Has anyone done or known someone who has done the sneak peek blood test for a baby's sex? I probably won't do it because I'm cheap but just wondering... I know many of you are doing the genetic screening and learning the baby's sex is a nice bonus there. This is just for the sex.

A girl on my DS's BMB did it. She said they needed a lot more blood than she thought they would. But results were quick and accurate.

Never heard of this, but I wouldn't spend money on it just to find out the sex. I'm only doing the Panorama because it checks for so much, but I will be paying oop for it after the testing company's reduction of the bill.
How much does it run? I never heard of it. If it was very accurate and not super expensive, I'd consider it only cause I'm ridiculously impatient.
This one is $76. Too much for me but I could see many people paying this.
im going to be charged at most $99 for the genetic testing. So at that point I'd rather spend the extra $23 for more info. I understand an extra $100 isn't in everyone's budget, but I don't think I'd spend that just for the sex.

I wouldn't do it just for the sex. That's a lot of money when you can wait for the A/S. I would, however, do the genetic blood testing and definitely find out the sex that way.
Our genetic testing is mostly covered by insurance, and the company that processes the test has a deal with the birthing center so it will likely be almost 100% covered, which is nice.
Nipt isn't covered for me (only covered if you're at increased risk ie AMA, history) so if I do that it's $550 plus tax. I still have money set aside from when we thought we'd need an RE with DS. it's more accurate than FTS and faster than IPS. But that's still a lot of $$. I'll talk with my MW but probably opt for FTS.
ETA I'm more concerned about trisomies, I can wait till the AS for sex.

I thought you were in Ontario? It's covered here. But not for finding out the sex.

The MOHLTC guidelines I saw only covered if you were considered high risk for a trisomy (AMA, screened positive through FTS, previous trisomy pregnancy etc) not generally, but maybe it's changed - I see my MW next week to discuss screenings
We did genetic testing with both of the pregnancies that made it to 10 weeks. I felt/will feel more relaxed when I got the results.
I wouldn't do it just for sex though. You end up knowing only a few weeks earlier than if you waited for the A/S. I could maybe see doing it if the A/S wasn't clear or something. Maybe.
