On 8/24 I was induced for gestational hypertension. It started with cytotec overnight which aggravated my back pain along with being stuck in bed. Foley bulb was placed in the morning which worsened my back pain and actually caused about 2 hours of worthless contractions due to cervical trauma from a difficult insertion. Foley was removed about 9 pm and I was at 6 cm thankfully.
We started pitocin at 11:30 pm and my water broke without any contractions around 2:30 am. Contractions quickly started and became very uncomfortable. My Doula came to the hospital and we quickly moved to the tub which helped slightly but not enough. I was exhausted from the 3-step induction and I was getting really nauseated with each contraction and wasn’t able to relax between them anymore. I was checked again after getting out of the tub and was at a 6/7. At that point, I was worried because I couldn’t relax, I would take forever to complete and I wanted to save the experience. We ended up getting an epidural around 5:30 am. After that I had a lot of bottom pressure but we saved cervical checks because I had an increased temp and they didn’t want more exposure.
At around 9 am we checked me again and I was complete. Pushed for about 45 minutes and my little peanut Al.ice Cl.aire was born at 10:34 am on 8/26 weighing 5 lbs, 5 oz, measuring 19 inches. I LOVED pushing.
Miss A did have some blood sugar issues due to her size and ended up with some jaundice which required about 18 hours of phototherapy. She has also struggled a bit with feeding and required finger feeds for a few days as well with formula. I continue to have issues with my blood pressure but we were able to go home Sunday evening.
Nursing is getting much much better now that my milk came in and her day 3 bilirubin was perfect.
We are so so so in love and I can’t even remember the fact that it took 18 months, several failed IF treatments and acupuncture to get our peanut. She’s here and she’s perfect.
