HI MAY 16!!!
I wonder if it’s not too completely and ridiculously late to join you??? I’m going to hope that you’ll have me, so I’ll go on ahead with my intro
***Loss Mentioned Below***
I was a bit of a lurker on the TTCAL and PGAL boards for a while. I think I had originally found you ladies back in February or so but my nervous, irrational pgal brain held me back from ever joining in on anything…. Eventually I faded off from following along. And now looking back I wish I had joined in forever ago - on all the boards.
Well, I started being a creepy lurker here again recently and I feel like I have really missed out on being a part of a fun group. I wish that I could have joined in on the fun and tears thus far along the way. So…. I am FINALLY deciding to throw caution to the wind and introduce myself!!
A bit about me: My name is T, I am thirtysomething SAHM and I live in Michigan with MH, DS and our fur baby - a chocolate fluff ball pup. MH and I just celebrated our fourth anniversary this August. We began our ttc journey back in May of 2014. After two losses we visited an RE and I was eventually diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder. Which, oh-so-happily, meant daily Lovenox injections for me during any/all future pregnancies However, every single one of those needle jabs on my poor belly was absolutely worth it - We finally welcomed our precious rainbow DS on May 18th, 2016
Our journey started out with a couple of hurdles early on. After leaving the hospital DS did not seem to want to poo for days which landed us a visit to a pediatric surgeon to make sure he didn’t have a bowel obstruction. DS promptly had a massive poo at Children’s Hospital….. Ok - crisis averted there! Then DS kept failing all of his hearing screens. He failed twice in the hospital then again around 3 weeks old at the audiologist. We then had to do the three hour diagnostic test to determine what levels DS actually COULD hear….. To say that I was freaking out would be an understatement. I was devastated. I cried for 24 hours imagining that my son would not be able to hear and that all of the time in my womb he had never heard my voice. Thank heavens we were able to get a quick appointment thanks to a cancellation. And then after all that, somehow, he passed the test with a diagnosis of “Normal Hearing.” The most amazing diagnosis ever. We have to schedule a follow up around six months.
We have also had a bit of struggle with weight gain, as I know a few of you have with your LOs as well. DS was 7lbs 13.6 oz at birth and has just recently broke 14 lbs. Our ped has been pretty laid back about it (they’re pro nursing) and has not once suggested that I need to supplement. But the slow weight gain and my milk supply are constantly on my mind! I feel like I produce juuuuuust enough to get by and not a dribble more! I live to nurse this babe in hopes of fattening him up!! I consistently have to remind myself to take it easy, and to trust my body and to go eat some more calories! Haha!
Otherwise, little dude is doing great! He seems to be on track with his milestones. He has gotten to rolling in both directions and is practicing a lot during his floor play! He’s gotten really good and quick at back to belly, but still seems to be trying to get the hang of belly to back. He’s also starting to learn sitting up. I feel like we’ve seen drastic improvements in just the week or two since we started trying it out. He’s always been a pretty decent sleeper. As a newborn I had to set alarms to wake him up to feed him since he was so putzy with the weight gain. We went through what I assume was the four month sleep regression between 3.5 - 4.5 months. But we were also trying to transition out of the swaddle and out of the bassinet into the crib around that time, so there was a lot going on! It was so interesting - DS was NOT ready for the crib at 12 weeks. The attempted transition at that time was horrible! We went back to the bassinet after a week of the worst sleep ever. Then he was better in there again for another couple weeks. And then suddenly that starting getting awful again! I noticed he seemed to be scratching at the sides of the bassinet at night and decided it was time to try the crib again. Apparently at 16 weeks he was READY for the crib and ready to streeeeetch out! At that point he transitioned to the crib and arms-out sleep with no problem! It was a crazy time for us with lots of lousy sleep leading up to that, but I think it’s pretty cool that he just needed his time and when he was ready, he let us know
Anyways - I’ll quit babbling about myself! I hope to try to join in on the journey with you all! Thanks for reading my intro if you made it all the way through
(Also, please bear with me as I learn how to actually post and comment and quote and whatever all else…. I get more and more technologically incompetent as the years go by!)
