I had the baby right at the end of the month, plus a lot of D14 ladies seemed to go early, so I get to benefit from everyone else's experience but I kinda wrote the growth spurts off originally. Then we hit 3 weeks and, sure enough, clingy, fussy and starving. This was week six and he wasn't starving all the time but he has been super clingy and fussy. The biggest problem though is that he has decided he likes to be awake now from 2-4am. So my success is basically that I've survived this week on extremely minimal sleep and now it is the weekend and my husband can watch him while I nap! Happy Valentine's Day me!!!!
Not LO related but I have the mirena now and won't have to worry about getting preggers until we're both ready in a couple years, yay! No more pills and hopefully light to no periods!!

Jealous. We want to start trying again when I go back to work next year. I can't take anything hormonal other than the mini-pill (which I would NEVER keep up with) and it's not worth getting a copper IUD for a year, so we're stuck with condoms. Womp womp.
That stinks, I'll mail you my unused box that I bought and spent $12 on lol
Eta: did they tell you mirena affects milk supply? They told me it won't...

It's mainly anecdotal, but some women do find that progesterone-only BC methods still affect supply. In hindsight that means that even the mini-pill would be a bad idea for me if I'm concerned about that.
With respect to IUDs themselves, both the Mirena and copper IUDs carry with them an increased risk of perforation (busting through your uterine wall) when breastfeeding. It's extremely rare, but enough of a risk that I wouldn't bother.
So those two things together meant that I didn't have the Mirena on my radar. Paragard was still in the running because it didn't have TWO red flags like that, but I probably won't even do that after we have our second (presuming we are lucky enough to have a second) because of the perforation risk.
My family is one of those 'if it's a rare medical complication, it'll happen to me' families.
Gottcha, sorry for prying! But it got me a little worried, I sure hope it doesn't affect my supply since I'm EPing, but we shall see...

You could always go the diaphragm route! We've been happy with it.

LO has started to sleep in his crib at night. Makes me happy and sad at the same time. We got to sleep in until 8:30 today! I also started using cloth diapers this week and that has been going well. Plan to do some cleaning later. It is -37 today with wind chill, so we are not going anywhere today. Just going to relax with my valentines. Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day!
I showered most days this week (yay!) and made DH an adorable vday gift from the girls-framed collage print of the two of them and their handprints in a card. He loved it! I also successfully did taco Tuesday for us and my sis and bil.

I organized one of my kitchen cupboards today while LO napped. Then when LO woke up, husband changed her (normal) and gave her a bottle (not normal). She took a bottle!!! Hooray!
Success: Getting on GBCB website on the computer and updated my avatar. Now I'm also seeing that y'all have siggys. How do I update mine? I didn't see it under profile...what am I missing?
ETA: Also, it's showing me as a n00b...when does that change?

I successfully took both kids to a doctor's appointment yesterday. It was a post-op check for my DS's tubes. He did so great while the doctor checked his ears and explained to me how the tubes work. LO was a little whiny as it was her naptime and she was easily stimulated by the light and noises. But we survived with no tantrums. I didn't risk lunch out because I was afraid of a baby meltdown, but one of these days I'll be brave enough to try.
Left LO with ILs for the first time for a few hours while we went to celebrate a friend's surprise bday at a local restaurant. It was a success, yay! I was a little sad because everyone else brought their babies and they're all close together in age but it was nice not to have to worry about her there with us. I successfully pumped in the bathroom lol and LO is home napping now. Now time for momma amd daddy to nap!
DH went on a hike this morning with a friend. While he was gone I fed LO, got her dressed, put her down for a nap in the swing, got dressed myself (including fixing my hair and makeup), folded 3 loads of laundry, watched the sheets, put sheets on the crib, did dishes, emptied dishwasher, made DH blueberry muffins dyed pink, ate, fed LO again, finished my thank you cards...DH came home having gone to the store for stuff to make dinner and he is cooking while LO sleeps again and I sit...first accomplished day is WEEKS!

This is a SERIOUSLY impressive day. ::slow clap::
Haha thanks! Never mind that the laundry has been sitting on the floor in the kitchen for 4 days and the dishes were dried on the counter for 3...It felt SOOO good to get stuff done! if I could have 1 productive day/week I would be seriously happy
LO tolerated his Moby long enough for me to vacuum the house. I've been trying off and on for weeks. Let's hope he keeps liking it. I enjoy using both hands to do things.

LO and I slept in until 11 am, it was awesome. My Mom brought us over a giant bag of Ghirardelli chocolate squares for V-day and I only ate 2. FYI the chocolate ones with sea salt and caramel are amazeballs.
Found a beef tenderloin on sale. For $70, we got nine dinners' worth of filet mignon for two (so 18 steaks total). We had some tonight and even though we couldn't get the BBQ out (it's currently behind a wall of snow four feet high sitting against our back door) it was delicious pan-fried. Totally worth the huge up-front expense to have eight more sets of steaks in our freezer.
We had filet for dinner tonight too, also pan fried, with an herb butter. I didn't get a super deal on mine though
nbateman5 - I didn't take it as prying, no worries. And I didn't mean to make you second guess your choices! Honestly, the risks of either thing are VERY low. I probably wouldn't have even thought anything of them if my mom hadn't just gone through cancer treatment and had tons of super rare reactions/complications along the way. That made me think of how I have rare reactions to things too (like my cinnamon allergy and the fact that I'm one of the only people I know who actually had scarlet fever, LMAO) and my little sister is a walking statistic (meningitis twice with no long-term effects, for example). It just seems like tempting fate for someone in my family.
babyrn2009 - True! But isn't there something odd about how long you have to wait after sex to take it out? And it's something you reuse so you have to wash it? I already have upkeep with my nightguard for teeth grinding, my nipple shield, and all the bottles I wash daily, so adding something else to the mix doesn't appeal to me. I like the environmentally friendly aspect of a diaphragm, but if I have to get out of bed at 2 a.m. to wash something else, that kinda sucks (for me). XD
Yes, it has to be inserted with spermicide no more than an hour before and then stay in a minimum of 6 hours after sex (I think it's 6? Guess I should re-read my instructions before we use it, lol...). You don't have to wake up to take it out at a certain time, though. Washing and storing is super easy...worth it for us because we hate condoms, but yes there is a little more forethought and maintenance needed. ;-)

I folded 4 baskets of laundry along with doing like 5 loads. Bought and cooked dinner. Which included salad for me and the bf. Supervised DD1 while she made her pop pop a valentine. Paint was involved.

Made a big breakfast this morning, did the dishes, hung this thing in the kitchen that holds the broom and mop on the wall (instead of just leaning in a corner of the kitchen), took apart and cleaned the waffle iron and oh boy it needed that, organized the desk, made baby wipes, made dinner and made dessert. Oh boy my feet hurt.
I finally came up with a success to share! Today I did my first out in public diaper changes! And the first one was a colossal blowout involving a full outfit change including socks. (For him, not me. ) I managed all this without stressing or feeling embarrassed or anxious which is a BIG deal for me. I also let his minor fussing in public go without feeling anxious about it. Totally a win!

So... I wasn't able to get on pretty much all day yesterday, and even though I worked my Saturday schedule, somehow I kept thinking today was the day we'd get to share our Saturday Successes. I've pretty much been a day late to all of the threads as of late. My b.
But I'd say it was a pretty successful week so I still want to share.
First off, we survived my first week back to work! First two days were abysmal and DH and my ILs kept telling me that LO missed me so much she was making herself sick and wouldn't take a bottle (she had only 1 oz all day the first day and 2 oz the next, and then we reverse cycled at night). But, pumping has made me realize that my supply is actually pretty generous, which I didn't realize before because LO usually drains one side in no time and is sometimes still hungry. Also we tried switching to Dr Browns bottles mid week and all of our problems were solved! Yesterday I got home from work at 1 and LO and I snuggled all day until we went out to dinner with DH. Cheesecake Factory! I had to decline DH's proposition because AF is visiting, but I got a rain check for later in the week! And on top of it all, last night LO and I slept a solid 6 hours and then another 3!
I'm not normally an excessive exclamation point user, but that's just how successful I feel about the week
I am so late, but I don't care. lol Saturday the husbear took me on a date to a cafe here in town. We had steaks. The success: Mina went with us and was cute and quiet or sleeping the whole time. Mind, it was mostly in my arms so she could watch all the people, but it was a good evening. C:
