Disclaimer - We only do disposable at night and have used them a couple times on days where we weren't home all day and didn't feel like bringing a bunch of cloth diapers, but we use Kirkland (Cosco). E rarely pees through them at night, but we've had a few explosive poops (no clue if any diaper would have contained the poop, but these def did not).
We use cloth most of the time, but I'm a big fan of Luvs for a more affordable option. I hated the Up & Up brand when we tried them for older DD--they were really scratchy and irritated her skin (she has super sensitive skin). Maybe they've improved them since then though?

I use Kirkland brand from Costco, when I priced them out per diaper that was the best deal I could find. They've worked great for both boys! I was given a package of Parents Choice from Walmart and they actually worked pretty well (I had low expectations since I didn't like the Parents Choice wipes I bought one time).
I do subscribe and save with the girls. I've tried walmart and target brands and they did the job. Luvs were great for DS but not for DD as they have some sort of leak lining that held the moisture close and broke her out.
I've heard great things about Up & Up but I've had multiple friends complain they changed the "formula" and they lack in as high quality.
I use Pampers but do subscribe and save and/or Target GC deals with coupons stacked. You can also trade reward points for coupons now too.
Pampers changed their rewards program and it's made me irrationally angry lol. The selection of rewards of rewards is not as good as it used to be and now the points expire so it seems impossible to save up for something big. With DD1 I saved them for ~15 months and used them for a Little Tikes toy that was worth about $30. A friend with twins saved for 2 years and got two Plasma cars. Now I've been diapering for 4 months, I can barely get a $3 coupon and I can't save them for something better because they expire in Dec! Grr. I don't even do coupons because I generally buy diapers at Sam's Club when the have instant savings.
Not generic, but we only use the Huggies Little Snugglers that Costco carries. They're pretty inexpensive for a huge box, and we only use disposables at night mainly so one box lasts us awhile. They're so absorbent and great at containing everything, even his explosive poops! We were gifted a big box of Pampers and the first/only day we tried them we had two giant blowouts, we got rid of those diapers the next day haha
