Is this my head or a scratching post?

Mr. Itchy-scratchy has been scratching his head and face to the point of bleeding since he was about 2 months old.  He has eczema which we put a Rx ointment on that clears it up and takes the itch away, but he still scratches (maybe to self soothe?).  We put socks or scratch sleeves on him day and night which gives me major mommy-guilt bc he loves to explore things with his hands.  Is anybody else dealing with this too or have any suggestions?  Sometimes he looks like he got in a fight with a pissed off kitty.

My sister is having this with her 4 month old. She tries to cut/file his nails regularly.

no experience with that here, but that sounds rough!! I hope things clear up soon for your little guy!
