Grunty baby has now turned into won't-sleep-more-than-20-minutes-at-a-time baby. I'm probably going to have to go back to just holding her all night. Just what I need the night before her christening when there won't be any chance to nap.

There's always Monday? Or, like, next year? Or in 5 years? Yes, that's it, we'll sleep again in 5 years. See you on the other side!
So O's temp spiked to 103.6 this afternoon. I freaked out a bit because if it went any higher or he started to become short of breathe we were going to have to go to the hospital. H was still out of town and outside of the obvious concern for him, I also did not want to take E to an emergency waiting room. I was able to get it down to 100 before bed and I've gone in there 3 times so far tonight to make sure it isn't spiking again. He is not on fire, thank god. Hope this is it and whatever this is passes and avoids the rest of us. H is now home, so I really hope to also get a nap tomorrow.

Lol unless we're still adding more babies to the family in 5 years 😑
Re: your other post, I've got FX that O's fever breaks overnight.
And now little E has a fever. It was 99.6 overnight and now it's 100.1. I can't remember exactly what the pedi said but everything I'm reading says 100.4 head to the hospital. She is otherwise fine (still nursing, still wet and poppy diapers, no crying, doesn't seem to be in pain). I was going to wait it out a bit. What would you all do??
dashook is he coughing himself awake? Ds started doing that in his bassinet so we moved him to the RNP at night and it's so much better. Talked to the dr on Fri said it sounded like mild reflux and if the rnp kept it controlled he was absolutely ok with it, even said it was safer than elevating one end if the bassinet/crib.
hangry I would call the nurse line first. Definitely do not want to have to bring a newborn to the ER. I hope O is feeling better today and this sickness passes quickly.
I'm up with a sleepy baby on my lap. I thought he was hungry but I think he just wanted to snuggle. I have to pee and I'm holding out as long as I can. I know the second I put him down he is going to wake up.
Today's plan are to clean the house and run to Target before the family comes over tonight to celebrate DS1's birthday.

No, she's just super restless and starts grunting and moving around and that turns to crying. She does this regardless of where we put her down (have tried flat in crib, angled in RNP or car seat, etc.). It just seems like all of a sudden she can't sleep peacefully unless we're holding her (and even then she's noisy AF).

hangry We were told 100.4 and up is considered a fever and we'd need to call/bring her in. This is the case until 3 months I believe. I hope they are both feeling ok now and fevers are all gone.

We are spending the morning at home. Usually we see my mom, but she is going to have brunch and see a play with her friends. It's supposed to not be freezing today so we are hoping to get outside...except it's wet right now. This year has been colder and wetter than the last two years so far. I'd rather it be cold than hot, but I'm more of a 60s/low 70s and sunny person.
I need to go to the resale store and get Lillian a handful of long-sleeved shirts. Most of her shirts from last year are way too small. And Lilah needs more socks. Most of hers are too big. Go figure.
Lilah is 1 month old today! Where did the time go? I can't believe it.
L was super fussy last night before bed, but eventually settled and got a decent stretch, but then was fussy again at around 6. Decided to give the good ole Windi a chance. O.M.G!! Girl got so much gas out and has been tooting up a storm since then. Totally passed out at the moment and DS decided to sleep until 8 this morning! Today is a good day!
Holy crap it's 11:30 and I'm struggling already...so tired. I baked D's cake and now I need to put the chicken ring together real quick so that I can shower.
She just finished nursing so I'm hoping she sleeps soundly for the next hour because she's definitely going to wake up and be pissed in an hour when we put her in her christening gown and pack her up to go.
I'm so not up for any of this. Please send me strength and wakeful vibes!
L cluster fed yesterday (thanks danib) and gave us from 1:30-6 to sleep! Then he let us nap from 8-11! I'll take it considering DH leaves tomorrow! We planned to attend church this AM but sleep won!
Is anyone reading anything about this phase? If so what are you reading? I have what expect your first year but am wondering what other moms recommend!
We decided to go to the walk in clinic. Of course E didn't have a fever when we got there. I was also worried that her fontanelles were bulging. But they are normal. She just has a little cold.
And O just has his standard cold with cough. We should continue with his inhalers.

have you read the wonder weeks? It's interesting. Talks a lot about the leaps your baby goes through, the skills they will develop, what they will learn, how they will act during that specific time etc. I have the app on my phone.
I was going to recommend the Wonder Weeks app too. Very helpful IMO

waitwhat, I feel your frustration, my mom does that all the time. DS1 has been on the same nap schedule for over a year and she's still always shocked when I tell her that he naps. And then her and my dad come over during nap time and she's pissed that he's napping and doesn't understand why I won't let her go wake him up. It's beyond annoying.
cheshie6 there is a wonder weeks app as waitwhat mentioned. It was interesting to follow along. My favorite part was the ideas for activities for different stages they were in.
waitwhat would you (or your H) ever say no to visitors? Use an excuse; not a good day, someone is sick, etc?

We are under a winter storm warning today. Woke up to about an inch on the ground and it's supposed to keep going all day with totals around 8-10 inches. I don't think I'm going to be visiting my friends today. The roads are bad and I don't want to risk it with C. I'm just hoping that the roads are cleared up by the morning. Of course the week I go back to work is when we get snow. Yuck!

+1 to Wonder Weeks. I have been wondering why C just stares at my empty wall and seems fascinated by nothing. It makes a lot more sense after I read about the first leap and contrasts. This morning I let him look out the window and he was loving the dark trees against the snow.
waitwhat, can you explain this to DH without the rant? I don't think you're being a brat for wanting a weekend just as a family of 4? I love lounging in pjs covered in spit up!
goldenlove3, that explains why L is always staring at my navy blue and white chevron curtains!
Thanks all for the recommendation, I will download it now!
I feel like a dick because I abandoned the boards again and probably missed a ton of births in the past few weeks. I'm sorry, guys! Congrats to everyone who gave birth the last few weeks of November/early December.
Shit totally hit the fan in my life so I have been distracted. Baby and her parents left after being here for 11 days, which was heartbreaking. I miss them terribly. A few days later we had to put my family dog to sleep. Later that day my grandma had a stroke, so the next 6 days were spent with her and family until we finally said goodbye. This week we had the funeral and everything else is finally hitting me. Hard. I'm trying to process everything all at once and my emotions are all over the place.
It's weird coming back here because I feel like I don't really have a place. I don't have any baby questions, no pictures to AW. My recovery has been fine and honestly, put on the back burner because of everything else. Sometimes I forget that I was even pregnant or delivered a baby. I'm happy I did it and thankful it all turned out well, but it's a strange mix of emotions now.
Anyways, I just came to say that I miss you all and hope you're all doing well.

cheshie6 I second (third?) the wonder weeks. Happiest baby on the block is a great one and I HIGHLY recommend the American academy of pediatric's 'Caring for your Baby and Young Child', it's a thick book, but you can reference just about every single problem from fevers to diarrhea to teething and so on. I used it during nursing school a ton.
I plan on reading Bringing up Bébé (funny le pause was mentioned the other day!), but haven't pulled the trigger on my most recent amazon cart yet.
