A week or two for fall break? Ugh! I feel like schools are completely out of touch with the reality of most families having 2 working parents.
Thankfully I have my sister watching the twins so it's not horrible but yes, they have a balanced school year. 2 weeks off at fall break, Christmas, and spring break each. Then summer is only 8 weeks or something
Another long day here. We had to drive to the far side of Ottawa for SS1s hockey game. (Almost 3 hours) now driving back home but have to stop at Hockey Life, Coles, and Cabelas. So we probably won't be home until at least 8:30

This right here is why my children won't be in any traveling sports. DH and I have had the talk so we're a unified front. I don't judge you; I commend you. I don't have it in me. I'd rather pull off my fingernails. DD is totally a ham, so I think I'll be watching many school plays in my future instead.
Mal will not let me put him down today. At all. It would be OK if I wasn't in the middle if costume making which uses a hot iron, hot glue gun, etc. I've been wearing him all day and crafting and my back hurts. I've put him down three times when he was dead asleep and each time he was up screaming within seconds. I just want to cut out my crown template!!! Wah!!!
DD1 is doing better. Still has a bit of a fever but hoping the amoxicillin is kicking in soon. DD2 is taking an unprecedented nap so I'm hoping she's not getting sick too.
cabbagecabbage pictures of the costume when you're done?
I agree. It sucks. I skied competitively as a kid and although it was longer days and farther it was only twice a week and my dad just skied all day.
I don't mind watching him play, but we easily put in 12hrs/week driving, our home games are still at least a 45min drive for us, and practices are incredibly boring if I forget my book.
But he loves it so we do it lol hopefully he can get a small scholarship out of it in the end? Lol
We bought a couple new book series I'm excited to get into but want to finish outlander first. DH spent way too much money on a new pair of hockey gloves and a bag so i splurged and got dessert at dinner because spending more money makes spending money more ok lol

Gah, it's 10:30 and L is still not asleep. He's a crappy napper too, 15-20 mins here or there. I had him in his crib all tucked in for the night and saw him chewing his fists on the monitor. Then he started screaming, so now I'm feeding him again.
I just want an hour of kid free time! Go to sleep!

This day was actually super productive. My house is like 90% spotless & I've only got 1-2 loads of laundry left. I've got a few errands to run this week, and I'll finish the rest of cleaning tomorrow. That means I can spend the last week of my maternity leave doing nothing but lounging, sleeping & baby snuggling. YAAAASSS!!
