Woke up to my first PP period which destroyed the sheets. Joy. Well, at least that explains my crying the past two days - that was always my go to PMS symptom.
I need to get out of the house for a few before this snow storm hits. H seems to think its NBD handling two at once so maybe I should leave both here. But then of course the mom inside of me goes, why should I let either baby have to wait/cry/etc if it's not needed so I'd rather take one with me.
DH is off at his 5k. It's 17* out. It isn't the coldest 5k he's done, though. He did one in CO 3 years ago when it was 0*. But it's still pretty cold. We didn't join him. Lillian got up around 6:30, but didn't wake me up until 7 when DH left. Lilah is still asleep in the pnp. She rolled to her side and looks so cute curled up in there. My mom is bringing us breakfast, hopefully soon. I'm going to call her in a minute. (ETA: lol. No. She's still asleep so making breakfast for us instead) Otherwise, not going out until it's above freezing again. So more movies for us.
Lilah looks cute curled up on her side, but I feel like I need to wean her off the swaddle for night time sleep. Do I start by leaving an arm out? Both arms? Or... Here's the cute baby sleeping.
Aaaaand I think DS has chicken pox. This is just wonderful. I'm hiding in my bedroom with E. But truthfully, he's had a couple spots all week that I never even considered for the pox. So E has probably already been exposed. H is bringing him to the walk in clinic for a diagnosis. I'll be on pins and needles for the next 3 weeks waiting out this incubation period.

Oh no! Did he have the vaccine? I have thought DS had it several times over the years and it's been random rashes.

What's more frustrating:
Being up for hours trying to get a baby to go to sleep while your husband lays next to you snoring, or being up for hours trying to get a baby to go to sleep while your husband lays next to you awake and playing games on his phone saying and doing absolutely nothing?

I am pretty sure the chicken pox vaccine isn't standard in Canada.

Asking for a friend. 😠
Oh man.
After being mostly awake from 4-7 I told H if he was just going to play games could he take DS downstairs so I could actually get some sleep. Thankfully he listened and I slept for an hour. But he was totally oblivious oyi.

Honestly, I'm being obnoxious. We've had so many conversations about how if he sees me struggling then he should ask if I need help. I'm tired of constantly asking him for help and him acting put out. So I'm just pacing back and forth in front of the bed holding a crying baby. Still nothing.
Poor DS is super congested again, you seriously see some of the boogers he has sneezed out it's impressive. Which made for a tougher night. Add in some vaccine discomfort and he definitely prefers momma snuggles to anywhere else. *Yawn*
Last night my brother called to let me know about my mom's health scare. He talked to her in the phone except she was totally incoherent, he calledy dad who was 30 minutes away who raced home and found her basically unconscious. Paramedics came and her blood glucose was 32. Apparently she dipped again early this morning and is now in the er for observation (thank goodness) and they are also worried about kidney function. I hate being this far away from family. It's not like I could do much since she has the flu and I have a newborn but still.
aggiebug So scary! Does your mom have diabetes? Has this happened before?
Sooo my mom has a rare immune mediated disease and gets high dose steroids every two weeks (weaning her off has been unsuccessful so far). This has caused her to become prediabetic and she is on an oral medication to help. However she and my dad have never had any sort of counseling on diabetes or hypoglycemia since she isn't really diabetic. She currently has shingles and the flu because of her shitty immune system and has not been eating much if anything the last few days. Add in taking her meds and bam.
I feel awful because I am not there but also because I should have seen this coming. I know the risks of hypoglycemia, I know they probably didn't, and I knew she wasn't eating.
Enjoy getting out of the house kleigh! Hope the snow runs its course before it gets to you and it's not too bad. It's currently over us making way more of a mess than expected.
Girl, YESSSSS starbuck27!!! Hope this is the new norm!
Thinking of running in 17 degree weather makes my face hurt ClassyMrsA. That's some serious dedication.
Everything crossed that whatever your S has, E doesn't get it hangry. I think you've dealt with enough sickness now!
jubilantsquirrel LT for commiseration. I was really frustrated one if the days this past week while I was trying and failing to get M to sleep and he was blissfully snoring away. So I woke him up. Much more annoying to have him just stare at me.
That's just cruel waitwhat. I think my head would explode if I had crying coming from two directions. How long is this regression expected to last?
32 aggiebug?!! I'm so glad she made it to the hospital. Has she been diabetic for awhile? ETA: forget this, I posted before I saw your response!
After screaming as though being tortured for the entire afternoon and night M has now been asleep for 12 hours. She's eaten a handful of times but I was able to intercept her each time so she never fully woke up before getting her on the boob.
Her medicine is late though and she's running a temp so I want to get some Tylenol in her too.
As for the septic problem... The guy who owned our house before us also built it. He's a real gem. He didn't like paying people for the work they did. The electrician was one of these people and he retaliated by doing some really shitty stuff. Including not wiring in the lift pump that pushes water through the length of pipe from your house to the drain field. (Our water table is too high to have a gravity system). So it's not sewage under the house, just dirty water, but they expect the tank to be a disaster. So it'll still be a mess getting cleared up and who knows how much money. Boo!

C has been pretty much sleeping in 3 hour stretches all night. I've heard him make noise a few times in between but he goes back to sleep. He's probably going to be getting up soon so I really should get ready for the day. H and I are dropping him off at my ILs and running a bunch of errands that we need done. Then not planning on doing much else for the rest of the weekend except house things.
aggiebug you can not hold yourself responsible for this. The doctor should have laid out the various risks and warning signs. It's hard not to feel like you could have done something, but how are you suppose to see all the signs from far away. Be easy on yourself.
aggiebug I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, please don't blame yourself.
sophiegrace Not cool former homeowner.. For this reason, sometimes I feel like home inspections are a waste of money because of reasons like this, like they can only tell so much and then who knows what's really going on inside walls and pipes etc. I hope you guys can get this all figured out - no way insurance would cover anything, huh? I don't know under what grounds, but it can't hurt to try.
starbuck27 Yikes lady.. Keep that stash safe! Hopefully a downed tree and loss of power was the worst of what you got. More importantly I hope the power is back on soon!
ClassyMrsA That is so cute! I thought the guidelines were once they can roll then you start avoiding Swaddles? I don't know though, total FTM here. H and I do a St Patrick's 5k every year and it's always cold cold cold (10-20 degrees) that day. Every year I say we're not going to do it but sure enough every year I cave. It benefits the Connecticut Diaper Bank and so I think a part of me can't say no to that. Last year I had JUST found out I was pregnant but totally took that as a freebie year off lol. Still thinking about YH running in 17* in making me shiver lol.
Morning time. Just a dusting of snow here, not very exciting.
N had her first bottle successfully this morning, but DS refused to get dressed to go do something with me.. so much for my grand plans of a haircut and a donut outing. We exercised together which was cute. He did say that my breast pump was magic and asked if he could have some milk too, ha.
I need to get to target later because I have an outfit that had to be returned within 30 days. So N and I may venture out for that.
Lol @ magic tallblonde ! I am wayyyyyyyy more excited to make my first Target trip than I should be. It's one of those places that "people" (aka my sister) told me to avoid before they got their shots. So now that they're immunized we are def going to go next week while daddy is at work. Of course this requires me to figure out how I'm going to maneuver two babies/car seats/carriers.
starbuck27 How do you manage the two car seats? If you were going to take J and K out to a store, how do you manage that? I guess I could put one car seat in each carriage and push one and pull one behind me? I'll cause such a scene though lol. Carry one and push one?
kleigh. My first thoughts with managing the 2 babes in a store: Wear one and put the other in the cart, or put them in your stroller and just push it around you can either out your purchases in the storage area of the stroller or take a big bag to hook to the stroller/ cart to put stuff in.
Wearing them has proven to be so much easier for me than wrangling a car seat but I have only had one baby not two!
Well my toddler woke up 4 TIMES last night crying in his crib. Mom of the year over here just let him cry until he fell back asleep (which was never more than 5 minutes). But come on kid. He always sleeps through the night. And then he was up for the day again at 6:30. So basically my toddler is sleeping worse than my newborn. Send all the wine.
Thank you aggiebug - that's what I was thinking but I only have a boba wrap and I am not confident in my carrying with that - I'm concerned if I do it too tight that they can't breathe so I err on the side of caution and do it looser and hold/support with one hand.
Does anyone want to recommend their soft structured carrier?

Ergos are easy to find second hand and a great carrier. I love my lilliebaby. I don't recommend a Bjorn they just don't have the lower back support.
Hi! Cold and rainy here. DH took B for a haircut this morning, I've got chili going in the crockpot, and may make some Tollhouse cookies later if I can get *really* motivated. We may make a trip to the outlets just south of us just for something to do.
I put C in a 6-mo size outfit this morning it's a bit long but otherwise fits well with a bit of growing room. (Excuse me while I sob). I did weigh her this past week and she was just shy of 14 lbs. Her official check up isn't for another week but I'm so curious to see how she and DS stack up at comparable ages.
@kleigh have so much fun at Target!! I went before the holidays and it was way too busy for my liking. I have a beco Gemini that I love. I am intrigued by the tula, but don't need another:( I didn't love the velco on the ergo, but people swear by it.
LizInFL she's getting so big! I broke out J's growth records and looks like he had a gigantic growth spurt between 2-4 weeks because he weighed at 2 weeks what N weighed at a month! So they have already split unless she catches up this month. I am not accustomed to not having a giant baby, I hope she still gets some baby chub!
