My cholesterol is high. Not scary high, but not in normal range. Low-fat diet has been ordered.
What are your go-to, low-fat recipes? Please share!
** Please note that I'm looking for non-fancy recipes that do not involve 2 hours of searching the grocery store and a translator. I'm looking for simple and healthy! **
OATMEAL. Do those overnight oatmeal things if you want to save time. Granola & fruit & yogurt. Kashi makes lots of good stuff that's healthy and not full of crap.
Healthy fats like avocado and olive oil are good and help your cholesterol levels. Don't avoid all of the fats.
We eat meatless tacos a lot. Use beans instead of meat and we season them with lots of spicy fun goodness. Plus veggies. And you could add rice, too.
Be prepared, too, so you're not like... THERE'S NOTHING TO EAT and then you just grab a frozen pizza. Shop for actual meals, not just random stuff.
I am just adding to this randomly so sorry if it's slightly odd.
Buy literally every frozen vegetable that exists and just eat them everyday. Green Giant makes a variety of theses boxes of mixed seasoned ones that you can just pop in the microwave and eat. They are less than $2 a piece, usually.

Everything ladymike said. We have to do a low fat diet because of DHs gout. Ground lean turkey is an easy sub for anything with ground beef-especially in tacos and chile you can't even tell the difference.
Meal planning is essential.
I stay stocked up on fresh herbs, spices, vinegars, weird condiments like hoisin sauce. Gives me a lot of options.

I think ground turkey is such a good substitute! I can't tell the difference when I do taco, spaghetti meat etc either. My H says he can and it drives me crazy!
