Will I ever stop checking for spotting when I go to the bathroom? Seriously, does this type of anxiety go away?
Sadly, it never went away for me! Around 36 weeks, I stopped stressing about bad spotting and starting looking for my mucous plug so it never got better! Hugs. It sucks!

What sort of classes did you all take? Where? How far along? Did they cost? MH expressed interest in classes!
I took all mine at Woman's Hospital (we live in the same town!). I took breastfeeding, a one day childbirth class, infant cpr, and taking care of a baby. I loved them all but DH got the most out of the taking care of a baby class.

I took the taking care of baby class first and was 5 months pregnant.

teachermomtobe, I looked at my TP after wiping obsessively my whole pregnancy. After a few months it was more curiosity, though. You get some weird discharge!!
jennykat, we took a carseat safety class (free), a breastfeeding/pumping class ($15), and a six week prenatal class ($40). The prenatal class mostly covered late pregnancy and L&D, but there was some newborn care as well. I would recommend all of them.

We took the Bradley classes. It's a 12 week course that I think we started around 22/23 weeks since it was so long. It's not for everyone, but we both really enjoyed it. I looked on the Bradley website and there were several instructors in our area, so we picked the one that was most convenient for us.

teachermomtobe, I still check for spotting and I'm almost 11 months PP.
jennykat, we took an infant CPR class when I was about 7 or 8 months and then did the hospital tour. I left it up to MH as to whether or not we took any others and he felt comfortable with just the one.

I checked my entire pregnancy. I had some spotting after a cervix check at 39 weeks and was still worried. And honestly the anxiety didn't go away once she was born it just changed to anxiety over other things (like checking her a million times in those first few weeks to make sure she was breathing).

Obviously not a grad but I'll tell you what we're taking/considering. We're taking an all day birthing class with a hospital tour, but not until I'm like 34-35 weeks. That one costs $100. Around the same time we're going to do the breastfeeding class but at the birthing center, not our hospital. That one is $45. The one we're still debating on is the newborn care one because I think after those two DH may be classed out. If we do take it it will be either at the hospital or birthing center and is about $40 both places.

I was 35w, we did a birthing class together and I took the BF class solo. There were no guys in the BF class

ttcbabyj, I didn't do perineal massage, just kegels, and I wasn't very good with doing them regularly. I had very minimal tearing that was NBD. +1 to westiemom's comment regarding laboring down. I was left to labor down for nearly an hour before I started to push, and I think that helped. Also, the midwives' practice I was with encouraged positions that don't require you to be on your back to help minimize tearing and open up the pelvis. I pushed and delivered on my side, even with an epidural.
jennykat, I took natural childbirth and breastfeeding classes. I think they were $100 a piece, and each lasted a few hours and were taught at the hospital birth center. DH went to both. Lots of husbands/partners there!
teachermomtobe, I never had any spotting throughout pregnancy, but that didn't stop me from checking for it ALL the time, right up to the end!
DH and I are both 38 TTC since Feb 2013 Diagnoses: PCOS ("lean"/non-IR), borderline hypothyroid, hyperprolactinoma 6 TI/IUI cycles in 2014 (2 Clomid, 4 Femara) - 1 cancelled, 5 BFN IVF #1: March 2015 - 22R/12F. 7 frosties FET #1: May 2015
What type of exercise did you do? At what point in pregnancy did you start/stop? My RE said I can but she doesn't want me jumping around. Even though I've gotten the OK, I'm so scared of doing something wrong. Yesterday I just stretched but my stomach hurt after and I am so nervous now.

I did barre, elliptical, walking, light weights, and lots and lots of squats!

My understanding is that you can continue doing whatever exercises your body is accustomed to and that you should just take it slowly if increasing.

I took:
Childbirth Class- sort of helpful but I could have managed without it. It probably depends on how good the instructor is. My H liked it because they focused on things he could do to support me.
Infant CPR- Definitely take this! I has helped me so much with feeding because I know what to do if she does choke on something.
Breastfeeding- It was okay. Also probably depends on your instructor. It helped me feel less freaked out about the process so that was good.
Newborn care- I liked it but we mostly covered stuff from Happiest Baby on the Block so I could have just read that book or watched the video from that and been fine.
I took all of these in 3rd tri (32-35 weeks or so). The infant CPR might have been nice to take earlier just because of the mobility aspect.

I didn't exercise much but that had a lot more to do with my ovaries than being pregnant. My RE said he was more concerned with ovarian torsion post IVF than with pregnancy related issues. As PPs said, the embryo is very protected in there. I was even rear ended by a truck at the end of third tri and the OB assured me that there is plenty of cushion and all was fine. With exercise I would just do what is comfortable. I did a lot of yoga in late second and third tri and it was great! I took it easy but enjoyed being physically active. I also walked a lot once I got over the worst of the puking and before I got so big that it hurt to be on my feet for too long.
teachermomtobe I wasn't always worried about spotting, but I was always worried about something. PAIF brain, it's tough.
jennykat I took no classes (already certified in infant CPR), but really wish I had taken a breastfeeding class as that was a struggle, and I would definitely recommend infant CPR.
ttcbabyj I didn't but would try anything if I'm lucky enough to have a next time. I had two serious second degree spiral tears that required a LOT of stitches as a result of how fast E came (two pushes with her hand up by her head). I was fit and did all the kegels, it's just how it worked out.
yoshijo28 I ran up until 34 weeks, and did barre3 (with some modifications) until the day I was induced. I was nervous at first but continuing to exercise was really good for me mentally and made labor a lot easier.
jennykat,We took a 1 day child birthing class, 1/2 day natural birthing class, infant basics and breastfeeding. MW really benefited from the infant basics class because she'd never been around small babies. I'm really glad I took the breastfeeding class - it was nice to know that what was happening during the first week was completely normal. The child birthing classes helped me feel prepared and lowered my anxiety about birthing- but I really didn't use any of the information other than knowing that I'd have to have IV fluids before the epi.
ttcbabyj,I didn't do perineal massage or kegels. After laboring down for hours, I still ended up pushing for 2 hours and having 2 tears and lots of stitches. It was uncomfortable, but at 3 months pp, it's a distant memory. I had the earth mama angel baby spray and salve stuff along with padsicles. The spray was awesome for the first few days when there was no way I was going to even attempt to touch anywhere near the stitches. I put the padsicles inside of depends and it was heaven. Reducing the swelling went a long way for helping with pain.
teachermomtobe, I never stopped looking for spotting. I was anxious up until she was in my arms. Then the anxiety just shifted to other stuff about parenthood. I can't count how many times I've just stared at her - totally amazed that she is here.

Did any of you ladies deal with a small sub-chorionic hemorrhage? My ultrasound showed on today about the sac. I'm 6w5ds. The tech said it should be ok because it's small, but I make experience some bleeding.
Me either until it happened! Don't worry, it healed up great! 😃
Mine tore, too! And the weird thing is that it almost like...reset it? For lack of a better term. I could never orgasm without my vibe and now I can have multiple ones super fast just from H playing around down there. SO WEIRD. But I'll take it.
I had a 2nd degree tear and, while it was sore, it really wasn't that bad to recover from. I think the first couple weeks are just rough no matter what. :-\
