I'm doing a twinkle twinkle little star theme. I plan on having sparkly gold and pink stars and fancy brunch food. Our family will come, same as all parties. It'll be about 20-25 people total. I don't know how to insert Pinterest pics...I'll work on that!
I am such a Scrooge I wasn't even thinking we would do a party. I have already had people ask though so I will probably give in. I guess it's special because it's the first one.... just seems like that would be something we would just celebrate the 3 of us. Maybe that's my antisocial side coming out though.
dizzycooks - that looks amazing!! You are a party animal! I have no flipping clue what we'll do for her first birthday, but it will likely be just the immediate family - the four of us. My siblings, their spouses, their offspring and my parents are about 30 - 35 people. And they don't fit in my house - and it's a January birthday :/ I don't know ... we shall see!
We will be Dr. doing Seuss. I haven't put much more thought into it than that.
Food will be simple. I'm going to order pasta (alfredo and Mostaccioli), salad, and breadsticks from a local place. Also of course, cake.
We are renting a hall, but that's because our house is just too small and with it being the holidays I can't ask my parents if we can do it at their place. I don't plan to invite too many people. I think it will mainly be grandparents, our siblings and their families, and maybe a few aunts/uncles/cousins that come to everything.

This Little Blue Truck theme though is also speaking to me. We've only read one of the books, the Halloween one and he likes it, so I can't say for sure if he likes Little Blue Truck.
I'll need to get more books (Oh darn ) and see what he thinks.
Man you guys are making me feel guilty that I am not onto this birthday thing. Maybe I need to reconsider. Don't want to scar my kid for life! #amateurmomming

Don't feel guilty! I'm not into it either. My party theme will be "birthday."
I think Pinterest and social media is kind of the devil in this way. It really sets up crazy expectations for what a kid's party should be.
I mean I think it's cool all the awesome ideas. I literally just never thought about it.
I wasn't thinking about it until my sister started bugging me a few weeks ago. For reference, she rented a tent and had around 150 people at my niece's first birthday.

silverspoon, we went to a Dr. Seuss themed 1st birthday party a couple of months ago and it was so fun! They served green eggs (deviled eggs with green food coloring) and ham, and the gift bags had a Dr. Seuss board book in them.
I have no ideas yet, but I'll be following this thread. The thing I like about a first birthday party is that the kids are young enough that it can still be a party for adults.
Is anyone planning to do a cake smash photo shoot? I think I might look into it.

I know we'll be having a party for DS but I'm not sure about a theme yet. I wasn't really considering having a theme but we will see. I was just going to invite my family and friends and DS's godparents out for a nice brunch or dinner. We'll be doing a themed birthday party for DD at our house though. Not sure about that yet either. Whoops, I better get on this...
