Good morning! I laid on the couch with HL for a good 1 1/2 hrs because I still feel yucky from the Paragard. After the Midwife removed it yesterday I called the company to report the reaction I had to it and to ask if it contains any nickel. The answer was a resounding "yes". There are "trace amounts" of nickel in it. I told the customer service lady how my ears get irritated if I wear certain types of earrings and I never thought about it before, but I must be allergic to nickel. I also told her my mom has an allergy to nickel. She told me I shouldn't have used the Paragard at all.

My PCP and Midwife yesterday kept telling me the Paragard is only copper and there is no nickel in it at all and I was the first one they've heard of to have a problem with it. Both were very concerned with what Mr. P and I were going to use as birth control and when I told them condoms and tracking my cycles they told me that was called "getting pregnant". My PCP even told me to give it another month to see how I reacted and said my migraines were all stress related and gave me a referral for a neurologist. He asked me if I knew "how much those things cost?" and basically told me I was throwing my money away. He wanted to raise my anxiety meds from 10 mg all the way up to 40 mg, which I refused to do. I agreed to try 20 mg.

I can't believe he advised me to keep the Paragard in another month when I told him I thought I was having an allergic reaction to it. I had to call Mr. P and my parents on the way to the removal appointment to make sure I was doing the right thing because the PCP had me thinking it was all Post Partum Anxiety related. You don't have to search far on the internet to find negative reviews of Paragard and Cooper Toxicity. This is just another thing I want to spread awareness about somehow. I can't believe we didn't research it before I had it put in. We've been through a rough couple of months.

N and I are having some one on one time. We're going to TRU to spend gift cards he got for Christmas. We may go to Kohl's to return some stuff too, depending on his behavior. I managed to pump my injured nipple this morning with no blood, so hopefully it's healing.

penguin129 - Your PCP is an ass!! And so is your midwife!! And do they think that condoms aren't an effective form of BC? What kind of a response is that?! Bullshit! I'm so mad for you!!
And I'm so sick of doctors dismissing things because they've never heard of it before. That is so unacceptable! My SIL was admitted to the hospital yesterday with a rare, but severe reaction to an antibiotic she started taking last week, and the doctor last night told her it couldn't be a reaction to it because he's never seen such a reaction to it... even after she showed him the list of rare, but severe side effects it can cause. Luckily, the new shift doctor this morning does believe it's a med reaction and is properly treating her for it. If I were you, I'd file a complaint against your PCP (and midwife) and find a new one. What an asshole.

Yesterday I bagged up all the boys' NB (and preemie from DS1) clothes to be donated. Such a mixture feelz. On one hand, DS2 screamed a lot of the day yesterday so I felt some relief thinking, "Yes. No more babies." and on the other hand it was kind of sad. No more babies. Such a conundrum. Since I had the totes of clothes out, I went ahead and reorganized them so that the clothes are in chronological order. It'll be much easier to transition between seasons and sizes now.

DS1 is at daycare today and DS2 is currently napping. I just finished lunch and paying our monthly bills. It's sunny and supposed to be warm (for MI in December) today, so I may bundle DS2 and take him for a walk. I also need to vacuum. And start taking down Christmas.

Back at work day 2, and my boss is back today. DS and DD are home with my MIL today, so it is nice to know they are at home with family.

DD is 12.5 weeks, and I can't believe how big she is getting. We are weaning off the breast to formula since I am back to work, but I am still nursing in the evening and nighttime. I go home for lunch, so I have been feeding her then. When she starts in daycare next week, I either need to start pumping at work or wean completely. I'm so torn with what I want to do.

I can't remember if I shared this picture here from Christmas morning or not. If I did, sorry lol!

Ughhh.... they say things happen in 3s.

1) As mentioned above, DH's sister was admitted to the hospital yesterday with a severe reaction to an antibiotic. She has painful, itchy, blistering hives/rash all over her body.
2) My other SIL was walking her dog yesterday and they were attacked by a German Shepherd who bit my SIL in the ankle. The people just moved into the house on their street and the woman denied it was a dog bite because she didn't see it and said my SIL could have fallen or something. Needless to say, my SIL called the police.
3) My mom just told me she's taking my dad to the ER for shortness of breath. He has A-fib, which was under control, but his blood pressure has been through the roof lately (he's in a cancer clinical trial and only has one kidney), so his doctors have been trying to safely treat the blood pressure issue, which is tricky because of his A-fib and because they don't want to damage his only kidney (because he can't have a kidney transplant because of the cancer drug he's on).

So. DS2 is still napping. I've started taking down Christmas. Usually, I dread doing this because I feel like the house looks so bare afterwards. This year, with the chaos of a newborn and toddler, I'm all, "I need normalcy as much as possible." I'm not even sad about it.

britta, I brought my sister all of our newborn clothes last weekend. I had the feels about it too. That picture of DS1 in his PA outfit is adorable. I love that he corrects people who think he is a doctor. So cute. I am going to purge my maternity clothes soon too. It will be nice to have everything out.

DD1 went down for a nap at 10:15, which is unheard of. She was a mess this am which has been her norm, but she was asking to go to bed, so I finally just put her down. She slept almost 2 hours and has woken up less monstrous. Hoping this doesn't bite me in the ass later this afternoon. We do have to run to the store to get her more medicine. I called the psych prescriber to let her know I'd like to start zoloft. I was hoping to get both meds at the same time but I haven't heard back from her yet. I've gone back and forth about it 100 times since calling. If I feel good when my toddlers not an ass, my baby sleeps well, and my house is clean, does that mean I'm still anxious and depressed? Who knows..
Last night I needed the tree to be gone to start organizing the Toysrus that my house has turned into. I just put all the ornaments in a big box in the basement so I could throw the tree outside. It's more organized in here but I think we're gonna need to make an ikea run for some storage stuff.
I'm also in the process of washing and hanging to dry all the clothes DD2 and I got for christmas. I need to take better care of my clothes so they last, don't shrink, and don't pill.
Thank goodness for Monsters Inc today. I'm trying to care less about screen time for DD1 and swing/bouncy seat time for DD2.

I am the same exact way about wanting to put away Christmas stuff this year. I might let the outside stuff up, but I want the house back to normal ASAP. I am already feeling better than this morning and hope to get started soon. I totally get where you are coming from.

Yep. Both the PCP and Midwife are convinced there is no nickel in the Copper IUD. I even got told that by the nurse who scheduled the removal appt for me. They all need to be made aware of it.

Like today, DS1 is at daycare and out of my hair and DS2 is taking a helluva nap, the sun is out, I've been super productive so my house is clean and organized, so I feel like a million bucks. Yesterday? The toddler was alone with just me for the first time in days so he was a whiny shit, the baby fought naps all day, it was cloudy and cold, and I couldn't get anything done around the house, so I felt irritable and anxious.

I'm leaning towards I probably need something as I'm thinking (ok, I know) I have a control problem. When I'm able to control my surroundings (or feel like I have control of them), I feel good. But most days, since there isn't much you can control about a toddler and a newborn, I'm an irritable mess. And it's not as easy as just "letting it go" as so many people try to tell me. Does this make sense? It does in my head. I think meds would help me. At least through this first year maybe.

(copied from your post). I totally get it. I ask myself this from time to time too. For me I think of the times when things don't go as planned or the times I have anxiety. I also keep in mind that if I don't do something about it now it can get worse. I am positive that on top of my unknown hypothyroidism with AG that I had PPD. I never saw anyone about it until she was 1. I told myself I wouldn't put myself through that again. I hope the meds work for you and you can have peace about your decision.

Holy crap... my mom just called me from the hospital and my dad's blood pressure was 190/130!!! They are running tests to try to figure out what is going on. My dad told the doctor that he was having some chest pains 2 days before Christmas, but he never told anyone because he didn't want to ruin Christmas. I just yelled at my mom, "You know what would have ruined Christmas? If he died! That's what would have ruined Christmas!" OMG, why are men like this?? My dad has been through so much in the past couple of years that he should know better than to ignore stuff like that!!

Perhaps the neighbors dog isn't up to date with shots. Or they don't want to be quarantined because it's inconvenient. Either way, they aren't good dog owners and your SIL did the right thing.

britta, I could have written your post. Word. For. Word. And I secretly know it's a lot to do with my desire/demand for control. And I also know that's impossible with a newborn and a toddler.
I can't seem to stop being hung up on the meds while breastfeeding thing. And I don't know if I should switch to formula to make me feel better about meds. But money.. I know, mental health trumps money. But then I'll feel guilty about being dd1 for 16 months and dd2 for 2 months. Blech. Again just Dear Diary-ing.
