Baby Dy.lan Mich.ael arrived yesterday (screaming) at 1:28 pm via RCS. He weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20" long.
We had to be at the hospital at 11. The nurse brought us into my room to get started on labs, hooking me up to the monitors, signing consents, meet with the anesthesiologist, etc. The first nurse really was not pleasant. This is my 3rd baby at this hospital and they've all been so nice. We heard her mentioning other doctors. DH asked her if my doctor was the one doing it, as he was scheduled to. She said she wasn't sure and I'd have to talk to the other doctor who would be in to talk to me. I was freaking out. I had planned my great escape if my doctor wasn't doing it. I had enough going on yesterday for there to be any last minute changes. Thank goodness two other nurses ended up coming in to help and take over. I asked one of them, who actually took care of DS1 AND DS2 while I was I recovery and then I had her this time too - what are the odds?, and she assured me my doctor was doing and the other doctor was assisting. Whew! They were planning to take me in earlier than 1, but they had an add on for a twin delivery.
We got into the OR and they asked me what type of music I wanted on. I picked Christmas music. First time I've listened to it this season, except when I've heard it out shopping at the stores. The spinal sucked. They did the incision and it was time to get him out REALLY quick. I started feeling some more nausea then and got some more meds. Baby boy wasn't interested in coming out.... just like DS1 and DS2. They had to do a vacuum assist. But out he came, they held him out and he was absolutely perfect. They took him over to be checked out by a NICU doctor really quick and brought him right back to be with me while I had my tubal ligation and sewn up. They placed him next to me and I had to fight back the tears. My last baby and I was so happy he was here. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This is my first time breastfeeding and he took to it like a champ. We're hoping to wean him from the nipple shield. I had to wake him up every 4 hours to try to get him to eat last night. Too bad they were in to see me and so things and I got no sleep. Hoping he continues being such a good, perfect baby!
