babys2015 Yeah, and we could live on it for 18 months if we had to but O would have to leave daycare. That would kill me. I am hoping we can delay enough to have all offers to decide from. Ugh.
If it is not his dream job and he had a chance at his dream job I would wait. I would hate for him to take the old position just to have a job and then be offered and have to turn down his dream job.
Hold out if possible. Does he expect a call from the old company this week if it comes? If so, don't answer, have them leave a message for him to call back. Maybe that'll buy time! I, too, say hold out for the dream job.
Also, if old job offers him to come back, does that automatically void the money?
I wanted to add, if dream job is the one he went on an interview with last week and the guy is on vacation this week, have your h send him an email expressing gratitude for the interview and looking forward to hearing from guy after vacation. It's a good gesture.
ajacot924, if you guys will be ok for a little bit I'd say hold out for the dream job. Yes, O may have to leave DC for awhile but staying home with daddy may be great for her.
My father has been laid off so. many. times. He'd be hired back, just to be laid off again.
DON'T DO IT. It's an endless cycle. I don't mean to be doom and gloom, but do not stay with a company that holds yearly layoffs. Your family doesn't need that stress.

ajacot924 - Sorry for posting and running yesterday. Things got cray here. I'm in agreement with everyone else. Unless you can't keep the lights on, I would decline the same company, take the severance and keep fighting for the dream job. I would hate to close the door on it, just to have a job, if that makes any sense. Regardless of your decision, lots of luck and hugs mama!! It's a rough situation to be in.
