Yes, that was my immediate thought. But I do say "Koa" rather than "K-O-A" for the campground, which I'm given to understand is the proper way to talk about it.

Not a fan. I mean, if you're Hawaiian and using a name from your culture is important to you, then I would say go for it. But if not, then I just don't like the name.

It's just ok for me.
Anecdote, my Italian grandparents were a navy family and stationed in Hawaii when their youngest son was born. They gave him a Hawaiian middle name as a nod to their time there and to his birthplace- the name was Keone (key-own-ee).
I'm wondering if you have a similar situation, (re your screen name). I don't think they would have used a Hawaiian name had that not been their situation though.
It's really random and only applies to a select group but lots of Army people say "Koa" when we are talking about various COAs (courses of action) during our planning process. Just FYI.
