I have a cold. Baby has a cold. Hubby has a cold. Someone send soup. I sent baby to daycare for the morning so that I can rest and drink hot tea. I wanted to make lasagna for supper since it takes care of two nights dinners, but I feel like I'm dying and I just want to sleep. I also have to vacuum, badly. Two huskies are funner than fun but holy hell. After 30 seconds of crawling Ryan looks like dust mop.

Sorry you are sick. Order Chinese for dinner (something spicy to clear the sinuses) and make lasagna tomorrow.
Also, order one of those dust mop onesies for Ryan and let him clean while he crawls. He is 8 months, time for him to start contributing to the household anyways.
Today was the first in a few weeks that dd didn't cry at daycare drop off. So yay!
I decided to take DS into work so I could talk to HR about the new system I've been hearing bits and pieces about.
Basically they switched from a few people being in different departments and doing everything in that department to a team set up. So different teams do different tasks all over the store. By the time I go back they might be back to the old way because this is just a trial right now.
Rest of the day will consist of cleaning the living room and possibly planning out my free photo book I have yet to redeem from shutterfly. I have until Jan 31. So I'm wondering if I should make it about DD's 2nd year, or do DS's first year sans his first birthday.

Ryan did ok at daycare but he was having a bit of a Monday too and whining unless she basically cuddled him. Lol. She said Monday's are always a little touchy anyway. I am on my third cup of tea with honey, I'm defrosting some spaghetti sauce (thank god I don't have to make any!) so I should be ok to make the lasagna in parts while Magoo naps. Feeling slightly more human, it's my first real cold since getting pregnant, and I was the person who was always sick. Pregnancy and breastfeeding did wonders for my immune system.

We got our living room mostly babyproofed over the weekend, as well as the basement. We still have to take care of a lot of things in the kitchen and put the gate up to the basement stairs, so he's still limited to his room and the living room for the most part. He really isn't interested in exploring the house yet. He's content to sit and play with whatever is closest to him.
This morning I'm on a baby food kick. I haven't made much in the last 3 weeks so our stash got pretty low. I made applesauce, broccoli, zucchini and peas, and some banana muffins. Later in the week I'll be making more chicken, beef, squash, carrot and potato, strawberry and peaches, and lentil stew. Then we will be stocked for quite a while. Oh, also waiting for my pears to ripen so I can try this pumpkin pear bread recipe (that I'll probably make into muffins for easy freeze and thaw baby snack). The beef and broccoli are both new things this week. Once we have beef down it'll open a lot of doors for foods. I think all we really have left to try are tomato, oranges, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and pork. Oh and ice cream.

tkford216, I have a meat puree question. So a couple weeks ago I tried to make just a meat puree but it didn't really puree well. It was like sediment of meat and water that didn't really mix well and was sorta hard to feed.
I want to try chicken tonight. Is this just how meat is pureed? I read online that suggested pureeing with a fruit or something. Would that help it incorporate better? I was thinking like doing chicken and plum together?

That might help. How are you blending it? When I do it, it becomes like a mushy paste. I either bake the meat first or use ground meat and brown on the stove. Start with just a little bit of water and then add more as needed. You can also use low sodium stock. If it won't blend nice, try adding a thinner fruit or veggie puree. Apple goes well with chicken, sweet potato with just about anything. I've done zucchini with turkey. If you need to add a lot of water to make it blend properly, you can always strain out some of the water before using or storing (use a fine mesh strainer). I hope that helps? Eta, I've never used plum but it could work.
Morning. MIL picked up H an hour ago to take her to story time and since then I got S down for a nap and have been vegging. I kind of wish I had napped instead but that's ok. I needed a break after last night. Nothing planned for the day, maybe we will walk over to the park after nap this afternoon.

Today is a Monday for sure. After 5 hours of DMV nonsense on Friday, I just had to go today for my license plate to register my car. I go and stand in line, and the man says "Oh, we can't process that form at this location. You have to go the one in ___" (which is about 40 minutes away). Load X back into the car, drive the 40 minutes to the other location while X screams and cries the whole time. Get there, get him situated in Ergo to go in, and they are apparently closed on Mondays!? Drove home while he cried the rest of the way.
I just tried putting him down for a nap, since he's had a 30 minute nap all day, and he woke up as soon as I put him down.

Sigh.
Omg I would have been on the phone yelling at someone by this point. State government crap infuriates me.
I found like 12 ticks on my dog after our hike Saturday. I was sure I got them all but yesterday I found two more then today I found four more. I called the vet and got an Rx to kill them. Go figure the tech on the phone told me that the park we went to causes tick problems for lots of people. Now I need to clean everything to try and kill any that are around the house. Ugh. My dogs may be beautiful but that long hair is a killer. And now I constantly feel like something is crawling on me.

Do you use a tick preventative each month? I know it works better for some breeds than others, but that's a lot of ticks! *shudder*

No bc in the five years we've had dogs I have pulled off maybe 3. It just never crossed my mind. We do have them get the Lyme vaccine though. The vet gave us bravecto which is for 3 months of prevention so we will just keep up with that.
Ugh I did something to my back. I can't walk without limping and being in so much pain. I have been putting off starting PT since L came but my back has been so bad... and now this. I guess it's time to see my dr. Also, waiting on news from my mom who is getting a scan after her last 3 months of chemo. I feel like I've been holding my breath all day waiting for her call. And it's almost 430 so I should hear something soon...

DH and I were unable to avoid the stomach virus. It's definitely not cool for both of us to be sick at the same time, so we both have to parent. I haven't been able to hold down anything all day, including water.
rivers and roads, sorry for your bad day. I hate how absolutely inefficient goverment offices are.
---- Ended up making the chicken and plum. It still turned out a bit clumpy and DS seemed to like the taste but not texture. I added some jarred green beans to dilute and that, along with some distraction, was enough to get him to eat it. Maybe I just need more of a base with it?
While I was preparing his dinner, he scooted backwards on his tummy out the kitchen, through the door and into the dining area. He went about 8 or 9 feet. I'm (sorta) glad we're getting some mobility!!
So DD seems to have another? The same? Ear infection. Her left ear is leaking fluid again. They had her on amoxicillin for 10 days initially. Last week when we went to a follow up appointment with our family doc, he put her on a lower dose of amoxicillin for another week because her ears were still red and inflamed. Tomorrow is her last dose of amoxicillin. Whyyyy is her ear leaking again. We seriously can't catch a break this fall.

Sorry last January my DD1 had a double EI from hell. It took 3 rounds of antibiotics (all different) to finally kill it. I hope she doesn't still have one.
I'm tired. DS had such a whiny day. Everything made him upset. I think he was still tired from the weekend, not having a nap on Saturday and much less sleep that night when he stayed at my moms. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt but it's mentally exhausting anyway.
Tomorrow I work, but DS's preschool class is going to a pumpkin patch for a little field trip so I'm going to that as a parent chaperone. I'm excited to see how all the kids and teachers interact with each other. I'm a nerd.
