M doesn't seem to react to food I am eating, but has reflux. The pedi said reflux peaks around 4 months and generally gets better as solids are introduced. Cutting out dairy can help in a lot of cases, but takes about a month to see results. There are several ladies on the cloth diaper board who have cut out dairy and other foods and they might be able to give advice. I hope you can find something that works!
scotty138 I can't remember - is M on meds for the reflux?
ETA forgot tag
We didn't put M on meds because he's considered a "happy spitter" most of the time. It only occasionally seems to hurt. They said the meds reduce the acid but not the amount of spit up.
We are elimining dairy and soy. It's in everything and very hard. I have to eliminate for several weeks to truly be able to tell. I've found suggesting reflux and milk protein allergy go together 50 percent if the time.
I'm pretty sure my baby has Milk Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI). His next doctors appt is Friday, so we'll see if the doctor agrees.
He's been exclusively formula fed since he was 7 days old. We are having a hell of a time figuring out a formula that agrees with him. So far Similac Alimentum seems to be working ok (but only the ready to feed, he throws up the powder).
A friend told me that sometimes the Vit-D drops for BF'ed babies can cause tummy trouble. I confirmed it with our pedi. Drop the Enfamil-type drops and get the CONCENTRATED Vit-D! Its the kind where need 1 drop or like, .25mL. I think ours is "Wellspring" brand but there are other brands as well. You can get them on Amazon, or we got ours at Target, etc.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
Alimentum rtf is the only formula without corn syrup solids. The powder does have it. Maybe your LO had a corn intolerance?

Yes, exactly. Right now milk and corn seem to cause upchucking, and soy caused constipation. Poor bub.

Late to this point (and new to this board) but wanted to offer my experience.
DS had terrible reflux in the first month - he strained in pain when pooping or gassy, he had huge "volcano" spit-ups minutes after eating, and his poop was often avocado green with stringy mucous in it. These were the three symptoms that lead our pedi to conclude he had a dairy intolerance. I had been eating a lot of yogurt, cheese and milkshakes and it was kind of painful to give up, but within 2 weeks (it does take awhile for the milk proteins to leave your body) his symptoms all got much better - no more huge spit-ups, normal peanut butter-color poop without mucous and a much more happy tooter. We also added a high quality probiotic once a day to a bottle to help regulate his digestive system, which we continue to this day (he's 19 weeks.) We found that gripe water helped a lot when he had fussiness due to gas - 1 teaspoon given up to 6 times a day either when he was fussy or preventatively. (We since have stopped the gripe water as his gas has gotten much better.)
Every couple of weeks I'll have something cheesy and he'll have bad gas within a day or two, so I feel confident that is the problem.
DS was born 3 weeks early and via c-section which I know can lead to deficiencies in gut bacteria, but that's just our situation. In my research it seems like a very common problem and babies often outgrow it after 6 months or so.
I tried cutting all dairy and it has been really difficult. I'm having a hard time finding things to eat. My appetite dropped and I noticed my milk started looking really watery when I pumped. LO has been extra gassy and fussy the last few days, so I decided to add dairy back in but limit it. We are transitioning him to soy formula for a couple weeks to see if it makes a difference. If he seems totally better, we will probably keep him on it and I will wean. I wanted to keep BF but I just don't know that I could keep up with a dairy free diet for long. And I just want him to be happy and not uncomfortable
If you want to try dairy free again, I can help you with recipes. We have been a dairy and soy free house for close to seven years now. I have lots of great recipes and snack ideas. Just let me know.

I 100% understand where you're coming from about wanting your LO to be comfortable. We tried a bunch of different formulas and eventually saw an allergist who confirmed a Milk allergy in my LO. From what she told me, its common for LOs to be intolerant to both soy and dairy, so if you dont see a huge change dont' get discouraged! Could be worth checking out a hypoallergenic formula like Nutramigen or Allimentum. Hugs lady, and lmk if you have any milk/soy allergy/intolerance questions. It's been my world for the past two months.
ETA, dairy takes 2 weeks to leave your system, and then another 2 to leave baby's.
xxkimmy8xx his pedi gave me a sample can of Alimentum to try if the soy didn't help. I'm realllllly hoping he can take the soy. Alimentum is so expensive!
creepyeyeball, recipe help please. I often feel lost on what to feed my family. I can't eat gluten or soy and now we added dairy.
I don't eat any of those things either. What kinds of foods do you like? Let me know and I'll share recipes. Are you looking for meals, snacks, desserts?
