Me either until it happened! Don't worry, it healed up great! 😃
Mine tore, too! And the weird thing is that it almost like...reset it? For lack of a better term. I could never orgasm without my vibe and now I can have multiple ones super fast just from H playing around down there. SO WEIRD. But I'll take it.
I had a 2nd degree tear and, while it was sore, it really wasn't that bad to recover from. I think the first couple weeks are just rough no matter what. :-\
This is exactly what happened to me! Way better now. 😃

@wineandcupcakes, thanks! No bleeding yet, will bleeding have to occur for it to go away?
I'm worried about the pelvic rest. I have a very physical job and it's the busiest time of the year where I work 12 hour days. But I'll do it if I have too. I'm supposed to hear from the dr today, so I'll see what he has to say.
No one asked this question but there was an article about it a week or so ago so it's been on my mind. I wish I had been given a head up so here is yours:
During my pregnancy I worried a lot about the pain of childbirth. That is what the classes taught and what everyone talked about. So, what I wasn't prepared for were 'the shakes.' From the point that I got induced to the point that I finally gave in 18 hrs later and got an epidural I shook like I was standing naked in snow. It was my body's reaction. I also was in the bathroom by myself for a long, long time because well ya know pooping but also because i couldnt stand up on my own from all the shaking. I was very unprepared for this so neither my husband not I knew what to do. I felt very alone and unhinged.
I dont share this to scare anyone. I am sharing it so you can be prepared because you know what helped? Walking (although I needed a lot of support at first) and a heated blanket. Duh! But in the moment I was not thinking and frankly, love him, my H was pretty useless. A nurse finally noticed that it was more than normal and wrapped me up like a burrito. Such an easy fix!!!
(This doesn't happen to most people btw so this may apply to only a rare few)
Also, please please please tell your SO what you expect of them during delivery and in the few days after. Say it now again and again. We took all the classes including Bradley and still when it came time my H kept waiting for me to tell him what to do... how the hell would I know?
and then he fell asleep out of reach and with the nurse call button.
And y'all my H is an awesome guy. He just freaked out a bit too and then got really tired. Neither of us had slept the night before. So, run thru scenarios with your SO. You can never be perfectly prepared but I hope this saves you some disappointment with your delivery.
Edited to add that I had a second degree tear and recovery was so, so, so much easier than I was expecting. It was a nusance more than anything.
easilyunamused I had a SCH with a little bleeding at 6 weeks. It healed up nicely. They did up my progesterone (I ended up on oral and vaginal). I put myself on pelvic rest and rested a lot.
I second 4paws on preparing your husband. Mine is amazing and the best dad and most helpful husband like ever but the night after birth, he freaked out a bit and went to sleep on the couch and refused to help me. Looking back, he was so overwhelmed I think he shut me out. The next day he was totally fine. I was patient though frustrated because I was still on pitocin after delivery and had to get up to get the baby out of her bed every time she cried. I was shocked by his reaction so I guess just be prepared for anything!

Thanks 4paws I saw the article but didn't read it- good to know!
I have another one..not particularly important, but did anyone use cream to try to prevent stretch marks? I've looked at a bunch but not sure if they work

This could be genetics but I am almost 38 weeks and no stretch marks. In the mornings post shower I use Basq stretch mark butter and before bed I use Motherlove pregnant belly salve. I received both from friends who swore by them. I've been pretty good about using them daily since 2nd tri and things are looking good so far.
4paws, I also had the shakes during delivery. It happened for me after I got the epidural. It was like I couldn't stop shivering. They put extra blankets on me and that helped.
yoshijo28, I think a lot of it is genetics on whether you get stretch marks. I used Cocoa butter very rarely on my stomach and didn't notice any stretch marks until 37 weeks and those were very mild and on my lower belly.

I used honest company belly balm. I did get stretch marks but the cream kept my skin soooo soft and it never felt stretched or itchy so I appreciate that!

I barely had any stretch marks while I was pregnant, but they were lurking somewhere because here I am 8mos postpartum and my stomach is still a mess. I used mederma for stretch marks and it helped a little but I think it just is what it is.

easilyunamused, I don't know if you're on Crinone but I would caution you against stopping it without dr's approval if you are considering pelvic rest. There is a reason you are on it and your body may not be producing enough progesterone yet to safely come off it.

I'm on suppositories and taking it orally 4 times a day. I was able to get a couple of pio vials from the ultrasound tech just in case. I'm still waiting to hear back from the RE
Any grads have any issues with preterm contractions? I thought they were just Braxton Hicks but after a day and a half and waking up at 4am to 8 an hour we went to OB triage and got some terbutaline which seems to have mainly taken care of it. Currently 24 weeks, cervix closed and fetal fibronectin negative so hoping it was just a one time thing but would love to hear if anyone else had experience with this. Did you end up on Procardia? Did you make it full term? Bring me all the anecdotes!

Paging o2girl because I think I remember her having some early labor signs. Trying to think of who else....

You don't have to bleed for it to go away! If I were you, I would ask for weekly ultrasounds to monitor it. With your physical job, you want to quickly be able to see if it's getting larger.
My RE isn't too concerned unless I start bleeding. Unfortunately I really can not afford weekly ultrasounds right now. I'm already OOP with the 3 I'll have. My next one is on the 29th.

Oh yikes! Well just watch out for bleeding then and take it as easy as is practical for you. Like maybe when you are at home, just try to be a couch potato. But in all honestly it's very likely to be just fine. These really are super common.
Thanks so much! I've been trying to take it easy when I'm not working. Luckily MH has picked up the slack for me. 😊
teachermomtobe, I looked at my TP after wiping obsessively my whole pregnancy. After a few months it was more curiosity, though. You get some weird discharge!!
jennykat, we took a carseat safety class (free), a breastfeeding/pumping class ($15), and a six week prenatal class ($40). The prenatal class mostly covered late pregnancy and L&D, but there was some newborn care as well. I would recommend all of them.
I took the exact same ones as Melly. The lady on the phone who helped me schedule them suggested I be 32 weeks around the last of 6 weeks of the prenatal series. I did this and was glad I did. There was no way in hell I could sit for 2+ hours in an uncomfortable chair for a class pretty much past 34 weeks. But on the plus side there was always snacks. 😊

Yes! Genetics definitely play a factor in stretch marks. My mom didn't get them, grandma didn't, so here comes Waffs strutin' her stuff up until 37 weeks when BOOM. Stretch mark city. Come to find out, my aunties and paternal grandma were plagued with them, lol. Anyway, I'm almost 6 mo. PP and they are still there but fading. Mederma helps!

I used Motherlove Pregnant Belly Oil two or three times a day. My belly itched like crazy if I didn't use it. No stretch marks until 38 weeks, then I got a bunch. They really aren't bad, though.

Did any of you ladies deal with a small sub-chorionic hemorrhage? My ultrasound showed on today about the sac. I'm 6w5ds. The tech said it should be ok because it's small, but I make experience some bleeding.
Of course I spiraled in Google. 🙈
Yup, they found it on my ultrasound but I never bled so I wouldn't have known otherwise. It didn't affect my pregnancy in any way. I know it's so hard not to worry, but most SCH's are not a problem and resolve on their own.

I just used cocoa butter. I did get stretch marks but not until pretty late (and let's be honest, I was ginormous, so it was probably unavoidable). At 4 months postpartum they have started to fade.
Ok so I have kind of a stupid question but it's bugging me so I'll just go for it
every time my dr does a cervix check it hurts like hell. I'm not progressing, so I'm curious if that's why. When my cervix starts effacing and I start dilating, will it get less painful?
I will be induced next Tuesday if she's not here yet, so that makes me worry even more about all of the times they'll be going up there!! Does it get easier? Or am I just being a little wimp and labor will be so painful anyway that I will just need to get over it?

Winnifred I found cervix checks to be really uncomfortable and didn't really feel like they got better. I was induced as well and honestly can't remember how most of the checks felt at the hospital. I can say that most of the induction process is way more uncomfortable. They started me with cer.vidal pills and having pills inserted is not fun. Then I had a balloon catheter used. Sorry! But the good thing is you get a cute baby at the end of it all!

remylove1011 - thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it! Seems like most people don't talk about how painful those things can be, but it sure as hell seems like it would be painful, on top of everything else your body is working on! Fx I can avoid being induced, we'll see...

I was a lot further along than you, but I went to L&D at 35 weeks with pre-term contractions. I was only 1 cm dilated, but my uterus was extremely irritable, and my contractions were one minute apart. They did terbutaline, but it made my heart race too much. They also did several bags of fluid. By the evening, the contractions had slowed down, but my cervix was softening and funneling. They went ahead and did the first steroid shot them for the baby's lungs. They kept me overnight and gave me some meds to help me sleep and relax the uterus. There was no change by the morning and no pattern in contractions, so they let me go home. They gave me visteril to take for my irritable uterus, with the goal of making it one more week until 36 weeks. I ended up making it until my planned RCS at 37w4d. Good luck and just try to take it as easy as possible!

Cervix checks were awful. I was only at most about 1cm dilated and 70% effaced (I think) during the checks at my weekly OB visits and they hurt every time. Even in the hospital as I was progressing more they hurt. But at that point there is a lot of other pain involved so they didn't seem quite as bad.

Thank you, mrsrodgersaz! It does make me feel better to imagine all of the pain kind of blending together, rather than pain amplifying pain - if that makes any sense at all!
Oh man, @buttmonkey, thank you for the tip! Sorry it was all so rough for you, yet I'm also glad to know I'm not alone! I'll definitely try the fists under my back.
I measured 6w1d today and my hcg is 93,000. I'm worried it's too high. And I don't really have any nausea which I know could be from high levels. Does anyone remember their levels at around 6w?

Mine was somewhere over 8000 at 5w2d, but I didn't have it measured again after that (or at least they never told me what it was). So with doubling time it could have easily been that high a week later. I had some mild nausea at the point, but nothing crazy. I never got the really terrible morning sickness despite my initial high betas (my first beta was 828).
