Where do you live? Is it even legal for him to be FFing at this age? Also if you don't trust them to install are you sure you trust them to buckle him in correctly?

Unfortunately it state hasn't changed the law to 2 yet. Here the recommendation is 2, but the law is 1.
That's part of what I'm struggling with because then again- I wouldn't trust my mom to install, but I trust her to buckle him. I think I'm worried they would rush the install because of the extra time it takes to install and buckle vs just buckle. If that makes sense?
That's a fair point. I honestly don't know what I would do! I'd be so so worried about the possibility of something happening but it sounds like it would be really beneficial so that is super tough.
I think I'd buy another seat, the click tights I know are expensive but easy to install. I just wouldn't feel comfortable ff. I keep seeing a poor mom whose husband, 3 year old and 1 year old were hit by a guy having a seizure. Her 3 year old was ff and is still unconscious and has had surgery . Her 1 year old had bruises only. She actually just recently turned her son. I keep checking her page to see how her little boy is doing. I personally would not be comfortable ff and definitely not with someone else driving. There may be a cheap rf seat that's easy to install, I'm just familiar with the click tights! Tough decision mama
emu0013 I forgot about the clicktights because we have Gracos! I'm definitely going to look into those! I was considering buying a seat for my sisters car anyway.
Target had a sale earlier this week, + if you have a red card you can get 5% off. I was looking at the frontier we have one for DD and I want to swap out her older marathon in dh's car. Lo has the convertible marathon and it so easy. Honestly 2 min to install. I was able to keep dd rf in her Marathon till 4, she was small. If lo stays on same growth curve I'll probably get 3.5-4.
I don't really have any new advice, but I'll echo what pp have said. It's a hard call and maybe with some more information you might be able to come to a better decision.
I also just find it so annoying that states still have laws that say ok to turn ff at age 1. Michigan allows FF at one and I see soooo many parents doing it.
