It's Wednesday! Time for the "old lady" check in!! How is everyone doing this week? 1. How old is LO? 9 weeks, 4 days 2. Any milestones? What's baby up to? LO had his 2 month check up yesterday and has nearly doubled birth weight! He is now 12lbs, 8oz and is 24 1/4" long! I feel like he grew quickly all of a sudden-he was still in some NB clothes a little over a week ago and had just moved up to size 1 diapers! Now he's almost too long for his 3 month sleepers! How does that happen so fast??? As much as I loved the NB stage, I am so excited for this baby stage! He is so talkative and happy lately. He just discovered he can suck his thumb and is blowing bubbles. I think this is a fascinating time! The Dr was happy with his physical and developmental growth, I had been worried I don't stimulate him enough, but she said at this point, overstimulating could be harmful and just cuddling and talking to him is what he needs most. I like that! 3. How's sleeping? If he sleeps with me fantastic! He'll sleep 5-6 hours, then another 3-4 hours. If I put him in bassinet, he's up in 2 hours to nurse, then in another 2 hours for a bottle. Then wants to stay awake and snuggle. We're getting there, but taking a lot of time/patience...so much easier to let him sleep with me and nurse as he wants. 4. Anything else you want to talk about? I can't stop thinking about being a SAHM even though we really can't afford it. I do love my job so it makes for such mixed emotions. I'm only PT now which does help-I get to be home with baby 3 days a week, and I get to miss work enough to not feel anxious about being away. It helps that baby stays with H two days and either my good friend or my mom the other two days. But it still makes me anxious in the AM as i prepare his bag for the day.
QOTW: what's your favorite movie of all time? I don't really have a favorite movie, but I do prefer the "oldies" like Goonies, Beetlejuice, Indiana Jones...and anything with Robin Williams. I can't even think of a recent movie I would like to see again someday.

eliz77 Wow to baby almost doubling birth weight! Those growth spurts are no joke huh?! We are reaching the end of 3 month clothes too. Glad to hear what the doc said about overstimulating because I too feel like I don't stimulate baby enough. Now I don't have to feel guilty working and SAHM has its positives. I am basically a SAHM and I do miss getting out in the adult world a bit and talking to others. Yesterday I had spit up on my shoulder and did not even realize it until I went to bed and saw it all dried up. The glam life I am living here huh? LOL At least part time you get out of the house plus get to spend a lot of time with baby. And nice that H or mom can watch baby!
rn536 It made me feel better to hear Dr say that about overstimulating-I was feeling like I have been boring my baby! I have a good friend who also watches LO, she is a nanny and studied child development, and she tells me the same thing all the time. She is not a fan of flashcards and all those gimmicks and says talking to baby and encouraging expressions are the best thing to do right now. She loves to have babies see themselves in the mirror and have a simple toy to reach/hold on. She feels a lot of the stuff out there does more harm than good by overstimulating. I'm following her suggestions and baby seems happy and thriving, so that's what matters most!

2. I got some real smiles finally! And for the past three days he's been looking at everything. There is just so much to see! It's been interfering with napping a bit, because he wants to see all the things, even though he is tired.
3. Last night was amazing. 4.5 hour stretch, then 1.5 hours of feeding/look at all the things (even in hardly any light), then another three hours! I don't know what happened to my up every 1.5-2.5 hours baby, but I'll take it.
4. We went to our first movement and music class at the local library. The class was for two and under. I didn't know what to expect. I'd say most of the kids were at least a year old - LO was the only little baby. He liked the music and looking around, and feel asleep halfway through (to the amazement of the other moms, since it was so noisy. I guess they forget the littlest ones really like it loud). He only woke up when the class moved on to beating little wooden sticks together.
Just reading through the discussion. I'm pretty careful not to overstimulated him. We went out this morning, so I will keep things calm and quiet for the rest of the day. We've been doing good so far with avoiding the witching hour. He's developing at his own pace and seems happy and content. I talk to him and read to him. He loves looking at the pendulum swing on the wall clock. I think for how little he is, that's plenty for his mind to process.
pooky08 hooray for the great stretch of sleep!! FX it's stays that way! Usually around 8 weeks is the key change so you are basically there. How cute that class sounds!!
1. Emmett is 10 weeks tomorrow 2. I don't think anything new is happening. He is "talking" a ton and watching everything around him. 3. I have embraced sleeping together. He sleeps 4+ hours with me (I have a bed in his room). For now I have given up on the crib and RNP. If DH puts him down, he starts in the RNP but doesn't last more than an hour. I ordered the zippy and hope it works for Emmett. I'm going straight to the crib with him when it comes. Naps are sorta the same. He will sleep in his swing, but not as long as if I was holding him 4. I'm starting to think E has an allergy to the formula. His bm's are always green and wet. And when he passes gas he sometimes seems to be in such pain with his cries. I've talked to the dr, but I think it needs to be addressed again.
My favorite movie is dirty dancing. Love me some Johnny Castle

1. She's 7.5 weeks.
2. She's really smiling now, and it's adorable. I can tell she's a lot more aware of the world around her. We have a giraffe toy she really likes.
3. Still good. She's consistently sleeping from 9 til 6, then we can put her back down for another couple of hours. Daytime naps still aren't really a consistent thing.
4. Footie pants are great. Why aren't there more of them?
QOTW: what's your favorite movie of all time? I don't think I have one. The old Indiana Jones movies I end up watching a lot since they come on TV all the time, but hard to say if I have a favorite.
pros521 awe dirty dancing. Dreaming of Johnny castle now. Oh to the baby stuff! The green watery poop does sound like a sensitivity of some sort. See what pedi thinks. Have you tried different types of formula? Hope the sleeping issues sort themselves out. FX the zippy works! apsalartoll still so jealous of the sleep! Sounds great. I agree with the footy pants. Socks on baby's suck!'
rn536, he has been on sensitive formula for at least a month now and I got a formula mixing device to minimize bubbles. I told the pedi at his 2mo about the green and wet and she didn't seem to care. She didn't say anything actually. Even knowing he's on sensitive and DD wound up with alimentum. I told DH we need to go back before his 4 mo if nothing changes
