I'm here! Rainy day here and I don't really have anything to do. (Well, except for taking care of my almost 18-month-old munchkin.) I might take us to the mall just to walk around and do something. My old friend from high school just had a baby and I want to get her a gift. She lives in a self-constructed mud house in rural Oregon. What to get for a baby gift for a family that eschews all things material?

Morning! My confession: We are 9 days into DH's 20 day work trip. I took yesterday off and sent DD to daycare so I could rest. I don't feel bad since I ended up spending most of the day packing up her too-small/summer clothes and going shopping for new fall/winter clothes for her.

Does anyone watch This Is Us? Can we discuss? I finally caught up on this weeks episode and now I'm undecided. I LOVED the first episode but the second was meh. Is it their goal to shock us with the end scene every episode? I can't decide if I'm going to be able to stick with it.

Yes! I felt the same way. First episode was great, second was meh at best. I will give it a few more episodes but I'm not convinced that they can live up to my expectations.
I want sushi so badly today, I can't even handle this cravinggggggg. Someone suggest one or two super fab cooked rolls I can go get please!!! No California, that's lame lol

I had shashimi a couple of weeks ago. It was delicious. I'm allergic to avocado so I tend to avoid sushi rolls. Egg rolls though, I'm all over them

eel, cucumber, avocado shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, spicy mayo
FFFC, inspired by a parenting UO: I don't let visitors, particularly my ILs, stay with us overnight. My ILs always get a hotel room for the weekend. They are only allowed over from 10am-7pm, at which time, they're promptly told to GTFO. They are too much and I can't handle more than 9 hours of them at one time, particularly when I can't drink
Okay so today I'm craving all the things. I've also decided that I must have the salad dressing they put on the salads at sushi restaraunts. It appears to be something you can't buy and must make. Anyone ever make it/have any good experiences making it? I googled some recipes, and I'll pick up the supplies of the one with the best reviews.

Good morning!! I'm here.
Tackling the mountain that is my laundry basket and then finishing tidying up the kitchen.
LLR party tomorrow.
thenewkmr I'm not a huge sushi fan but I had something called a laughing eel roll one time and it was super yummy.
I don't remember exactly what was in it except for obvs the cooked eel.
mustloveerica I've been watching This Is Us as well. I'm kind of the same boat as you. I'm going to give it a few more episodes but I don't really know how I feel about it now.
downtheshore what about food or like a snack basket and maybe some bath salts (if they have a bathtub) or some good lotion or something.

I have the strangest lunch today because I was just trying to clean out our leftovers in the fridge. So my lunch consists of a small bowl of egg, sausage and potato breakfast casserole, a quarter of a chicken ranch quesadilla, 1 small piece of grilled chicken and a bowl of miscellaneous steamed veggies.

Raw salmon is pretty safe. I've read that you're more likely to get food borne illness from cooked chicken than sushi grade salmon. Of course do what makes you feel safe, but no way I'm not eating sushi for 9 months.

I feel like this dressing varies a bit by region/restaurant. If your food desires are as stupidly specific as mine I would just call up a place you like and ask if you can get a container of dressing. Brought to you by my frustration at buying the wrong brand of sweet pickle relish and therefore being unable to look at it much less eat it.

I'm also undecided. I just don't love the storylines.

Hiya! Please spoiler any This is Us spoilers, I won't get to watch until this weekend! My boss loved the second episode so I'm disappointed to hear that others aren't feeling the same way.
My FFFC is that I have a credit with a LLR consultant for the Lindsay I returned, and she's having a party tonight during a time when I'll have company. I think I'm going to go hide in the bathroom to shop so I don't miss out...

Here too! Daycare is closed for teacher training, so I took the day off to spend with my little. It's so much harder than work, lol. (Minus the midday nap, phew!)
For anyone on the fence, my OB says that sushi from a reputable restaurant is fine. And now I want some!

FFFC I really don't like sushi. I've tried multiple types and pretty haven't liked any of it with the exception of that one roll I talked about earlier

FFFC: When I was pregnant with DD I went to an all-you-can-eat sushi place with a co-worker and went to town on lots of raw fish sushi.
DH got a gift card to the same restaurant for his birthday and we never got around to getting a sitter so we could go. After I found out I was pregnant, he was like, "Guess that gift card is benched until April..." and I was all like, "Oh, yeah..." because I'd rather we use it when I can have wine.

I know someone who lived in a home like that!
They still have to dress baby, so maybe some clothes? Maybe shoot for organic cloth? Or a book!
I have a major headcold/sinus crud. I'm achy and tired but it's uncomfortable to sleep since my sinuses are so messed up. Hope I can kick this crap quick.

We're having my brother and his girlfriend over for dinner and board games tonight. Girlfriend is vegan and gluten-free. I'm trying to think of a snack I could pick up for after dinner that would fit but I get so lost on gluten free stuff. Bagged, unbuttered popcorn maybe?

I have hardly had any pop in years- maybe an occasional one at a restaurant or something but averaging less than once a month- but up until I graduated college, I used to drink multiple a day. I needed a little caffeine to get through this day so I just cracked a diet Dr. Pepper. IT IS SO GOOD. I totally forgot how good this stuff is. I hope I don't get hooked again...
