this was our 1 year. He knew I was taking one so when I went back in and saw pregnant I just walked out with a huge smile, nothing cute for me, I wouldn't have been able to keep it a secret.

We were on a trip to Iceland to visit the ILs and I brought only 2 wondfos with me. I used one very early (too early) and it was negative. AF was absent so I used the other one and it was a BFP.

I was convinced it was wrong because the only cup I had was an empty pill bottle from my thyroid meds lol. I told DH to come into the bathroom and take a look at something. I was convinced it was wrong so the next day we went to get another test.

He sent me in alone since DD was sleeping in the car and the pharmacy didn't have any tests in English, so I guessed and brought it out. DH messed with me and told me it was to test something ridiculous.

We got home and I went to POAS and we got to tell the ILs in person.

I feel the same way about the HG- we want two more. I dont want to get KU but I want more kids. I'd be happy given my back if James and Ethan were it- but we always talked about having 4.

I took a pregnancy test after James had gone to bed (I was watching 28 days later) and got a positive. Next day I got up early (James and Jimmy still asleep) and went to the store to get a small onesie (which we took Ethan home in) and some brownies and made a onesie plate of brownies (sounds messier than it was) and woke Jimmy up. We tried for 18 months for Ethan so Jimmy was wicked happy. We had just decided a week or two before for me to go back on BC.

I poas and left it because watching it gave me anxiety, then I forgot and when I got back home later it was super pink. So I poas again and it turned pink super quick.

Pretty much that's it.

Can I just say I'm extremely jealous that all of ya'll got actual BFP's at home??? I NEVER got a BFP. I tried several different brands, different times of the day and even after I knew I was pregnant,...never a yes! So I didn't get the POAS excitement I wanted.

This also makes me worry that I'll be KU with our second one and have a repeat of BFN's on the tests and just think I'm not KU.

We did IVF and I promised dh I wouldn't test before the blood test. When the nurse called with the results, I had to wait until DH and I were both home from work so we could listen to the voice mail together.
We were of course thrilled when she said I was pregnant, but restrained because we had just had a horrible early loss two months prior.
I don't think either of us allowed ourselves to get truly excited and hopeful until we heard the heartbeat at 6 weeks.
Not the best or cutest story for sure and I'm sad I will probably never get to surprise DH with a BFP, but oh well!

I had just gone back to Canada for the summer, and DH was still in Kuwait. I'd come off birth control about 2 months earlier, so I knew my cycle wouldn't be regular. But I figured my period should be starting any day. Then it wasn't, so I started getting nervous because it was summer in Canada and I like beer.

I had to walk to the store because I didn't have a car and I didn't want to tell anyone. The whole time I'm telling myself that it's a waste of time. I'm only tired because of the jet lag. Got my test and walked back home to take it.

The thing turned positive right away.

I called my husband over skype and didn't even try to be coy. I actually took the panicked route. I believe my exact words were, "I have a positive pregnancy test. But it could just be cancer." (I did a lot of research on false positives). He was super happy. I tested again the next day and accepted that my summer of drinking was just not going to happen.

I tracked my period in a period tracker as a way of avoiding pregnancy when I went off the pill (I wanted a few months to "reset" before getting pregnant). I used the same period tracker to guess the week we should have a little extra sex....we did. I tested the day I was supposed to get my period the next month, and BFP. I took like 3 more tests, went for a run, showered & then told DH. I needed some time to process, I never expected it to happen so quickly, and neither did he. BUT once we heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks (9 weeks?) and saw the little alien bean we were beyond over the moon.

Anyway, not very sentimental, but that's just not how I am anyway.

I hate to say anything with some people having trouble conceiving, but my LO is a divine intervention child. DH and I were using TWO forms of contraception. The problem for us was I had some sort of stomach bug the week before I conceived and was vomiting continually for 5 days. Apparently you have to hold the birth control pill down for at least 30 minutes for it to absorb. and we had a condom break at the perfect time. We had discussed having children, my DH was not real keen on the idea because he has a birth defect and was very concerned about passing it on, I have always wanted kids. We had a huge fight a few years ago about it and I had come to the decision that I loved the relationship I had with my DH and I did not want to risk leaving and having kids with someone who I did not have that kind of relationship with.
My BC pills are on an auto refill and I normally get a text from the pharmacy the Friday before I start the new pack. Well I get the text then realize I have not started yet. DH is out of town until Sat night. He is almost done with his second bachelors which he completed in a year, and is a week from his finals. Friday I had an OLD test at home from a scare a few years back so I POAS and it was a faint positive, but I am not sure because the test is so old and out of date. SO Saturday I stop by a store and get a two pack and POAS that day and get another faint positive. As of this time I was only 2 weeks from conception. So I freak a little Dh wil be home later, but her has two test to take sunday (online exams) and I really don't want to bring this up until after his test because if he bombs them because he is pissed/distracted I will feel like shit, so I keep my mouth shut. Sunday I cant get him out of the house, the sooner he leaves the sooner he comes home and the sooner I can tell him. He finally gets home around 5 pm and I just loose it, I am convinced he is going to be so pissed about the situation and leave me, (I had way to much time to think about every situation) I finally get it out that I think I am pregnant, I don't tell him I have already peed on a stick I think he will take it better that way, but I do have a test if he thinks we should do it. So again I POAS and its slightly positive. He just looks at me and says great, we are adults, have stable jobs, we make great money, have a house and 2 new cars, why are you crying, we can do this. Of course that response just set me off crying again.
Now he is so wrapped around LO's finger its not even funny. She was born healthy and that is all that matters.

We had been trying for almost a year, during which time all of my friends announced their pregnancy. We were tracking and sexing but no pregnancy. We decided to stop tracking and thinking about it and see what happened.

We came back from the July long weekend and I remember thinking I should have af by now, but thought nothing of it. Later that week I was walking home and was incredibly tired. So not having a period and being super tired made me suspicious. I took a test on Friday morning and walked into the bedroom to wake DH. His response was "that's great!" And a kiss and then he went back to sleep.

However it really hit us two weeks later when I had a bleed in the morning. DH had left for work and I went to the docs. They ended up sending me to the hospital to check for a heartbeat as they suspected a miscarriage. DH had ridden his bike to work and couldn't get to me before all the procedures. So it wasn't until after it all when he was finally there that my doc told me the pregnancy was fine and the baby had a good strong heartbeat. We grabbed each other and cried and kissed. To get there he had to call his mum to come and get him so she found out at the hospital. Then I went to tell my mum who screamed hehe. We were most excited then than for my BFP !

We did IVF so it wasn't as climatic as others. My first beta was scheduled for July 4th, but it had to be moved to the following day because of the holiday. I said "eff that, I'm not waiting" and took a test as soon as I got home from work on the 3rd. DH was yelling at me and demanding that I not POAS. Naturally, I ignored him because I do what I want. It was positive before I stopped peeing. Ran downstairs, slammed the test on the counter, and said "boom, shit worked." I immediately started crying, DH got giggly, and we went out for celebratory drinks (DH, not me). His BFF was there so I'm confident his reaction was less reserved in light of his presence.

BFP1: It was our first month of not using birth control. My period was very regular and when it didn't show up, I think we were kind of like "Uhhhhh....so soon?" BFP! I think we were both kind of in denial. The day before my first appt (at ~8 wks), I had spotting so I called and went in and long story short, I had a missed m/c and ended up with a D&C.

So we took about 4 months off - went back to using condoms. My period continued to be all wonky and I was in the middle of some tests with the OB to make sure everything was okay post D&C

BFP2 (DD1): It was our first month not using birth control again and even though my period was wonky, when it didn't show up when I thought it would, I took a test without telling DH. It was the middle of the day on a Saturday and I just went back to the bathroom and POAS. DH had no idea. When it showed BFP, I basically took it out to the living room and as DH likes to tell it, I "shoved it in his face." So he was a little caught of guard.

BFP3 (DD2): My period was due the weekend we were moving. Expect it Friday. No show. Tell DH, I think I'm pregnant. But with the moving and my mom was in town to help with DD, I just couldn't deal with knowing. So I wait til freaking MONDAY (maybe Tuesday?) after my mom goes home to test and BFP. Not much fanfare, but I had been telling DH all weekend "I think I'm pregnant" and he kept asking if I wanted to test and I kept saying "Nope. Can't deal right now." LOL

We had been trying, with me charting for 13 months. I had a chemical pregnancy at 11 months so resisted testing early. My breasts were EXTREMELY sensitive and my dh commented on my nipples (yes standing up), he said you are pregnant I know it. I tested at 2pm or some crazy time and got a darker than dark line. My precious Levi was worth the wait. My dh waited 48 years to have him!


Just want to add those that apologized or whatnot regarding their experiences with becoming pg, wanting/not wanting another pregnancy, etc.  Please don't apologize for your feelings.  They are valid and do not negate the feelings/experiences of someone else.

I feel kind of like a slacker for not doing something special to tell MH, now.

It took over a year of trying and many months of drugs and doctor visits to get KU with DD1. After having her, I never used any type of bc, because ovulating on my own was really unlikely. We figured I'd go back on the drugs when DD was 1 or 2, and if I got KU before that, it would be a pleasant surprise. So it was a surprise when DD was 8 months old, lol.
We were planning on going out, likely drinking, and I hadn't had a period in 3 months, so I POAS just to be safe. Peed, thought nothing of it bc I was sure it was negative, hopped in the shower. 10 min later, MH throws open the shower curtain and says "hey, you're pregnant!" To which I said "shut up. Stop fucking with me. "
