He and I stayed up way too late last night. It was almost 1 by the time we got to bed. So of course, our toddler woke up at 2:30 and then again at 3:15.
Bring on the caffeine!
Unfortunately, it's raining a ton here, so no zoo today. I was really looking forward to it! Perhaps tomorrow or Wednesday we'll go.
What does everyone have planned for the holiday today? (Its a holiday in the US too, right?)
The leap has hit us a little too. Enough that I looked at the app since her waking was getting consistent. L has been up around 4-7 for a bottle when she normally doesn't wake up until 8-8:30. She's also crankier at night and will cry a few times randomly.
Only my MIL has off today since she's government. I'm not sure why they still have today as a holiday. I think we will do the zoo Wednesday since today is pretty chilly. We still have a pretty cold wind here. So instead today I'm planning on doing a lot of meal prep since I did nothing over the weekend. H is starting a biggest loser challenge at his work and he's really motivated to make a change in his diet. I have a bunch of healthy recipes tagged in my books to try. I'll share here if I find any real winners.
I need advice on self-feeding. (And good morning, by the way.) This kid will shovel in everything on his plate like a chipmunk. How do I nip that in the bud? Like, I can give him one piece at a time, but holy annoying and it's not really teaching him anything. Anybody have suggestions for slowing down the piggies?

I have to distribute food one (or few) piece(s) at a time because otherwise DD tends to throw what she's not eating off the highchair. So not quuite the samr problem ... but sadly solved by the same action.

We have the same issue, but I'm no help as I've just resorted to giving her one or two pieces at a time. But she only eats with me when we are also having meals, so it's not quite as bothersome as it would be if I were trying to do other things while she ate. I just keep her food on a plate or napkin beside mine and give her a new piece when the others are gone. I'm not really worried about teaching self control just yet.
Happy Monday! And happy thanksgiving Canadians! DH is off work today so I have another day with help. I was totally right last night and as I was getting ready to lay down S woke up. She was calmed by me holding her and didn't need to eat so that's a positive development at least. She did wake up again around 4ish and ate at that time. Someday she will sleep all night again.
Good morning! Or afternoon? Not much going on around here. DD is napping and I'm making my grocery list. I was going to go shopping today but decided I might sneak away from work a bit early tomorrow and go alone before getting the kids from daycare.
It's in the 40's but I think we might try to get outside for a bit today to get some fresh air, maybe right before afternoon nap. Wishful thinking that it'll have some magical napping powers. DS hasn't napped for a couple days so I'd love for a nice long nap from both kids at the same time.

H is the same way. I've seen him continue to shove food in his mouth while actually gagging on what's already in there. I would just keep doing what you're doing. I think that by giving him one piece at a time, you're teaching him to eat one piece at a time. And eventually he'll do it on his own. Hope that makes sense.
So H has been doing something goofy lately and I'm not sure if it's significant or he's just a weirdo. Every once in awhile while he's playing, he'll stop what he's doing and shake his head back and forth really fast like he's saying "no." Then he goes back to playing. He does it more often when he's tired. Anybody else's kid doing this?

X does this when he's spitting up and swallowing it again (ew).

DS was the same way. For awhile I limited how much I put in front of him and eventually gave up on it. He will need to learn his limits. DS never ended up having any choking issues, thankfully. I think there were a few times where he'd start to gag and would have to spit his food out. I pretty much had to just remind and prompt him (granted he won't understand now at this age.). Sometimes I still have to tell him to chew and swallow his food before taking another bite. It probably bothers you more than anything, but he'll figure it out. And maybe if he does it, take away his food for a minute and make him take some out or if you can safely sweep some out, he might learn sooner than later.

Hork. Maybe that's what he's doing, he doesn't really spit up very often though.

We went through a phase of this a few weeks ago. Idk what it was, I think just experimenting with his body. The novelty wore off after a couple weeks.

We spent the day with SO's mother. It was actually a nice visit (she's seriously turned down her crazy since deciding we did a good job with DS, but that's a story for the other board sometime). But ugh the traffic driving home. Completely forgot holiday weekend traffic would suuuuck. Plus side is both kids are getting a nice long car nap Also, I'm starving. And I forgot I'm working tonight until a couple minutes ago. Ugh.
Married 10/10/10! TTC Baby #1 since April 2014 BFP Oct 16 - EP terminated Nov 6 2014 Off the Bench January 2015! BFP #2 June 1 2015 - EDD Feb 12 2016! Baby Boy born 15th February 2016!
And there we go, two weeks after weaning, I just spent ten minutes in the shower unclogging my left bitchboob.
A ten minute shower sounds nice though
LOL DH was off today and I left him to babysit while I enjoyed a shower. I wasn't even dressed yet when he comes in the bedroom (attached to bathroom) with child. He does this all the time! I shooed him away and yelled at him to stop bothering me during ME time.
Ds had a fever today. Both times I tried to give him Tylenol, he projectile vomited all over me. He better not be getting sick. I think I'll actually breakdown. We've been dealing with sickness in this household for a whole month now. Plus 1 day.

Hey ladies just got home from doing thanksgiving in my hometown (read 8h turned into 12h because baby away) this mama is exhausted. Dh goes to work tonight but didn't get much sleep. I am just pumping and hopefully headed to bed too. Looking forward to an uneventful week.
I made the easiest supper tonight, and H loved the cauliflower rice. I'm a little surprised how much of it she ate. We went to the park for a little bit before supper and that was fun. Now H is fighting bedtime like it's her job.

My friend just had her first baby today and she was born with Cri du Chat (very debilitating genetic disorder). They've known about complications since 20 something weeks and have been really positive and prepared. I still just feel so bad for her.
Congrats to your friend britterrss. I haven't heard of that disorder before. Will the baby require surgeries?
Possibly. She already has kidney, heart, and brain issues. The syndrome causes a myriad of health problems. It also causes (sometimes severe) cognitive delays. They won't know the extent of it until she gets older.
