Today I'm dropping off the gift bags I made for the Moms staying at The Ronald McDonald House I stayed at when HL was in the NICU. I hope they can bring a smile to the Mom's faces during this difficult time. I raised $31 and family sent me $45 I'm checks. I'm short about $30 from what I spent to make them but it is so worth it. I would love to do something similar year round but am not sure how to make it happen.
I'm Im getting my IUD put in today and am a little nervous. I never had one before. Does it do a good job for birth control? We really don't want to get pregnant again. H and I are both done.
Morning! It's a skating rink outside this morning. DS is at daycare today even though its Monday. Santa is coming there today and I didn't want him to miss out. I'm going to attempt to clean my house today. All Christmas presents have been bought, now to wrap them sometime this week.

It's finally warmed up, above freezing! Our family pictures got rescheduled for this afternoon. We should be able to do them outside. Need to run around today and pick up last minute gifts and such.

Good morning!
G slept from 10:30-4:30 and 5:00-7:45. N did not get up until 6:30! It's a good day in the potato house. Today I have to go grocery shopping and pick up a few more things for Christmas. MH is bringing N to school and doing some shopping as well. I'm hoping to maybe get some wrapping done today too.
penguin129 that's so awesome about the gift bags! I also do not have iud experience. Hope you get your decent sleep back htle07. @snuff9861 yay for shopping being done! Wrapping is usually my favorite part. hikingmama222 good luck with photos today!! Glad it warmed up for you! smallpotato woo hoo for all that sleep!! It always autocorrects you to smallpox atomic... DD2 only had one wake up, but I was up multiple times for multiple reasons. We are supposed to go to a Santa thing but DD1s poop issues have flared a little and I'm afraid she's gonna have an epic blowout while there. She doesn't know about the plans, so we may skip. We don't really have any plans this week just yet. I got some wrapping done yesterday, but still have more to do. DD1 was good at "helping" for a little while. Yum chocolate coffee!!
Morning all! I am feeling a bit better today, but still have a lingering fever. Luckily, Motrin is keeping it in check. They said within 48 hours of starting the antibiotics I should be feeling better. Spoke with my boss today and I got my schedule situated when I go back to work. My sister usually watches DS on Fridays prior to me going out on leave, but got a job. It left me sitterless for Fridays. I asked to WFM on Fridays (I only work 4 hours), but got a lot of pushback. Well, we have come to an agreement that I don't have to be in the office on Fridays, I just have to put in 4 hours of work sometime between Thurs night and Sunday night. I'll take that!

My MIL is headed out shortly, then I am taking DS2 to the cardiologist in the afternoon. I'm hoping to make a grocery list in between so I have food for the week/weekend and stuff for Christmas cookies.

penguin129, I am getting a Paraguard put in on Thursday, not looking forward to it. The doc is making me take cytotec the night before and morning of to help dilate for placement, and I hated that stuff during labor. Hope it's not as painful. adouces06, hope you feel better soon, love.
First day back at work full-time. Baby is home with my MIL and DH, who is teleworking today. Seriously missing my chunky little dude. Side note - I love my co-workers. We have no good places to pump in our building (new addition, so much glass everywhere), and the closest official pumping room is in another building. Eff that in this cold. Our preservationist is setting me up a corner in her room because it's private! So sweet, even got me a chair, lamp, and cover behind a pillar so I have some privacy while she works.
iwantbacon - Good luck at the cardiologist. adouces06 - I hope you're feeling better soon. That's great about work agreeing you don't have to be in the office on Fridays. penguin129 - Like the others said, definitely check the string on a regular basis. I know at least two people whose IUDs fell out and one of my friends got pregnant last year after hers shifted out of place and she didn't realize it. She actually gave me her jumperoo this summer because her daughter had outgrown it. macaronmama - I hope the day is going by fast for you. That first day back really sucks. I actually had a tough time adjusting for the first few weeks.
I just did some "last minute" online shopping this morning for DH because I hardly have anything for him and he bought me like 14 things (I asked)... probably because I keep an ongoing wish list on Amazon all year long and he had 2 things on his, and the other things on his "list" were sock and underwear. Really? I was feeling very uninspired this year for gifts. I'm kind of excited about the Drink Caddy golf club I got him, though. It was 50% off on the Brookstone site and I ordered it just in time for Christmas delivery. I just hope it arrives by Friday because I had it shipped to work and we're closed on the weekend... and that hasn't been stopping the delivery companies from leaving our boxes outside the door lately.

Did more Christmas shopping this morning. DH is slammed at work with no time to help with shopping. He sent me to Home Depot to buy his dad a circular saw. Ha! I had no idea what I was looking at. Didn't buy the cheapest, didn't buy the most expensive. It's not like he's building a house with it so I think it'll get the job done.
Then lo and I stopped at Target for more Christmas shopping. Still more shopping to do tomorrow. No matter how much planning I do, I'm always shopping last minute. This year it's because DH didn't give me ideas for his family until this weekend.
Hoping to start sorting through my closet and drawers to get rid of clothes I won't wear anymore. Also need to wash and put away maternity clothes.

Cardiologist was fine for DS2. There is a flap that didn't close after birth like it should have, but they said it occurs on like 15% of people. Luckily he doesn't have to go back to the cardiologist!
iwantbacon I'm glad all checked out well with cards!!
I had a busy day today. My sister moved into her new apt yesterday, so I dropped DS1 off at daycare this morning and then I headed over there to help her get things settled. She has a lot more work to do, but we did put a dent in things. Since DC is closed Friday, I was able to switch days, so I'll take DS again tomorrow and probably go back to help her more. Its nice to get out of the house.
It was sunny here today, but it was so cold! Right now it's 6* with a -6* windchill. Looking forward to the "warm up" this weekend.
This mama is down and out with the stomach bug. Any breastfeeding tips? I can't even think straight
Are you concerned about supply? I had the stomach bug last week and my supply maybe suffered a day but went right back to normal. LO didn't seem to notice. I did feed him at the slightest hint of hunger to make sure he was satisfied and keep up my supply. He didn't end up nursing anymore times than usual. Hydrate as much as possible. We survived on ginger ale and saltines for a full 24 hours.
Ugh. The weakness. It was the worst part. LO felt like he weighed 50 lbs. Thankfully my husband took care of diaper changes while he was home and helped out any other way he could. LO and I spent one full day in the master bedroom napping and chilling in bed. Thank goodness he was in a good mood.
Get yourself some help. You can't do it all while trying to fight the bug. It took 36 hours for my fever to break and start feeling mildly human again.

Thank you, yeah my main concern is supply. It was very difficult to keep any fluids down for awhile, so I was getting worried about supply, but I seem to be improving in that respect. I just left her on longer than normal and offered the first side again after the second side. Thankkfully DH came home and I've been in bed.

DS was full of it tonight... extra smiles and talking and laughing. I thought he was going to be up half the night based on how he was going, but then he faded fast. It was really kind of funny. He went down pretty easily and I hope he sleeps well tonight. He's been kind of congested for a couple of weeks and some nights it's worse than others, but it hasn't been terrible even though I think it does affect his sleep a bit.
DH drew #1 at his Yankee Swap at work today and brought home a bottle of Pinot Noir, which we are drinking as I type.
sanibel21 I have been there both pregnancies and with an infant. Neither was fun. I always find it helpful to not drink or eat for 12 hours and then try to slowly get some fluids. Otherwise you just puke more. Supply will be okay. Malnourished moms still make milk for baby.
My little is awake. Like wants to play amd squeal awake. Why is he so awake? We had four nights of STTN and the last two nights, nothing. Tonight has been the worst night in weeks. He would just not fall asleep to begin with -Went down at 8, up at 9, up again 10:30, now up for over an hour and won't settle... why when I have work??? Ugh. And he gets his vaccines Wednesday which is sure to deter him further from getting back on that lovely 8 hr stretch schedule.

Gonna need all the caffeine when I get to campus.
Ditto what @kitchen said. Of course mine did not sleep 11 hours straight but she did have the best sleep she has had in weeks. She was cranky for a few hours but when she slept really well once she went to bed.
