Kallie has really dry skin, too. We found the aquaphor didn't do quite enough. So I bought this Aveeno cream that's for eczema. We put it on before bed and it works really well.
I use California Baby calming lotion on W after baths/showers and Aquaphor on the really dry spots. In the bath I use a glycerin soap with Lavender essential oils, she was sensitive to even aveeno when really young so I've just stuck with what worked then.
Aquaphore for sure!! My ped actually recommended taking S a long bath. Let him play for a long while, till he gets all wrinkly and pruny, then take him out and apply Aquaphore liberally. Most people think letting them soak in water is what contributes to dryness, but it is actually the soaps we use. Water is hydrating!! So let the water open your baby's pores and then lather her up like a lil butterball!!
We usually do bath time before bed, so we get jammies on right after. By morning time the aquaphore has been absorbed by his skin and rubbed off on his clothes but he is still nice and soft.
The shelf above DS's changing table looks like the lotion aisle at the store. We have aquaphor, aveeno, eucerin eczema cream and a prescription steroid cream. Aveeno for normal use, aquaphor for chapped skin, I like the eucerin for all over when he has a breakout because it's creamier than aquaphor and obviously the steroid of its super bad.

I didn't know there was an aquaphor for chapped skin!
I need that.
We also have a basket that has eleventy types of lotions and creams and the like. So many things. And yet I find I need more!
It's just the regular aquaphor. I just like it for chapped skin. As a bartender my hands get really raw in winter from washing glasses.
Thank you for this post. DD has had really rosy cheeked lately and I couldn't figure out what was going on. They were chapped and the aquafor fixed it right up
CatLady I will say if nothing works then talk to your pedi.
C has some awful eczema on her face and various random spots every once in awhile that OTC stuff wasn't working. We ended up having to get a prescription cream they we use when it's bad and not going away.
Luckily it cleared up with the eucerin and aquafor, but I had planned on at least calling her pedi if it didn't clear up over the weekend to ensure it is indeed eczema and not something else. It looked pretty brutal for a while there, but it got significantly better.
I'm so glad I have you guys! I wasn't sure what I should use.
Not to be a buzz kill, you can look it up for yourself. Mineral oil, and petrolatum which is in a lot of moisturizers(especially aquaphor). It's like having saran wrap on your skin. It doesnt allow your skin to breath. Doesn't let anything in and doesn't let anything out.

I'm actually glad you brought this up. I knew vaseline isn't the best, but I had no idea about aquaphor. I though mineral oil was fine for some reason.

What do you use? Is eucerin bad for skin, too?
Yea, lot of people aren't familiar with or even know about petrolatum/petroleum and mineral oil along with other things put into products.
I am an Arbonne consultant so part of my job is to educate people on things like this. But I personally use our baby line products on the boys which even some adults w bad eczema use on themselves because it works.
I'm not too familiar with what other brands don't have these ingredients in them, but unfortunately Eucerin uses mineral oil so that is not a better option.
