Whelp- AAP changed room sharing recs from 6 mos to 1 year. I screwed that up.
Also- what do they suggest babies sleep in? They are against bed sharing but a bassinet won't last a year.... I guess they expect you to use a pnp or move a crib. I dunno. Random thoughts from westie today. 😃

Yeah they're a bit rigid. There is no way I could room share for a year. Couldn't even make it 6 months. He otherwise has a safe sleep environment and he takes a pacifier. Minus the lovey but I don't want to leave it with him all night.

I was wondering the same thing. Only rich people with huge bedrooms need apply apparently. Lol. Who has room for a full sized crib in their bedroom with them?!

Whoever designed our house sacrificed a master bath in exchange for a bigger bedroom so we technically do. But it means our adjoining bathroom also adjoins the living room. It's a little bit of a bummer but I guess it's one less bathroom to clean. 😂
Ridley is SO sleepy! I couldn't get her to sleep for forever this morning and now she took a two hour nap! She's been trying to wake up for a few minutes now but keeps laying hey head back down. It's adorable.
DS is 5 months and has had carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, and avocado. Mostly purees, but the avocado was whole (and he hated it, even after I made a puree of it).

And she's still asleep. Going on three hours now. I'm starting to get really anxious that something is wrong. I know it's unfounded and everything is probably fine, she's just tired, but damn the anxiety. She usually only sleeps like this when something is wrong. Ugh. I hope she's not getting sick again.

We are going to start solids this week. He is 5 months tomorrow. The newer recommendations are going to be 4-6 months instead of the old 6 month rule. We started DS1 at around 5 months as well. I watch the baby not the calendar.
DS (our little Clomid miracle) born Sept. 25, 2012 Baby #2 lost at 8w3d on March 4, 2015 (EDD Oct. 11, 2015) Baby #3 lost at 5w2d on April 16, 2015 (EDD Dec. 15, 2015) Baby #4 lost at 4w1d on May 20, 2015 (EDD Jan. 25, 2016) DS2 (our little rainbow miracle) born May 25, 2016
Also, seems like a year will really make transitioning hard
That was my thought! How do you teach a 1 year old to sleep anywhere but with you if it's all they know? Interesting guidelines but not one that's feasible in our family for sure.

I always have a fear when DS sleeps long (which only has happened like twice because naps are lame) that he's going to get his days and nights mixed up 🙄
We are waiting until 6 months because the doctor says solids won't help weight gain. But at this point he's less than two weeks from 6 months so is out it would hurt either way

3.5 hours and she's finally awake. Ugh. I really hope this doesn't mess with her day/night schedule! I didn't even think about that! I was too worried about her not breathing. Lol.

And in a car seat until they're 27, never eating a grape due to risk of choking, and certainly not wearing shoes with laces for fear of tripping.
Regular doctors also recommend adults never drink soda, get regular exercise, not sit at a desk all day, and getting 6-8 hours sleep, with no screen time before bed.
I'm joking about some of it, but you know where I'm going. There are best practices, and then there's what you can reasonably do.

Need to do some research on BLW
Which is amusing, because I remember my friend's pedi gave her the advice to start solids early to assist with weight gain (back when 6 months was the minimum and it was shocking advice)...

If it's not one thing it's another.
I'm having a hard time adjusting to being in a different room from DS because I can't really see him breathe on the monitor or hear him lol

Yup he says main source of nutrition should be breast milk (or formula) because it's harder for them to digest food so they tend to burn a good chunk of what they'd gain digesting it. Or at least that's how I interpreted his explanation lol
Doctors/research just can't make up their mind about feeding babies.
To be fair, they can't for feeding adults, either. Fat was bad, now it's good. Carbs were fine, now they're the devil. AND OMG SUGAR IS KILLING OUR CHILDREN.
Ryker has been eating solids since 4 months .... he now eats solids twice a day and I give his mum Mum and puffs ... he loves them and does just fine. He also gets a supply cup with water when he's at his high chair.... My experience from working in DC so long is that most do better with food and are ready for it by 6 mo for sure.

Cam slept a LOT today too. No 3 hour nap but longer than his usual at daycare and 4 naps instead of 3. Plus he fell asleep right when we got home and is still asleep an hour later. This is almost his normal bedtime. I really hope he isn't asleep for the night. I didn't even put a fresh diaper on him!
I know! I've been wanting to dabble for ages but I finally convinced MH to let me get just one lolz. Maybe another next week. I found some local fractionated coconut oil (bc of your suggestion ☺️) and it's easier to blend than with the regular coconut oil I use for everything. If I had a million dollars I'd buy tons of stuff, but I'll get there. Right now I'm also reed diffusing which is meh. Adding: tell me your fave things. Like what MUST I try ASAP?
RE: sleeping and food recs. +1 educated decisions for your particular situation are the best decisions. Families are all different and kids are all different. One size fits all is impossible. I do hope bed sharing families will get a little less shade (not from here, just in general) now that they acknowledge the possibility of safe bed sharing.
I breezed through the Randoms but I think we have fed P a lot compared to others lol she likes it though - we aleady do 3 times a day. She has had: pears, apples, bananas ( no go on those), avocado, sweet potato, butternut squash, acorn squash, cauliflower, green beans and peas.
Broccoli and zucchini are on the menu this week.
I just got the family babyfood cook books. Can't wait to make some combos. Roasted pear and banana is first on the list
I'm not sure how to introduce peanut butter. I have no idea how we did it with ds1. I want to do it before 6, so I might just let him lick it off my finger.
