Wtf i would be pissed if my kid came home with 17 gifts from aunts and uncles.
Well, they usually come home with 5-6, because each family buys every kid something, plus Grandma & Grandpa. Does that make sense? So we have 15 gifts to buy, one for each niece and nephew, from our family.
Either way, annoying AF because clutter. And having to find the time to go out and buy all that.
I guess what makes it even more stressful, is that his family isn't close. We get together Thanksgiving, Christmas, and one summer gathering. So, I'm trying to buy gifts for kids that I barely know.
When I was growing up, my mom always did Santa gifts in wrapping paper different from hers, specifically wrapping paper that had Santas on it. My sister and I never noticed. It wasn't until we wee grown and talking about it and my mom was like, "Yeah Santa's gifts were wrapped with Santa paper." And we were both like, "Oh. 🤔"

Wow britta that's insane! I feel guilty that we have the only kids between us and our siblings so our siblings get each of our kids stuff but I'm like 'they don't need anything!' That gets ignored mostly but I tried adding in stuff they actually need like art/coloring supplies, fleece pullover, sippy cups, etc.

I have almost everything bought but have not wrapped a thing. We don't wrap the big Santa gift for each kid. But my H will have to put the stuff tog. I told him he needs to put the bikes together before Christmas Eve or he'll be up all night between 2 bikes and a train table.
Huh. I fed DS2 around 9 this morning. He ate 4oz or so, sat contently in his swing for about an hour, then started fussing. I rocked him and laid him down around 11. He's still sleeping now, despite that it's been over 4 hours since he ate last. Poor guy. I know he doesn't feel good.
Should I wake him? He's only been eating about half to a little less than half of his normal since last night.
I finally got Hs family last year to set a per household limit for similar reasons. We were buying his sister and her husband and two kids all nice presents while they got myself and H a combined present not even close to what all we got them. So now it's like $50 per family and either split between everyone or just the kids or whatever. Everyone has a different number of people and it makes no sense for a family of 2 to buy for a family of 6. It's really selfish if people don't see it that way.

britta My little guy has been sleeping a lot more as well. And eating a little less. Wondering if he is slowing down growing for awhile? My dad mentioned my sister and I grew like weeds those first month's then suddenly evened out our eatings. I am going to bring it up next week at the pedis. No fever, not overly fussy or anything.
becole I am trying to keep that in mind buying gifts for BIL and his wife. They are never planning on kids. But I try to spend an equal amount on them that they spend on our family.
Thankful both girls are sleeping so I can get some cleaning done Thankful to be able to text dh and mom friends throughout the day Thankful I decided to make half hot chocolate and half coffee. What a treat! I ran out of sweets this week.
I got a filling this am. My big excitement of the week, haha. I enjoyed the quiet drive to and from.
First one to PM me (recognizable from O16) can have my formula coupons. I have 2 Gerber, one is for soothe only, 6 similac, one is for proud advance or pro sensitive only, and 8 for any enfamil. Some are expiring this month so I hope to get them in the mail tomorrow. Let me know if anyone is interested!

Also consider that the family of 6 may not have as much money to spend on Christmas presents for everyone when compared to a family of 2. I know for us, after we buy our kids' presents, we don't have but so much money left in the budget. One income supporting 6 people can be tight around the holidays. We put a lot of thought into what we do buy for our families though.
sanibel21 MH drinks that concoction at work everyday. I tease him and ask if he's had his "Chocolate-Coffee" for the day yet. He's super sad when the unit runs out of hot chocolate.
SO thankful LO slept 9-4, toddler has been extra fidgety due to being cooped up inside and I needed energy to keep up! It was such a hard decision to put her in her crib but I'm glad we did it. I sleep so much sounder.
britta, sanibel21 - I used to work at Dunkin' Donuts when I was a teenager, long before they had all the fancy crap they have now, and we used to call that witch's brew. We even had customers that would come in and order it by that name. Yummy!
DS2 slept 8:30-2:30, then back down easy and up at 5;30 and 7:30. Now DS1 woke me up at 12:30 and 6:30 but one of these days I'll get longer than 3 hours at a time!

Did you do anything different?
No I thought about swaddling but he fell asleep on me and I didn't want to wake him. I've been more intentional about keeping him up for two hours before bed time even if he's fussy. Does anyone else do that and how long?

We just keep her up as long as she wants to stay up. Even if she is cranky I just keep offering her the paci and letting her hang out in her bouncer until I see her eyes start dropping. Then I swaddle and put her in bed. The swaddle usually wakes her up a bit and I may have to bounce a bit or walk around with her until she wants to go down.

That's what we did last night too! And she slept 7 hours straight. It wasn't intentional, we went to a Christmas party from 5:30-7:30 and she stayed awake for it, we got home and she fell asleep while nursing at 8, at 8:30 I changed her diaper, put her in PJz, swaddled and nursed some more and she slept 9-4. Maybe keeping them away in evening is the key. The problem for me is she usually likes to cluster feed but she does it while half awake so I'll have to try other things to keep her awake.
Man that Mirena insertion sucked. Damn tilted ute. It took forever for them to poke around and had to have an ultrasound to guide. At least that's done I suppose.

We used to call it "Chocolate Coffee Water" at my old job because the coffee machine made it very watered down. I miss it now that you are talking about it.
Ugh. "Juan said there were a number of problems and you'll need a whole new system. We can send someone out next week to scope out a fix and we're trying to get a crew to come the week after Christmas because the problems are so extensive."
So I guess that means not a cheap fix? Double ugh.
Is this a different problem than the kitchen leak? I missed it.

Yes. I knew the pump under the house needed servicing, but when the guy was under there to figure out the kitchen problem he mentioned that there was 6 inches of standing water. I was out there just now and there's a whole lot more than there was. Basically the entire crawl space under our house has at least 6 inches of standing water, probably a lot more.
ETA: Basically, I'm crossing my fingers that this is a four figure fix, not a five figure fix.
But it's not caused by the kitchen renovation where they would be responsible? This is like your subpump stopped working?
Did any of your babies lose their appetites the day of their 2 month shots? Is that a thing? Poor DS has only eaten once in the past 9 hours! I hope he's not up all night wanting to eat now...
Mine did. He went long stretches in between feeds and then only ate about half of what he usually did, the evening of and the next day after his shots.
Sorry about the water situation. And so close to Christmas too.
