Dear Asshole Teenagers, who rang the doorbell as we were getting A to sleep when I put out a sign to NOT ring the doorbell and a bowl of candy on the porch, which then caused my dog to bark like a maniac, throwing off baby's sleep alllll night long, fuuuuuck you.
I'm sofa king tired. I'm supposed to go to the office today but IDK if I have the energy.
How was your Halloween and how are you holding up today?

Ugh madamewaffles that sucks! We had teenagers show up at 9:30, at least I saw them through the window before they could knock. All the coffee to you.
DH took the day off today since yesterday was so rough. I very much appreciate his help and support and am so glad to spend the day with him but a part of me feels a little bit like a failure.
On a brighter note, time to break out the Christmas decorations! Ha ha.
Today will be recovery day. Dd wasn't in bed until after 9, and not asleep until almost 10. DS was asleep by maybe 8:30, and it didn't seem to affect his wake ups, but this morning I thought he'd be up for the day and he passed back out on me after eating.
Every single day now the baby wakes up around 6 and rolls around his crib and talks and squeals. He's not hungry, not upset, just awake and playing. We've been leaving him. Eventually he starts to sound distressed and we go in, give him his paci, and he rolls to his side and goes to sleep. It's not terrible, but I'd rather not have to get up a couple times before he's up for the day. No idea if there's anything I can do about it.
I'm recovering too. Baby went trick or treating with us so her sleep was all messed up and she woke up multiple times. DD1 is having major drama and angst about waiting til after lunch for candy. I'm ready to throw it all away so I don't have to listen to her begging every single day.
We did have fun ToTing, this is our first year in our new neighborhood so we met a bunch of new neighbors and one has a Halloween party in his driveway.

I'm recovering fron my decision to drink 5 beers last night. My neighborhood is very booze friendly and parents trick or treat while openly drinking. I had two beers on an empty stomach and lost all reason. I also had wine the night before for the Cubs game. I feel like I did after a hard weekend in college. Also I feel too old for this. Coffee and water today.
We didn't put a bowl out because we were worried someone would take it all and then turned our light on when we got back early. No one came by. So I have a giant bowl of candy tempting my resolve. The girls were so cranky before we went out but I didn't want to put them down just to wake them up. So they passed out as soon as we started. H got a kick out of telling people they were elaborate costume props and not real babies. The older kids had a blast and weather was perfect.
We stayed in and passed out candy to all 7 trick or treaters that showed up. I even made goodie bags since it's our first year in the condo which usually gets a decent turnout! I was so bummed haha.
In unrelated news, I think I have mastitis. I woke up early yesterday with a knot in my right boob and it was killing me, and no amount of nursing made the pain go away completely. On top of that I felt like I had been hit by a freight train, everything ached, my skin hurt, I was freezing cold, and had a horrible headache. I just kept taking Tylenol and making sure Sam ate mainly from the right side. I definitely feel better today, just have a headache. If it is mastitis, it can go away without antibiotics right? What I read said I shouldn't need medical help unless I start feeling progressively worse, but wanted to see what you all think.

No advice mcktymck but I hope you continue to feel better!
I am pretty tired. We ToT at about 1/3 of the houses in our neighborhood and L got 1/2 a pillowcase full of candy. We have way too much candy now and I can't eat any of the chocolate this year

I've had mastitis three times and I would get the drugs ASAP. You go from feeling "off" to on deaths door very quickly.
Baby has been taking naps in the swing. It's so freeing. He now gets all rigid and pushes off of me and fights when he's sleepy, so I wrap him up, put him in he swing with white noise, and he goes to sleep. Not only that, but I was just coming up from the basement and heard him crying. By the time I got upstairs, he'd gone back to sleep! I can live again!
I'm letting my older one pick a few pieces of candy (and H and I will save some for us as well of course), but the rest is going to the troops for Operation Gratitude. Just an idea if anyone is interested and drop off locations are in your area.
tikoberry99 did you make the blue apron meal? How was it?
I did! Crispy chicken with mashed potatoes and spicy collard greens. It was pretty easy and tasted great! I have Hello Fresh coming next week and Green Chef the week after to compare. Pretty much I'm signing up for all the free trials (then canceling) to get free dinners for a few weeks lol!
Our local transportation is on strike so it took 45 minutes to get DD1 to school today instead of 10. Irene hates the car and screamed the entire time. The rest of the day has been trying to bounce back from it. She's just been off since then. I really hope she stops hating the car seat soon.

Ugh. Sorry. I have a car screamer too and it's so awful sometimes. We're driving 8ish hours for thanksgiving and more for Christmas. Not excited.

Omg M started hating his carseat 2 weeks ago...it's a freaking nightmare so I feel your pain. I think we are going to get a convertible one soon.

Ugh this happens to us too. B hates driving in the car. He won't fall asleep, just screams unless the stars have aligned and he's happy for max of 10 minutes.
I'm thinking about switching him out of the infant seat and into a convertible. I have to try something. He screams so bad that I wind up soaked in sweat by the time I get where I'm going.

Try it. They're just as safe and it helped my angry DD so much once she could see the sky or be up a little more or whatever magic made her stop freaking out. I switched her at 4 months. Mal is so chill that I hope to make it through one Midwestern winter with the bucket but I'll change if he gets pissy.
So we had milestone city today - HK found her feet and started rolling back to front. She totally skipped the whole rolling from front to back. And I am pretty sure we have entered into the 4 month sleep regression. Wish me luck!

I switched her to the convertible last week thinking it would help. Nope. I'm ready to rip my hair out. We never have any food in the house because the thought of driving to the grocery store or anywhere really makes me anxious. This girl can be so sweet and pleasant but wants nothing to do with modern conveniences, i.e. the car or the bottle.

I also have a car screamer. I thought I was the only one!
It is AWFUL. For her, it's because she is so needy that she needs me all the time. She screamed all 45 min to my parents' house the other day and stopped the second I picked her up. On the way home I sat in the back (between 2 car seats, super comfy) and she was happy as a calm. Obviously I can't do that when I'm alone.

A is/was a car screamer too, but he's gotten much, much better the last couple of weeks. We can sit at a stoplight without a meltdown! But! If he falls asleep in the seat and wakes up still in the car, all bets are off, you better be at your destination pronto.
