I gave DH this list of baby names today and he literally couldn't pick anything from it that he likes. Like got a barely maybe on Vince or Derek. I don't feel like I'm being that unreasonable.
Well, I'm glad you're not in love with anything on this list because 40% of the names are utterly awful, and the remaining 60% are just okay. Kendrick is in the awful pile. Suggestions that are mostly fairly uncommon (at least in the States) but real, good, and not nicknames:
Have him come up with 10 names that he likes. It might help him to just go through a baby name book and write down all the ones he likes and then go from there.
You two might just have very different naming styles and different concerns or desires. What are you looking for in a name and what do you want to avoid? What does he want in a name and what does he want to avoid?
It really seems like Nathaniel is a good compromise. Not super common (it's in the top 100, but just barely), but not obscure or confusing. Three syllables, easily pronounced, good nickname options. And then you can go crazy with the middle name- find one that hits all of your wants.

With that being said, what is the consensus on Isaac ?? I literally just woke up from a dead sleep and thought about it. I looked it up cuz I really like the way it sounds and the meaning is amazing. BUT I'm shocked at the popularity. Is it really that popular?! I racked my brain and I can only think of maybe 1 that I've met.
I like the name Isaac but there are three in my family. All in their mid 20s.
Bradley --173 Brendan -- 388 Brett -- 748 Carter -- 24 Charles -- 50 Connor -- 54 (Conor is 477) Derek -- 210 Jackson -- 17 Kai -- 145 Keegan -- 272 Liam -- 2 (William is 5) Maxwell -- 113 (Maximilian dropped out of the top 1000 in 2009, ranked in 2008 at 992) Rhett -- 274 Riley -- 194 Richard -- 155 Zachary -- 88 Nathaniel -- 97
He has since added Gregory -- 346 Jordan -- 60 Colin -- 172 Cameron -- 56 Elliott -- 213
I'm putting the 2015 rankings by each name because he does have some great names and it sounds like you're defining uncommon as unusual rather than less used. He seems to be OK with names that he's heard of that aren't used as often. And since Derek is on your list and his list that might be your winner.
