It's the holiday season which means lots of food and drinks. Share some of your tried and true recipes or even ones you haven't tried but look good! And let's not forget drinks because I can't get through ILs party without a buzz.

It's an appetizer recipe I make every year for parties. 4 packages Lil Smokies OR a bag of frozen meatballs, one bottle bbq sauce, 1 jar either black currant jelly (I can never find it) or grape jelly, nice big squirt of ketchup. Mix everything together in a crockpot and let cook on low for a few hours before the party.
I suck at mashing potatoes, so I ran across this recipe a few years ago and have used it ever since: 2-3 lbs potatoes, peeled, cubes, and boiled 8oz sour cream 1 stick butter 1 block cream cheese
Soften butter and bring cream cheese to room temp. Put all ingredients in mixer and whip for several minutes, until smooth (the softer the ingredients are, the more smooth you can get it). Add salt and pepper to taste (and garlic/onion powder, Italian seasoning, whatever seasoning you like). Spoon mixture into casserole dish or 9x11 baking pan. You can top with Panko or bread crumbs if you like a crunchy crust. Bake at 350 for 45 min, or until heated through.
Ooh ooh, also HOT MULLED WINE. I didn't have it the past couple years (obviously) and I missed it, it's so tasty! I'm actually making it this Saturday and can't wait, I'll probably make it for Christmas too because whyyyy not.
3 cups cranberry juice 1 bottle Cabernet or other dry red wine 1/4 cup honey 3 cinnamon sticks The peel of one orange 5 whole cloves 3 star anise
Either place all of the spices into a sachet or I usually just throw them right into the pot, put everything into a pot/pan, bring to a boil and then turn down to low and simmer for 8-10 minutes. And then drink way too much way too quickly because it's SO. GOOD.

1 1/5 quarts cranberry cocktail 1 can orange juice concentrate 2 cups vodka
Mix and freeze. It never freezes solid but will be a slushy. It's the most delicious thing. But be careful. They're strong. Sometimes I add sparkling water when I serve it.
icaughtfire, I have an amazing cookie recipie, it is seriously the best one I have ever found. I will look for it tonight and post a picture, we are making cookies tomorrow!
mcktymck, do they come out sweet? I want to try this but I can't do meat when it tastes sweet, yuck!
I'm so hungry now haha, my lunch just didn't do it for me.
So, because I made my second batch this weekend, I will share here. I have been making this for YEARS and people request it as soon as Thanksgiving is over. Used to call it White Trash but everyone that eats it has now named it Christmas Crack
Recipe can be sized up or down as needed but here are the portions I did this year.
2 bricks of Vanilla Almond Bark (I used the Plymouth Pantry brand that can be found at Walmart) 1 box of Rice Chex 1 box of Corn Chex 1 box of Cheerios 1 bag of Pretzels (your choice of variety - I use the mini twists) 1 bag of Pecan Halves 2 bags of Peanut M&M's (new this year)
Melt one of the bricks of the almond bark in the microwave until completely melted (usually between 2 and 3 minutes). In a large bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients; approximately a 4th of each. Pour in half (eye ball) of the melted almond bark. Mix until all the mixture is lightly coated with almond bark.
On parchment paper, dump out the mixture and spread to a thin layer with a spoon. Repeat the above steps 3 more rounds until all the ingredients have been used.
Let Christmas Crack dry on the parchment paper. Crumble/break up and Enjoy!!
