Why will this baby not sleep during the day?! It's like a constant battle to get him to nap.
For those that leave the arms out when swaddling, does your LOs hands get cold? I did that the other night and they were little icicles! So I put mittens on him.
It's still weird that I'm someone's mom. Weirder still that I'm a mom of three little people. I think because in my head I'm not 30? Like I'm 30? When did that happen? Aren't I still 22? I feel 22. Not that 30 is old.
Random musings while K sleeps in my arms.
I think about this all the time. I still call my mom for advice all the time, but yet I'm a mom with two kids? Being a mom means your like superwoman who can sew, multitask like no other and always know the answer to everything! Me, a mom? That can't be right!
I'm also in denial that I turn 30 in a couple of weeks. That can't be right either!

C's hands get cold when he busts out so I usually use mittens. I loved the jammies that had mittens built in but nothing we have in this size has them.

You're 22. It's right there in your screen name.
OMG @ sewing. Ya my mom was making me elaborate Halloween costumes and I'm not even able to keep up with the laundry. And my mom had all three of us by 24. So. She wins.
To be 22 again! I don't even have a needle or thread in my house, so clearly seeing doesn't happen over here.

Yea I feel this way all the time, especially when I'm at my parents house. C looks so much like my brothers as babies and I was 16 when the youngest was born so I helped my mom with him a lot. I will gather around him with my siblings to ooo and aww at him. Plus my mom will steal him and take care of him while we're there. I feel like I'm just his sister but then it his me that he's actually mine. So weird lol.
@badwolf321, so so cute! How's O been doing with C?
He's doing wonderfully. always wants to be around C. And heaven forbid I don't pick C up right away when he cries. O will immediately head to C's crib with Binkie and burp cloth in hand.
Adorable! E likes to share his fruit snacks with everyone, so I always get one, dad gets one and so does L; which means I always get two! He can't figure out why she can't give him a high five or knucks yet?
H is seriously pissing me off the past few days. (ETA we usually rent at odds with each other but it's been since he's gone back to work). Might need to bump the Seriously, H thread.
Today he asks if I want to put on a movie. Sure. Not sure how much of it I'll actually catch bc multitasking with laundry, switching Newborn for 3months clothes, etc but throw something on.
The Reverent?
No, H.
Suicide Squad.
No, H.
Can we pick something a little less, I don't know, manly? Grotesque? Dark?
So he puts on War Dogs. Like, can we pick a movie that maybe doesn't have loud booms and guns and a bass-filled music soundtrack? AV kept startig to cry as she was trying to fall asleep and he's like, why won't she nap. I'm Ike every time she starts to close her eyes she hears a g'damn boom - maybe that's why? Just a wild guess.
Oh, and did I tell you about Thursday night when he comes in, grabs Alec (ok kudos), goes and changes, and then plants himself on the couch with Alec sleeping in the RnP and gets on his phone while I struggle with AV in the kitchen making dinner, prepping bottles for the night, doing dishes, etc. No sir. You don't get to sit and watch "fails of the week" while I struggle... You had your break at work (our jobs are easy to take breaks from and go socialize).

I feel the same! A friend of mine asked me how it felt to be a mom of 2 and I was like "it's weird because I feel like I should be in 3rd period or something right now". I'll be 30 at the end of the month and I'm just not sure where the time went.
Thank you aggiebug - that's what I was thinking but I only have a boba wrap and I am not confident in my carrying with that - I'm concerned if I do it too tight that they can't breathe so I err on the side of caution and do it looser and hold/support with one hand.
Does anyone want to recommend their soft structured carrier?
I never came back to update. So the doctor at the walk in said it wasn't chicken pox but didn't know what it was. He said to schedule an appt with the regular pedi on Monday, that he'd know what it was. Also to keep O away from E since he didn't know. So far I've put her rocker chair on out dining room table or I've been standing holding her. It's been a fun day.
Hugs hangry, happy to hear it isn't chicken pox, sorry to hear you don't have an answer as to what it is yet.
So I'm starting to think L has reflux. The at first she'd spit up maybe 1x a day, the last two weeks it's slowly getting worse and worse and today she's either been sleeping, eating, spitting up or crying right after spitting up. Her 2mo appointment isn't until the 23rd which I think is a little to long to wait for her next appointment to bring it up to the ped. I think I'm going to call Monday morning.
kleigh , I lurrrve my Lillebaby 6-in-1 carrier. It's soft, easy to put on, good back support, and D friggin loves it and falls asleep almost immediately when I put her in it. And the positioning is great; I have had zero issues with her slipping down. No infant insert needed, which I was happy about. hangry , ugh that sucks. Do you have to keep doing that until Monday??
Edit because I had more great things to say about my carrier
DS's birthday party was a huge success despite half the people canceling due to snow. And D was a perfect angel and slept through the entire thing in the Lillebaby. I'm exhausted though. Apparently so was the little man because I never heard another peep from him when DH put him to bed.
H is upstairs bathing D now to kick off her bedtime routine. I have a glass of wine but have stopped drinking it for the moment because I am going to need to nurse her in a few minutes. I'd love to have more after that but probably won't because she's likely to wake up within the first hour after being put down to eat again. Or so it's been for the past few nights.
H keeps making hints that he wants to DTD. There's, like, no chance that's happening tonight. I don't care how much wine you keep pouring me, H.
My baby boy is 2 years old tomorrow. It feels so surreal.
kleigh I also have a Lillebaby carrier that we love. We also have an Infantino breathe carrier which we both like for when they're really little. It's incredibly cheap (less than $20 at Target), but has held up really well. It's my go to with Lilah right now. But I'd go with the Lillebaby if I was only going to have one because it's more versatile and can be used longer. Lillian is 23 lbs and about 32" tall and DH can carry her front facing still and we both can carry her on our backs with it. Re movies: if it's bothering the babies, yeah, he needs to keep it light. Might as well get used to it. We are always watching things like Doc McStuffins, Sesame Street, Sofia the First, etc. Our stuff comes on after she's asleep.
danib Lilah started skipping days pooping a couple weeks ago. She goes once every 3-4 days. I remember Lillian did the same thing at about this point.
starbuck27 I also feel like it's weird that I'm mom to two tiny people. I know I'm 31 and everything, but it's just odd. And being in my 30s...also weird. I feel like I did at 24.
tjanca22 My mom made us costumes and clothes all the time. I have a sewing machine and I did make Lillian a dress once, but I honestly don't get how my mom made us so much stuff. I can barely keep the house from looking like a tornado hit it and feed us marginally healthy food.
Well, Lillian is sick again. Joy. She's been so fussy the last two days and I guess that's why. She's decided whining at me while I'm cooking or nursing the baby is a good plan. But she is saying "no thank you" when she doesn't want something which is new. Also "alright". It's adorable.
I'm going to try the one arm out swaddle tonight. I'm hoping it goes well since she usually brings one hand up anyway. Lillian rolled back to tummy at 4 months and with Lilah already showing signs of trying to figure it out I want to get her weaned off it before that happens.
Thank-you all for the well wishes! My Best friend came for my birthday and it was fun! She brought cake, and candles! Some how DH found a company to mail me cards for my birthday! He even sent one from L. DH ordered those face mugs that have a spot for cookies! BFF gave me a pendant from Ireland made by nuns at an abbey.
It's been snowing all day today and I think L has a cold! Mucus crusted eyes, stuffy nose but no fever!?! He's been sleepy all day and with this, I've let him. I'm prepared (not really) to be up all night with but I'm hoping he'll continue to sleep to help him get better.
Just lying here with half sleeping babies and watching the Liverpool soccer match.
We're going to our friends house at 1:00 to make that Polish NyQuil. I should prob bring lunch or something.
So I don't know if it was a one off but AV only ate every 3 hours during the day yesterday. They both usually look for food around the +-2hr mark. She did finish her 4oz bottles on the new formula each time BUT (and she did this the night before too) screamed her head off looking for her normal formula at the last feeding of the night before her long stretch. I caved both times and gave it to her, she'll drink like under an ounce and pass out. Sounds like trouble I need to figure out.
waitwhat It went ok. She went to sleep around 9 and slept until 3ish. But she's been in bed with us since being super hungry. Might be unrelated. We'll see how tonight goes.
kleigh Oh yeah, it's fine for them to sleep how they want once they can roll over. But, they can't be swaddled with arms in once they can because of the suffocation risk. They need their arms to go back or move around on their tummy. It's recommend to break the swaddle before they can roll over. Rolling back to tummy is typically a 6 months skill, some do it at 4 months or so like Lillian did. I've read to break it around 2 months to be extra safe and with a strong baby that's what I'm doing.
Ours slept in her own bed from 8:50 until 7. That's unheard of here. Maybe it was magical toddler sleep night? Glad he finally let you sleep some! 18 month regression is the worst.
I'm not doing Kon Mari-style decluttering that's going around but I have decided to get rid of a ton of crap around the house. It's too much stuff with all these kids and not a lot of storage space. I think it's adding to my anxiety.
Clutter, over accumulation, and disorganization give me legitimate anxiety and panic attacks. This doesn't bode well bc H is a major saver. If it were up to me we'd live in a house with nothing but the essentials - I'm talking 5 days of work clothes, 1 plate and bowl each, etc. lol. Ok that's a bit drastic but not far off from the truth. Good luck de cluttering!!!! If you haven't needed it in the recent past, you probably won't miss it much! :-)
