I'm sorry leahks77, what did you find out at the doctor appt yesterday?
Ugh that I'm in worse shape than I thought. I didn't even realize how limited my movement in my left hip was until she checked me. So they did X-rays, I have orders for PT for a month, and meds. However it was feeling so much better yesterday afternoon that I was so encouraged! And then something happened again. It took me 15 mins to get off the floor it's bad. Better today but I can still barely move my left leg. I'm forcing myself to relax, which is hard when there is so much I want to do! But I can't hurt it again.
I'm glad you've got a plan in place. When do you start PT? Hopefully they give you some exercises to do at home to speed up your healing.
Also, (sorry for taking over the thread today) if I were going to put together a small gift for my aunt, what would you suggest? Particularly for a c-section mama who is very nervous about the breastfeeding journey (two things I know nothing about). TIA!
If you'll be able to hit up a target, Earth mama angel baby makes a nipple butter and a c mama salve (for her scar). Maybe check to see if she has a nursing pillow/boppy of some sort?
I've been super busy at work today, been reading bits and pieces here and there. Currently pumping and then I think I might run home to throw a load of laundry in, then have one more work thing to do before I'm done for the day.

tkford216, EMAB nipple cream for sure! A nice insulated water bottle? I'm a big fan of my Hydroflask. It keeps it cold for a long time so she won't have to get up as much.
Or easy freezable breakfasts! My sister brought mini pancake poppers and oatmeal muffins. Breakfast burritos are great too! Something for those days when you wake up starving, baby needs you all morning, and you have 45 seconds to get yourself breakfast. If you can eat it one handed, even better.
People think about bringing dinners but no one thinks about breakfast. You can order delivery for dinner but not breakfast.
My uncle and his wife just had their baby this morning. (Yes, sounds odd, but remember my dad had me really young, and she's quite a bit younger than my uncle. He's 46, she's 34.. I think. It does seem weird to have a brand new cousin at 28 though, lol. ) Sounds like there were some complications with the cord that required an emergency c-section, but my aunt is doing fine and so is baby girl. They don't want visitors for a couple days of course, but she's there until Monday and they're open for visitors on Saturday. We will be up there for other things this weekend. However, babies are walking germfests, so I probably shouldn't go with my kid, right? What is the protocol on these things?
My DH has twin nieces that are 29days younger than him. One niece married a classmate of mine from high school. It's funny calling him my "nephew".
My dad has a nephew who is 2 years older than him, the weird part of being youngest of 10 kids.
Married 10/10/10! TTC Baby #1 since April 2014 BFP Oct 16 - EP terminated Nov 6 2014 Off the Bench January 2015! BFP #2 June 1 2015 - EDD Feb 12 2016! Baby Boy born 15th February 2016!
I decided to make a breastfeeding/stuck-under-baby basket, with a water bottle, a bunch of different snacks, chapstick, lotion, hand sanitizer, and kleenex. I kept a basket like that near the rocking chair or by my pumping stuff, and it helped me not feel helplessly stuck, so hopefully she likes it too.
I might if baby was just going to stay in a carrier. And with a healthy full term baby, I think there are less concerns if you and baby are healthy. I would be most concerned about baby trying to put everything in the hospital in their mouth. Super ewww.
So I would, but only if I wore baby the whole time, everyone was healthy, and the parents were cool with it.
But if you're wearing your baby then you can't hold the new baby!
That's what back carries are for! Leaves your hands free for baby snuggles as needed!
Not to be a downer here, and certainly not to bring up political things, but all the many stories being published about people's late term abortions are killing me. It's heartbreaking.

This must have been the first thing talked about during the debate last night? I missed that part, probably started it 10 minutes in. I guess I'm naive here and uneducated in what goes on. Abortions happen in the 30+ weeks?

Late term abortions are any that happen after 20 weeks gestation. Usually done because there is an issue with the baby not surviving or having poor quality of life, or because the mom's life is at stake. Trump made it sound like women decide at their due date they don't want to be pregnant anymore and the baby is "ripped from the mom's womb". Basically he has zero clue.

Yes, and because of the comments that went back and forth, there are now tons of women coming out with their stories on how they made that choice after getting horrible news at their 20-week scan, or how they weren't allowed to do anything about it. I read a couple and I couldn't take anymore. I can't imagine.
Ohhh gotcha. Yes, very heartbreaking. I have one fb friend that shared a post about a 32 week abortion but I never opened it to read the story. But this was an anti-abortion type of post.

I wish that more people understood this - I keep seeing stuff on my FB about how oh that's so wrong the baby could survive and all I'm thinking is I'm sure that's the hardest moment of the women's life. No one makes that decision lightly.
Maybe this is an odd time to bring it up, but how's Baby O doing trtlcrzy ? Recovery going okay? Are they facing a really long road of things before he can go home, beyond survey recovery?

From what I can tell he's going to be in the hospital for a while. He's still intubated. On Tuesday they were supposed to fly back here but discovered he had a fever that morning and was vomiting so they cancelled the transport. They took cultures from a few sites and it came back with MSSA. So now he's on antibiotics to get him better. He was fine yesterday but was throwing up again today. They are trying to figure out what is causing that, they are weaning him off of the morphine as well so that might be the cause. I'm hoping they can fly back next week but it all depends on how he's doing. Thanks for asking. My sister has a fb page that she posts updates on and if anyone wants to join it she is fine with that.

I will have to look for the page and join. I hope they can figure it out and the vomiting will stop. Will they keep him in Denver or get him more stable and transfer back to home state? Were her other kids able to get there for a visit?

He's in Denver until his infection is gone, then they will fly him back here. Her big kids went and visited right after they were transferred to Denver.
