This is ours. Nothing fancy. I think it's way too small for the room but DH doesn't want to spend money on a new one for now. I love the hodge podge of ornaments though.
We have a 7ft tree. Its mostly silver ornaments but there is beginning to be a few that don't fit the theme. Growing up we had the tackiest tree ever with multi coloured lights, garland and tinsel plus the hodge podge of our ornaments. I loved it.

IMO that's the way you do a tree with kids around. The more glitz and glitter, the happier they are. When our oldest was three or four, he gave me the saddest puppy dog eyes over our white lights. "But they're supposed to be pretty!"
I have a 6.5 foot colored lights tree in the playroom with a super tacky star on it. I think I am going to let the kids decorate and do whatever to that tree each year. They love the colors and I did too when I was a kid.
Before we put the topper on. The lights can switch back and forth between white and colors. Personally I love the colors and random ornaments we've collected or the kids have made.
White lights and hodgepodge ornaments for the win.
This is DD's room. She's obsessed with her lights and sleeps with them on every night. I have a feeling I'm in for an epic tantrum when they come down in January.
erien22846 your tree is beautiful! How do you keep the kiddos away?!
Our tree looks ridiculous. Only the top half has ornaments and because we have enough ornaments to fill a tree the top half has way too many and the bottom is empty. Toddler problems and open floor plan problems!

Thank you. It's always a lot of work but oh so worth it. I just love how it lights up the room.
And the kids just don't touch it or presents underneath. It's even set up in their toy room (sunroom turned toy room).
