Despite my best efforts (shovelling and cleaning off the cars one last time before bed last night), this damn snow is winning the battle this morning. I missed my usual train by minutes so now I'm gonna be a few mins late for work.
Bonus - the extra time before train #2 meant I could get Starbucks!
DD is feeling better, no fever in the last 24 hours and slept till 6 this morning. We are going to try and get to playgroup and run some errands this morning. I'm trying to finish crocheting my Christmas decorations for my moms group gift exchange this week. I still have a ton of baking and Xmas cards to do as well.
We finally got a tree this weekend and DD has woken up the past 2 mornings and requested the lights be turned on. Still working on getting ornaments up but between a sick kid and my concerts this weekend we just haven't had time.
We normally have 7 Christmases in 2-4 days, but this year we don't have as many. This means that on Sunday after church we'll be home for lunch before going to MIL's for Christmas dinner.
I feel like I should make some special since we'll finally have our own Christmas, but it will have to be something light and quick/prep ahead.
Any ideas?
I'm excited to have time to ourselves and do something with just us!

Today I get to meet the child I was assigned to who I will be a Future Possibilities Kid Coach to! Kid Coaches come to the school once a week and are there for the student for both educational and emotional support. These kids have been through a lot and need a friend and also a counselor. I'm very excited! I was assigned to a little boy named Jayden who is a 3rd grader.

linny12 - That will be nice! How about something that goes in a crockpot served with some cold yummy appetizers? That way it can cook while you are at church. I would suggest: Southwest chicken chili Or Christmas pork Or Meatballs to make mini meatball subs.
We had a great weekend! DH and I had date night, Friday! First time since LO was born! I know terrible, but it's hard when you don't live near any family! We used one of the daycare teachers and bonus she lives literally less than half a mile away from us! Curious, what do you pay babysitters, we used one once when we were in NH and she charged $20/hour which seemed to be standard there. Here I asked what she charged she said what ever you can pay, she got here about 6:30 and we got home at 11:45 we paid her $80 this morning at school she tried to give me a $20 back, and thought I mistakenly gave her one too many. We ended up uber'ing home for the first time ever! Then Saturday we had DH's work breakfast with Santa. I finished the kids xmas shopping online and now only have stocking suffers and the daycare teachers left.
DS has a cold. His nose is a faucet and he's been coughing some at night and during naps so he isn't sleeping well. He's still happy and active and doesn't have a fever so I guess there no point in taking him to the ped.
M is sick too Her nose is a faucet and we're back on the inhaler. But honestly she hasn't been sick in a couple of months so I figured it was coming and I'm glad she's sick now and not next Mon when we have to fly.

We are dealing with the exact same thing here. Nose Frida all day. I caught his cold, so that's fun. Hope your DS feels better soon!
Also, MIL sent out her annual reminder that she will only allow gold, green, or brown craft paper wrapping under her tree...
I'm seriously considering wrapping everything in red. She'd just keep those gifts out of the room, but I'd get a little kick out of messing with her.
I'm mean.
Does she pick the same colors each year?
Yes it's always the same theme. I didn't know about it the first Christmas I was dating H and my gifts weren't allowed in the room.
Christmas is just ILs, us, and BIL and his wife, so not something super fancy.
It could be pretty, but about 10 years ago she decided that none of her ornaments were acceptable and she hasnt found any she likes so its a bare tree. She just wants the paper to match her favorite colors. The tree isn't even in the living room where we sit to open, and I think it's rude to hide away gifts based on wrapping paper.
Also how fun for W- brown craft paper!
Birthdays (all birthdays, not just her's) can only be green or brown. It's fun.

Oh. This is not what I was picturing at all. If you are going to have matching paper then you better be hosting a spectacular party with a huge tree on display. I wouldn't have hid your gifts in another room either I just would have put them in the back of the tree (j/k)
