I finished reading the book and started with tops today. I had 275 total of all shirts and tanks. 100 of those were just t-shirts. I didn't even have enough hangers to hang them all, so some had been sitting in piles for months. I ended with 130 tops and the rest were either thrown away or being donated tomorrow.
And tank tops...I didn't even like opening the drawer I stored them in because it was so packed so I didn't wear them all that often. Now I have half the drawer empty and not piled up.
I'm pretty excited about continuing tomorrow. It really did feel good getting rid of stuff and having space for the things I have.
Holy shit that's a lot of tops. I'm impressed with your purge!
Kon Mari-ed the office/craft/kid art room today!! I'm embarrassed to say I finally got rid of most of the tissue paper (like for gift bags) I've saved. I only kept a tiny basket of the stuff that has barely been used. We MOVED a giant tin of tissue paper from one house to another😳
Anyway it's gone now and I got my craft bins down to just a few and threw out a bunch of stuff I'll never use. And organized all my scrapbook paper and organized the kids' work.
I'm only gonna keep one thin box per year of their artwork which still seems like a lot but I already throw a lot away so this is stuff I just don't want to part with.
We have an under-stair storage cupboard (it's really the only storage in our house) but bc of the way the space is short and deep you really can't get to anything except what's right in the front. I have basically realized that things go in there never to return, which means I don't really need them. If I don't care enough to go spelunking to get to the stuff, then I shouldn't have it taking uo valuable space. So I am going to donate or trash about 98% of it.

The folding works for some of my stuff (like underwear) but I can't maintain the rows for things like pjs so I'm trying to just stack them as neat pairs.
I went through my kitchen and got rid of so much stuff yesterday. I don't know why we had a million tupperware things, but I got rid of probably 30!
Also got rid of a million cups, coffee mugs, little things that we never use and organized my drawers and cabinets. It has been a major project I wanted to tackle and it felt amazing.
Next I want to do coat closet and a catch all cabinet we have.
Trolling Beyonce is my fave because she could shit on the floor like that Flavor of Love girl and people would WK her. "That floor should be honored Queen Bey shit on it. I wish she would shit on me." - @arielmermaid

H is all in and obsessed with the folding technique.
I love the folding. Especially for my kids. They know they want one specific set of pajamas and they can just go grab them without trashing the entire drawer
What do you do with expired or no longer needed medication? For example I have a bottle of progesterone in oil that has maybe one dose left and 4 unused packs of birth control? I won't be doing a FET any time soon.
The DEA and local PD's Usually have drop-off days when you can bring that kind of stuff in and they will safely dispose of it

Our police department has a pill toss day a few times a year. Maybe yours does too?

@sterling, my ILs have started doing this. They have saved everything and do not get rid of shit. They try to give us MH's old toys to pass on to DS and I'm like ummmmm no, you can keep it your house, but it is not coming here. Thankfully I'm getting H on the, get rid of it train. When he saw me cleaning out the kitchen yesterday he realized how much shit we don't need that we have just from them giving us something or him not wanting to throw anything out.

whoopster my IL's do the same with MH's old toys. DNW. We have enough crap.
His mom will pull, "I thought DS might enjoy it since it was his daddy's". Um no. It's half broken and we don't need anymore little toys he doesn't even end up playing with.

We originally scheduled a sitter tomorrow to go on a date, but we are so into this Kon Mari business that instead of going out, we are going to tackle SO's paintball crap in the garage! I must take before and after photos. The amount of paintball gear we have is absurd.
If it makes you feel better...my mom told me she still has some of my dad's university books from the 70s. He passed away 12 yrs ago.
I come from a family of pack rats.
My boys are using my and dhs college textbooks in their college classes now. Mostly just advanced math and statistics though so I'm class they have them. Most of their math classes are online programs without textbooks so having the books as reference is helpful. Stuff that doesn't change over time.
That's handy! I wish you hadn't told me though...this is one of the reasons I have trouble parting with things.
