I don't know what's going on with Sam. Friday afternoon he started screaming like he was in pain, refused to nurse, and would only calm down if he was chewing on his or my hands. He's been randomly flipping out and doing this ever since. He also went from either sleeping through the night or waking only once, to waking up 3x a night, starting Fri 😐 He's a completely different baby, I feel like we've taken ten steps back when it comes to sleep and his fussiness. It almost seems like he might be teething because along with the chewing/crying in pain, he's been a drooly mess as well. He's just been such an unhappy monster which is causing me a ton of anxiety since I'm back to work tomorrow... anyone elses baby acting like this? Any STMs have any ideas what might be going on?
If I have tried everything and LO still seems in pain I would give Tylenol. It's not common to teeth so early..... but it might be. Wet wash cloth in the freezer and massage baby's gums.
No fever? Rash? Pulling on ears or shaking head?
As for the sleep thing....there's a 4 month sleep regression. And it was horrible with my first. It usually coincides with going back to work because the universe sucks.

I also agree, give Tylenol if he seems like he's in pain. At 15 weeks old there's a developmental leap which might be happening. The four month sleep regression happened with DS1, and lasted about a week. Haven't gotten there yet with L! Maybe a teething you might help with the need to chew?
This was exactly Flint last week. I ended up giving him Tylenol for the pain and some has drops as well at feedings in case it was gas related. After a few days he was better.
Re: sleeping - also +1
FLint used to be down by 8:30 or 9, sleep till 3ish and then again until 6:30ish (he'd eat and then sleep again until 9:30ish) now he's up at least every 1.5hrs.
DH bought the Merlin sleep suit hopefully that will end up helping. We also use white noise. But he's been bed sharing the past few nights so I can function.
Yes, sometimes. He has his happy moments, but he also has moments where he's just shrieking. Not really crying, but so loud all the time if he's not being held.
Sleep has been rough - he's also got his arms out now because he rolls so that's not helping, but it was going ok at first and now he's needed serious consoling the last couple nights.
Nursing has rough - like a rabid wolverine, and my nips hurt. Once today he was definitely hungry, but wouldn't latch and just screamed at me. Finally got him to nurse side lying. He also spit up a ton, on me, 3 times today which is not normal for him.
He also chews on his hands and fingers constantly and sometimes mine, and drools a ton. Sometimes I think maybe teething, but then he'll be fine again.
Wonderweek says we're in a fussy period now.
In any case, it's a phase of some sort and it will pass. I spent a lot of time with dd worrying that whatever she was going through at each turn was a new normal - the worst of it always passed. Hope things get better for you again soon.

I was going to mention the wonderweek too. A few days ago, M was up eating every hour or two all night. He's chomping his hands too, even if he isn't hungry. The past couple days have been better sleep at night but terrible daytime's with shitty naps.

Good luck with getting back to work mcktymck. Lots of good advice was given - I hope things get better soon. With my older son, I would get so upset with new behavior, but I learned that is just how babies are. Unless it's something super alarming, I figure I'll suffer for a few days and then things will go back to normal so I don't worry too much about it (easier said than done I know!).

The week before I went back to work S was super fussy and just wanted to be held all the time. If I put him down he would yell and whine until I picked him back up. I am not sure if it was development related or him reacting to my n Gatineau emotions about going back to work but it only lasted for that week.
I hope your first week back at work goes smoothly!
melody330 he hasn't done anything that you asked, just screams but calms down when he's chewing on something. Could the 4 month regression be starting early? Can that happen? I feel like I'm pulling at straws right now haha
Ray ugh, good luck! We have the Merlin suit and really from day 1 (until Friday that is) Sam slept amazing in it. Hopefully it helps Flint as well! Sam's been drooling a lot the past few weeks but over the past few days it's gotten even worse, he just opens his mouth and it pours out ha. Babies are such messes.
rungirlrun thank you! I was telling my H that of course Sam would go and change everything up days before I start work again. I was feeling so confident with him sleeping so well and being mostly a happy guy, Sam must have decided I needed to be shown who's boss
Thank you sarcaztic10! That would be interesting to know if Sam can sense my emotions, I've been a mess the past week leading up to today.
Thanks everyone else as well for the advice! Being a mom is so hard sometimes. It's tough watching him scream and know that something is hurting him, but not knowing for sure what's causing it.
