Dumb question that doesn't warrant it's own thread: when do you/did you give your kids a blanket to sleep with? Right now DD sleeps on her crib sheet but has nothing else in the crib. We would like to give her a blanket or a lovey but I am nervous. LMK please
Roughly 12 month for blankets, 18 months for a toddler pillow. She gets a small lovey in with her now - it's basically a handkerchief sized muslin blanket.

I gave mine a blanket his first night in the crib which was about 1 month ago, so when he was about 8 months old.
I give him the big bamboo swaddling blankets. They are light and breathable. I know it's a risk, but he needs something. As soon as I lay him down (on his belly every night) he reaches back and starts grasping for it. He moves all over his crib and it usually ends up twined around his legs and he seems content that way.
ETA I use the Tula bamboo blankets that are 47" x 47".
I think he might actually have a cold now as well. He's up coughing a lot in the night. I have to change his crib sheet everyday because there is just SO MUCH SNOT. He is so darn proud of himself lately when he figures out how to get to something that he wants. He isn't crawling, but he wiggles, scoots, and turns himself every which way to get to where he wants to be.
I am probably a bad parent. L has had a light very breathable blanket on and off since around 6mos. She also now has an assortment of pacis and one lovie in there with her. I don't think they help though so might remove.

Not a bad parent, kcrkcs. I probably have the most in the crib at this point. She does have the small muslin lovey's and some stuffed animals around the edge of her crib. Sometimes she grabs one and cuddles it. But she honestly doesn't spend much time in her crib these days. We are still struggling with sleep. I thought after 6 months or so though we are out of the danger zone?
We are bad parents. We have used a blanket almost every night with both girls. I've always made sure the blanket is under her arms so it's harder for her to pull it up. Plus I don't sleep well and can hear , even over the monitor, when she's moving around. It's not a huge blanket and if she started covering her face with it I'd take it away. I did take it away for a month or so when she started moving around more. I did find some sleep sacks in my 9 month clothing box so I might try those. I will say that it is a very rare occasion that she rolls over in her sleep though.

M's always had a blanket. When she was swaddled she couldn't get it over her head so I didn't worry, and by the time we broke the swaddle, she could move it herself.
ETA: we did the same with S. He hated being swaddled, and I was worried he'd get cold. We had a sleep sack for him that he also hated. I'm not going to bother with a sleep sack for M

I love our sleep sacks. Just as an added bonus: Since the kids can't stretch their legs apart in them, it also keeps them from climbing out of the crib longer (until they figure out how to unzip the sleep sack - and then you can still buy some time with a few other tricks) However, for naps I put on a blanket I knitted myself. It has holes in it, so I'm not particularly worried about it. It winds up underneath her 95% of the time anyway because she flips around all the time.
We give him a lovey sized muslin blanket now. Occasionally he'll grab at it but mostly he just rolls on top of it. He also wears a sleep sack at night to keep him warm, but it doesn't restrict his movements.
So we're shopping for a new car and we're looking at mid-sized sedans (specifically, a Camry hybrid), but I want to make sure there's enough leg room. I intend to put a convertible car set in it, but I don't have one yet - in terms of estimating space, is a rear facing convertible car seat about the same size as my bucket seat? Or should I budget for more room? FWIW, I have a britax b-safe bucket seat and I'm looking at a britax boulevard. For those of you that have a britax, is it worth it to get click tight? Or is it unnecessary? Our new car will have latch so I'm not sure that I'll be doing a seat belt install too often (although our current car does not have latch).

Ime convertibles take up more room. We had luck putting the rfing seat in the middle (pita now with two on the outside seats), but it fits better between the two front seats. My passengers are always scrunched.

We had the Britax b-safe as well, and now have the Britax marathon for dd1. The rear facing seat takes up several inches more room than the bucket seat did. We had to move it over to the passenger side once we switched her.
I haven't tried the click tight, but I think that's for latch install, too, isn't it? I find the regular marathon is very simple to get in as it is, though. I sit in it to get a tight fit, and then pull the latch anchor straps while I'm in there. I believe the click tight lets you avoid the whole having to sit in it thing?

Click Tight is only for belt install. You can only use LATCH up to a certain weight on your kiddo so if you plan to use your convertible to their maximum weight, you will very likely need to switch to a belt install at some point. Read this here: thecarseatlady.com/latch2014/
Basically - figure out how much your carseat weighs and subtract that from the max RF or FF limit with LATCH (listed on the link above) and that will tell you at what weight your son will be when you have to switch from LATCH to the belt.
I do have the Click Tight on DS's high back booster and for the booster, it was a life saver. It was impossible to get the seatbelt tight on the non-CT version so I exchanged it. For DD, I bought her the non-CT Boulevard because I'm pretty decent at getting those in super tight using LATCH so I didn't want to spend the extra money on CT. If you plan on another baby in a few years, you can move your son to a high back booster and use the convertible for the new baby and not worry about the LATCH weight limits for awhile longer.
We had game night for the first time in months. We started a new campaign with H's friend, who is also the only reliable person we've ever played with. The solution to not having enough players (ideal is 4 plus GM) is that friend and I are each running 2 characters. Hopefully it lasts through the game this time.

I started 30 Day Shred again yesterday (I did it years ago), and I'm definitely feeling it today. I realized yesterday afternoon that my jeans are fitting a bit better, so even though I'm not seeing any movement on the scale, I guess I am noticing a difference in my pants, and that is my main concern. I mean, I want to lose weight, too, but more important to me is that I fit in my clothes.
Otherwise I'm working on another translation project and there was a file mixed in with the others that I overlooked... it's on electron microscopy. I have no clue about electron microscopy, so I'm having to do a lot of research on it to get the translation right. At least it's just something informative telling potential clients what methods are available at this lab, so it's not *too* technical, I just have to figure out the names of the methods in English.

crimsonandclover - I was just thinking how it's an odd coincidence that we both have dd1s who are very petite and in EI, plus Dd2s who have been pukey refluxers. Please let me know if dd3 develops any strange quirks so I can be prepared if we have a third.
We had dd1's 30 month well check a few days ago, and I'm feeling worried sick and anxious about her growth. She is growing, but dropping in her height percentiles. The pediatrician said she will order a bone age study when she turns three. I know there's nothing I can do, and worrying isn't going to help anything, but I am having a hard time getting my brain to stop thinking about it.
dizzycooks, NellieOleson, scorpioscuba, thanks for the input. I had forgotten about the weight limit I'm thinking maybe I'll go with the clicktight - it seems like center might be the best place for the carseat in a sedan (and I think that's the safest anyway?) and so we may have to use the seat belt installation.
Sorry for the worry about DD1 NellieOleson. It's tough when there's nothing you can do and no way to get information for quite some time - I know that would eat at me too.

I'm so sorry NellieOleson! Is there a reason your ped wants to wait until 3? I guess if there IS something to be concerned about I'd wouldn't want to wait longer than necessary. Hugs!

I guess the thing with growth is that there are a lot of variations of normal, and a lot of growth is done during puberty, so it's difficult to tell right now if it is something we should be concerned about, or if she is just naturally a petite person, or if she's a late bloome. If it was caused by some unlikely issue like lack of growth hormone, it is important to be treated, but it's not something that's a huge rush. The first step is the bone growth scan, which is just an X-ray of the left hand, and the pediatrician indicated it is best to wait until she's three to do it. The biggest concern now is that her projected height is 5 feet tall, but according to her midparental height calculation she should be 5'8" +/- 4 inches.
I cried at her doctor appointment because she is just so small, and she has had a cold or some viral illness for a month and I was feeling like I'm somehow failing her or not taking care of her in the way she needs. Logically I know that's not true, but it's hard to not blame yourself as a parent sometimes. The ped was super reassuring and said not to worry. She said she is growing and she is not falling off her growth curve too much even though her percentage keeps dropping.
It's below freezing here today. M has no mittens. I don't know where S's hat and mittens are. This cold weather came on suddenly. September was fairly mild.
Lollipop I use socks as little mittens half the time? Maybe that will work for a bit. NellieOleson that sounds like a terrible appointment. I'm glad your pedi was supportive. I didn't realize you were worried your dd had any issues dither than being small? Fwiw I have a friend with two tiny children and they started growth hormones around 5yo.. Idk the details, but they seem fine and are super adorable active kids.
