So, we finally have an outside baby! Kinda nuts that she decided to come at 35+5, but we are happy to have here here safe and sound!
Tuesday afternoon, I started feeling lots of back pain. I went to the bathroom and my toilet paper was stained pink. Cue my panic. After handling a couple of after school rehearsals, I went home and laid down, trying to get the back pain to go away. It didn't, so I took a warm bath to try to ease the pain. It did, so I laid down and called my husband. Mid conversation, miss sassy pants decides to punch me straight in the uterus, which HURT. Right after the punch, I felt a whoosh of liquid come down my cervix and vagina. Cue the real panic, my water broke! I told my husband and then quickly started packing my bags. Cause I never thought that she would come this early! We definitely are NOT ready!
We drive to the hospital and arrive at 8. It takes the ladies at triage a moment to get to me, but they eventually confirm that it was indeed my water that broke and they measure my cervix and find that I am already two centimeters dialated. I go to a labor room.
I labored without many meds for about 4 hours and managed to get to 3 centimeters on my own before some stronger contractions hit. At that point I decided to stop playing hero and get the epidural. They also decided to give me some pitocin. After that point, I was able to get some sleep. By about 5 am we had reached 5 cm, so I went back to sleep. At 7 am I was fully dilated! It was baby time!
The midwife let me labor down for an hour and then it was time to start pushing. After about 20 minutes of active labor and pushing, Sall.y Miche.lle came out and we started bawling. 6lbs, 12 ounces and 18.5 inches of the most perfect creature I've ever held! I've never felt this much love for a person in my life!
Our baby girl was checked out by the nicu nurses and they told me that she was perfectly healthy and would not need any time in the NICU, despite being born a month early! DH and I are over the moon and we can't believe that after 6 years of trying and losses we finally have our rainbow. And what a beautiful rainbow she is!
TLDR: Water broke at 35+5 weeks. After a relatively easy labor, our baby girl was born after only 20 minutes of pushing. I still can't believe it!
