Fuck yes Dh is on his last paternity week next week. Thank god!
Ryan has been up since 6 because his internal alarm clock is insane. One day I'll Wake him up 3 times a night then up for the day at 6 with no naps....for 6 months straight, and see how he likes it.
And to top it off tomorrow we are babysitting my nieces overnight. Why did I agree to that? Had I been drinking?

The title of this thread reminded me of a question I wanted to ask everybody. Are your LOs saying any words yet? Or word approximations? Or what sounds are they making?
DD hasn't said any words with meaning yet. (She says both Mama and Dada, but is equally likely to point at me, or DH, or a toy, or her diaper while she says them). I have heard her make B, D, F, M, N, P, S and T sounds.

No. He says dadadadad or mamamama but thats it. He will look at the right dog if we say their names. He started imitating me last night when I was making brrrmmm sounds for a tractor.

Still up 4x a night. This has been going on over a month now. I think I may be reaching a breaking point here and need to implement something to help. He can't only sleep 9 hours a night and nap less than an hour all day. Grumpers McGoobers.

S has been late to babble, probably because of the ear infections. She has said "dadadadada", "mamamamama" and some other gibberish but no words. Doesn't equate words to anyone yet either.

L was up three times last night screaming her bloody head off for no apparent reason. She drank two 4oz bottles within an hour and was still mad as fire. Finally fell asleep for good around 2am. I wonder if more teeth are on the horizon or if it was just a fluke. Either way, baby girl needs to occasionally wake up MOTN on daddy's night and not keep doing this crap on mommy's MOTN duty nights.
They're calling for snow in my area tonight and tomorrow, so people are already losing their minds and cleaning out the grocery stores. Predicting anywhere from 1-10 inches. Lol, good old North Carolina weather. As long as there is a decent bottle of red wine and some sort of breakfast food at the store this evening, I'll be good to hermit away for the weekend.

L makes a wide variety of random sounds, but I don't think we've had any real words yet. She babbles dadadada constantly and occasionally seems to associate that sound with DH, as in, she will babble like that sometimes when he gets home in the evenings and she is excited to see him. Mamamama sounds are more rare, but she may also associate that sound with me to an extent because she tends to do it when she's tired and trying to attach herself to my legs.
She's been doing a good deal of imitating lately and sometimes will repeat back sounds that are very similar to a word we just said. I swear she tried to say carrot once at dinner, haha.

I think we're averaging 3 wake ups but the MOTN yelling and the not napping is driving me crazy. It's just that sleep training sounds even more exhausting but it's looking more and more like it needs to be done.

Another cold cold day here. We might go to Ikea later just to walk around. I want to make a learning tower for X's birthday and there's an IKEA hack for it on Pinterest. Also: ice cream? Meat balls? cinnamon rolls? A ton of stuff I didn't know I needed for our home? Sign me up.

Fx your DS gives you a break soon
Same. I'd have to try a peppering of different methods because I can't do CIO but I also can't keep doing this. There just seems like there's never a "good time" to try it. He's teething, or sick, or we're about to travel, blah blah blah. The no naps are really what's doing me in too, I think. I keep waiting for it to get better (and waiting and waiting).
Hope you get some sleep before you're back to no sleep again!

FFFC: I have never been to IKEA.
But I thought they just had meatballs. If they also have cinnamon rolls, maybe I need to give it a try.
No words here. He says da a lot, and ma is making more and more appearances recently. Also, ya, na, ba. Lately he's just been making random vocalizations while concentrating really hard with his hand in the air, like he's really trying to talk. It's quite funny to watch. He understands a lot of words or short phrases (ducky, take a bath, brush teeth, truck, shake, that kind of stuff), and he knows who mama and daddy and puppy are. But that's as far as communication goes here. He just points at what he wants and whines, lol.
We are in the negatives here, windchill well into the negatives. My furnace can't seem to keep up so I also have space heaters in the living room and baby's room. Brrr. We were going to stop at the grocery story today but I think we will stay home. I'll just text my list to my H and ask him to stop on his way home, lol.

I think we have one. My SLP MIL confirmed it this week - DD says cat, but it comes out like "ga' ". But it's used consistently in context, and having a third party confirm it finally convinced me.
We swear she said something like pizza when we were eating pizza a couple weeks ago. She did it a couple times and hasn't again since, so I'm less sure on that one. DD also says back! when we walk into a room with our dogs. It's hilarious.
I had to go back and look to see when DS had his first word (I don't think we counted mama/dada). It was ball, and he was 16 months.
I love IKEA food. It's delicious and so cheap. Nom nom We have an insane amount of babbling. It's constant, which is super unlike how C was (although now at 3, kid talks CONSTANTLY). She says all her consonants, and I'm fairly sure she says bye. And her teachers insist when she hands you something she says "here!" Girls a chatterbox

Lots of babbling here. She says mamama and dadada but not always necessarily to us. She does say uh oh, and za in reference to the cats. I don't know if she's trying to say cat or Jack there (our male cat is named Jack).
She will also sing "na na na na na" while bobbing her head and dancing, or will dance if we sing it to her.

They have a whole restaurant! I've never eaten when we go though because it's always a 4 hour trip and there are other places I want to eat while in the cities.
Surprise! The drywall people showed up unannounced at around 12. Luckily I saw their truck and was able to get a bra on before they came to the door. Apparently they must use a giant stamp to apply texture to the ceiling because they are banging on the ceiling down there. S woke up from her nap but she'd been down for a while when they started that so no biggie. H is sleeping through it all. I think she's sick though. She was warm last night and this morning, but not quite a fever. Then she barely ate lunch and asked to take a nap. That's never a good sign.

That's annoying. Are they almost finished? I want to see before and after pics!
Hope H isn't getting sick with anything too bad.
I've never been to the IKEA restaurant either. My old city didn't have one in it, but this one does. But alas, Mr. Crap Napper has made it impossible to leave anyways. Maybe tomorrow.
Well that was quick. They were here for 2 hours max. He said the are leaving for now and will be back in a couple hours to sand. Then all is done and we can paint!
rivers and roads I didn't really take before pics but just imagine this everywhere
The far wall is where the tv will go and the closer wall is where the eventual bar will be. It was basically a big open, framed space for 3 1/2 years.

I'll probably sound crazy but we've got a few words that Ciara consistently says and will repeat back to us. mama, dada, hi, Zuma (our dog) and yesterday it was time for her to have a bottle and she said me ba ba but that was only once so probably a fluke. We have 3 dogs and she knows which one is Zuma and calls her by name.
N was doing a lot more babbling a few weeks ago. He's gotten a little more quiet lately as I think he's focusing more on crawling and standing and temper tantrum throwing.
Anyway he used to say da-da-da a ton, not so much lately. He mostly sticks with nay-nay-nay. Sometimes I think I hear ma-ma-ma, especially if he's super upset, but it's not clear if it's that or naw-naw-naw. Also like to repeat something that sounds like "es-de" (este in spanish?). I don't think he's said much of anything that requires lip control like P, B. For a while he was saying "ah da" (all done) at the end of his meals but seems to have forgotten it. He will mimic if I say his usual phrases dadada or naynay first but not new sounds.
The other day on Skype my mom asked him, "where's kitty" and he crawled to the location the kitty frequents most often, though she wasn't even in the room at the time.
He just ate half a regular adult size sloppy joe, plus some avocado, a handful of blueberries, and a full sippy of formula. I gave birth to a monster.
I feel like DS must be going through a growth spurt with the amount he's eating these days. Dinner was a baby bell cheese, chicken, a baby granola bar, a baby cookie, and two pouches, plus a bit of my smoothie. Oh and a banana. Well the second pouch was after a break but I'm pretty sure most of that list went in him instead of being shared with the dog
Had an unexpectedly busy day today. I went out in search for furnace filters. I went to 3 different hardware type stores and none had the size I was looking for. Then I had to go to the mall to pick some stuff up for H, and get my semi-annual wedding band inspection (it's required for the lifetime warranty H bought for the ring). Luckily it was H's day off so he stayed home with the kids while I did all the annoying errands/searching.
Good thing too, because DS felt feverish this evening. I'm hoping it's just teething and not something else. He was pretty cranky today, but was also chomping down on his toys too. Fingers crossed it's not sickness of any sort.

Wow, your kids eat a lot. DD had about 15 cheerios for dinner. The end.
ETA: of course she had formula too. Don't worry, she isn't starving.
I'm grumpy. Tomorrow I was planning to go out of town shopping with my mom and H would be home with the kids. Tonight he got a work call that he needs to go fix something out of town tomorrow morning. So guess who gets to cancel plans and stay home. H was just gone Sun-Wed and has a lot of weekends coming up this month and next that he'll be busy. So I'm just annoyed. I know it's for work and not his fault but I rarely get any time.
As for DD and babbling, she uses a lot of jibberish these days. There's been a couple times she's made a "key" sound to imitate when I've said "kitty" and she's saying "hi" constantly. Like you look at her and she says "hi!" All.day.long. It's so cute. When we've done bye-bye (waving) I think she's said bye, but she's so soft spoken at times I can't tell if she's saying hi or bye. I think bye. She babbles mama and dada and N sounds as well. I think she tries to actually say daddy because I've also heard a "die" sound come out several times, so I think it's daddy just in one syllable.
