One of my good friends is in labor she is only 33 weeks. They are estimating that baby girl is about 5lbs. Praying everything goes well. On a side note it's a good day to be born because it's my birthday

This makes me nervous. I finally got my insurance to approve the mirena, waiting to get an appt for insertion. 😳
Did you have a csection? If your cervix has never been dilated before, it's more painful (according to my ob). I had paraguard put in a few years ago, and that was no big deal. Not sure why it hurt so bad this time. Fx it's less painful for you. I think I'm the exception rather than the rule.
Two c sections, dilated to 5 with first but that's it. I waffled on getting it, but after lots of talking with ob, I decided to give it a go. Never had an iud before.

I bought some stuff at the consignment store for DS1 and while packing up his small clothes, discovered a box of hand me downs that I had put away because they were too big at the time. So now dude has two dozen sweaters, 20 pairs of pants, and a million t-shirts. Oops.
Not sure whether to set aside some for L, sell some, or put together a bag for my friend (her boy is like 3 weeks old so it will be years before she needs 4T stuff!).
We went to urgent care for DD1 tonight. She spiked a 105 degree fever. She has a raging ear infection but the pharmacy was closed by the time we got out so we can't start antibiotics until tomorrow. We have to alternate Tylenol and Motrin tonight and someone has to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't have a febrile seizure.

ellebelle oh no! FX you have an uneventful night and DD1 doesn't spike a high fever. We are on fever watch over here too. Ds1 puked before bed, and that usually means he's got a fever. When he gets fevers they get really high. A 104 fever isn't uncommon for him when he's sick. I hate it!
I just took a pain pill because my my cervix still hurts like a bitch from getting my iud put in yesterday. I started feeling really warm and slightly loopy. Now I'm just tired. But the good news is, my cervix doesn't feel as much like someone jabbed a steak knife into it anymore.

I had the Mirena 3 different times, twice right after birth. I loved it. Almost no periods, no pills, etc. I was slightly crampy right after, but not as bad as bad period days. If my tubes weren't blocked I'd get it again. Might eventually anyway for the period relief.

I'm sure you'll be just fine! I will say that I loved my paraguard (heavy periods and all). I got Skyla this time, and I'm so excited that I don't have to worry about getting pregnant for the next 3 years. I wish iud's were approved for childless women when I was in college--I would've loved another option besides bcp.

The only reason I was able to get my insurance to cover it was because of heavy periods. My plan allows no birth control at all, the only exception is for medical necessity which my doctor signed off on. After ds was born my periods were super heavy and never returned to normal. I'm hopeful the mirena will help with that

I got the Skyla IUD inserted about 2 weeks ago and I didn't even feel the insertion. I had some mild cramping that evening but that was it as far as pain. I am more annoyed that I am still spotting 2 weeks after the insertion.
H took L to a baseball game today and they will be gone all day. I have to freeze some leftovers and do some laundry. I plan to enjoy today because starting tomorrow I will be solo parenting L and S for the next week during L's fall break.

DS has 2 weeks off, bleh!
A week or two for fall break? Ugh! I feel like schools are completely out of touch with the reality of most families having 2 working parents.

I often complain that L's school takes an outrageous amount of time off for breaks, half days, and full days off. I can understand a few days off a year for the teachers but L's school has a half day at least once a month.
So, either me or H has to take off work to watch him or we get to pay nearly $200 to keep him in the YMCA after school care (which is all day) for those weeks off.

Submerge her in water! I did this by accident with DS1's.
